QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 02:48 AM) Just because someone's a good manager for a team at one point doesn't mean they don't become a bad fit for that team over time. That's true. I'm not saying a change wasn't warranted or needed. I wanted him to be Sox manager forever, but his tenure was about as long as you'd ever expect in this day n age. I'm just saying I get tired of people taking any topic and turning it into how s***ty Ozzie is (was). Ozzie is a great manager and IMO a funny, seemingly good guy. Who out there can say he's a bad person? Who out there can say he's not at least a "good" manager. I prefer the word "great" but can we all agree on "good guy and good manager?"

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) I agree. Hopefully it doesn't f*** with Rios's psyche and put him in a slump. Mental toughness doesn't appear to be his strong suit. 1.) Who cares? He f***ed with fans' psyches enough himself that I don't care if his psyche gets f***ed with. Kudos to Robin for single-handedly ending his chance at a 12-game hit streak. I can't believe a guy has a decent April on here and all the Rios love. Let's see his numbers/boneheaded plays as the season progresses.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:55 AM) But you go postal after every loss. Not just tonight. I don't think I do that.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:47 AM) lol@greg. Are you going to go wild bull-like crazy after every loss? I just hated the offense tonight. Sox didn't come close to scoring. Even though Gavin was matching that no-name pitch for pitch, out for out, it seemed obvious Sox would get shut out and Oakland would not.
-
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) That's really tough to do when the pitcher owns the inside half of the plate. He pitched well. Except it and move on. Well somebody predicted this before the game. Would that poster take a bow? Somebody said we had no chance against the soft tossing lefty even with Walker far away in Atlanta.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) It's 3-1. You HAVE to think fastball to be successful. If he aces you with an offspeed pitch, there's not much you can do. IF you swing and make weak contact, it'll probably result in an out. He did this the other night with the bases loaded on a 3-2 count. You KNOW it's going to be a fastball right there. The result was a backwards K. He's Adam Dunn. He's going to strike out way way way more than he does anything else.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:38 AM) Losing a zero zero game in the 8th is disappointing, however it's not lousy baseball. I should have said lousy hitting. Sox could have played 15 innings and wouldn't have score tonight. Awful at bats.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:37 AM) Another lose to a soft tosser who next game will go 4 innings and give up 5 runs and be knocked out...............very sad! Like Fathom said, they wouldn't go with the pitch and rap singles n doubles.
-
Who cares if Rios is happy? Whole team sleepwalking tonight except Gavin. Nice effort.
-
s***ty game. Worthless at bats. Lousy baseball.
-
Home run or K. I'll take the HR.
-
So is this our first shutout loss of the year?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:18 AM) Did I call it or what? I f***ing knew it. I was worried when you wrote that. Good call.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:56 AM) Truth. Who cares? If he wants to retweet, let him. Can the Sox scratch out a run? This game has a walkoff loss feel to it.
-
It's Paulie or nothing tonight. Bad at bat Rios.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:41 AM) I can't help but have this feeling that Matt Thornton is going to end up ruining this game. Some way, some how, he will be blamed. I choose Crain as the goat.

This game is winnable, but Sox bats are dead tonite.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 10:59 PM) And so if Ned Yost's kid spent every other night during ST drinking with Hosmer, you'd say that Yost did nothing wrong? QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:11 PM) So you'd say Manto hasn't helped him? Or Dunn? QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:20 PM) I love how all of his arguments start with "ozzie is the best manager ever on the white sox" and finish with "the manager had nothing to do with how the players perform" What exactly makes him the best ever if he has nothing to do with the players performance? Wait, I know! He is judged on his quotes. That has to be it! 1,) I'd blame the player and the kid, not the dad of the kid. 2.) If Rios needed Manto to tell him right field was available, then WTF does that say about Rios. You can't tell me Walker had never suggested to him it might be wise to use the gap in right field as well as hitting pop ups to left and center. I credit Manto for doing that drill with Dunn. I'm sure Walker is performing some decent drills with the Braves as he surely did with the Sox. 3.) Our record. Ozzie had a great record as Sox manager. His ring also speaks volumes.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) Might be, how do you know that Yost got him in a good position during spring training? How do you know that he got the coaching he needed? I have no idea but I do know Alex Rios' performance this year has nothing to do with anybody except Alex Rios.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:40 PM) All of whom are...still here! Yes I blame a lot of the returning players. They deserve the blame, not the guy who managed them. That's like blaming Ned Yost for Hosmer's slow start. Has nothing to do with Yost.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) I don't even know that I'd be a believer if he did this all year. If we went into next offseason after Rios had put up an .850 OPS and played well enough that he should have been an all star, would anyone really believe he could be counted on to put up decent numbers again next year? Or would we all label him a giant question mark for 2013? No I would not believe he could put up numbers again. I would ask the fans on Sox talk one question: If the Sox could dump Alex Rios on a team right now for two minor leaguers would u be in favor of dumping him? I would say "yes, dump him" immediately. What do you say?
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) You are a fan of Alex Rios?? Alex will have to do this all year to make me a believer.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:39 PM) Well, considering they're the ones who are gone, I'm surprised you think that so much of last year's problem was Carlos Quentin and Mark Buehrle. Dunn, Rios, Beckham, bullpen, etc.
-
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) You're right that there was plenty of blame to go around. The big three (Peavy, Rios, Dunn) were contributors to the bad season for sure. I think what most people are implying is that you don't assign enough blame to Ozzie. He quit on the team last year. He got worse as the season went on with his decisions. He publicly fought with KW, and didn't make the lineups based on what KW said and did. Sure, it's the manager's job to make the lineup, but I certainly got the impression that he was playing certain players as his way of defying his GM. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 10:51 PM) Add Paul Richards to that list and I would add Bob Lemon as being better than Ozzie. Ozzie was better than Manuel, however. 1.) I assign a lot of blame to Ozzie, but actually more blame to the players. 2.) Richards and Lemon? Give me a break. Yeah, Bob Lemon was better than Ozzie "I've got a ring" Guillen.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) I guess the question then is...do you think Jake Peavy can stay healthy enough to be worth $23 million over 2 years? No. If he is pitching this well at the break, and somebody wants him, trade him. I do love his style, though.
