  1. THe only thing I read was that he was unlikely to approve a deal to the White Sox. That was in the Daily Southtown I believe and also on ESPN Insider.
  2. Houston is not going to deal him unless they are out of the wildcard race, which they are not. For as bad as they have played, they are 6 games out. They've got 2 aces, which could help them mount a decent run. I could even see them being a buyer at the deadline if they are within 3-4 games of the wildcard. While it would be a bonafide blockbuster for our organization, I don't see anyway in which Clemens comes here. Personally, I don't see him going anywhere.
  3. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Well aboz if I didn't read it, I swear it would have never come out of you. As you know I am in complete agreement. I will further state that last years draft was particulary crappy, which was on Wilders watch, although that won't come out for two more years. This is why, there should never be untouchables in the minors, its a total crap shoot. Furthermore, I completely understand why folks enjoy seeing kids progress. Its really a wonderful thing, but there are way too many people who "fall in love" with these guys only to take them off there list when reality sets in. many here loved Diaz remember? We can go on and on with names. There is no denying these kids have talent. The real problem that I see after looking at everything that has transpired over the past few seasons is that this organization has no clue when a prospect is ready to contribute at the major league level. A prime example of this was a few seasons ago when Neal Cotts was called up to take over the 5th starter slot. His command was terrible, but his overall numbers were great. Anyone who follows the game knows that poor command in the big leagues will lead to a lot of problems and indeed it did. I enjoy following the minors because at times it can provide a glipse of our future. I've also enjoyed meeting and talking with several of our prospects. This was not a knock on the talent of any of these guys. It is simply a questioning of why our farm system continuously calls up guys who are either A) not ready or B. not what they were hyped to be. Since our Baseball America ranking in 2000 as the top farm system (which was grossly exaggerated because hardly anyone panned out at that time) our system has been going downhill. I think it needs to be examined, plain and simple.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Ok, then let's get this Dave Wilder interview done and we can ask him thoughts on why Jenks over Bajenaru. Personally I don't care either way, I just want guys who get people out. Other than that it makes no difference. Maybe he can also be asked why every prospect we've called up the past 3 seasons has been a complete bust and not ready....Plain and simple, our farm system is horrible. I've withheld saying it for a while now, waiting to see if anything came out of it this year. I am tired of seeing other organizations continuously bring up major league talent while we bring up T-ball stands (Diaz, McCarthy, Munoz, Stewart, etc.) and guys who can't hit worth a lick (Borchard comes to mind first). Our system needs to get examined and perhaphs rebuilt from the top. (End of rant.)
  5. Very nice for both of you two. What ISP's are you using?
  6. Just interested to see what type of speeds everyone is able to get on your broadband connection. Using this website http://www.dslreports.com/stest you are able to test both your download and upload speeds. This is particularly useful if your ISP promises a certain download/upload speed with your service. Using this test you can verify whether or not they are delivering. I've got Bell South DSL Ultra (recently switched over from Earthlink) and here were my results using the Speak Easy Server (the first link - Seattle, Wa.) Your download speed : 1158152 bps, or 1131 kbps. A 141.3 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 214002 bps, or 208 kbps.
  7. Just voted about 20 times. We'd have to have everyone vote about 5,000 times for us to have a shot and even then I'd think it'd be a long shot. Oh well, it's still fun to vote.
  8. I posted that before he was announced officially.
  9. FYI, it's the 32nd man, not the 30th man. The rosters are expanded to 32 for these past two seasons.
  10. Jeter will be on the f***ing 32nd man thingy. He'll win in a runaway.
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) I don't think Kong is going to make it, just a hunch. Hope I'm wrong. Hell yea, I'm wrong, Kong IN, YESSSSSSSSSSSs
  12. I don't think Kong is going to make it, just a hunch. Hope I'm wrong.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Ha, me and willie were just talking about the same thing. We always get a guy on that damn thing and some dirty red sox or yankee wins it. Hopefully Jeter is a reserve and isn't in the 32nd man thing. Otherwise we're f***ed.
  14. QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Are they going to do the 'vote for the 30th man' thing, where we can vote for the final reserve online? I hope a sox will get nominated, although someone from boston or new york will probably win as usual... I'd say we'll have Pods on there. We'll have to stuff the ballot box big time if we want a shot.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) Please tell me Aramis didn't make it over Ens. Sure did.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Look at his obp and he leads off for them. I love watching him because of his defense, however he shouldn't be in here. That's why the rule that each team needs a representative sucks.
  17. Ensberg did get screwed, maybe he'll win the 32nd man. I'll vote for the guy.
  18. Izturis? Wasn't he hurt for a good while?
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) I said the same thing but he's the only rep from Oakland. If I was him I woulda taken Huston Street.
  20. He took Duechebag over Hermy and Politte? You've gotta be kidding me.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) It was a bad game obviously because he was falling behind every hitter, I said his stuff was good. Contreras always has good stuff and quite frequently, he sucks. While its a good indicator of how good someone will perform, I'll take great command and mixing speeds over pure stuff anyday. Schmidt, when healthy, is one of the 5 best pitchers in the game. This is when he is clicking on all cylinders. Just look at his game log over this season, he hasn't really put a solid streak of good performances together like he did the past 2 seasons. Personally, I think the guy is pitching hurt.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Well boz obviously my scouting report means nothing but his stuff was good today. I was watching the game on mlb.tv and he had a fastball moving all over the place, a nasty splitty and a good late breaking curveball. Today was just one of those games pitchers have, home plate was jumping around on him and he was just 2-0 on a bunch of hitters. If the price is right, I'd personally love to have him. Once again what I think means nothing though. If the price was right....I can say that I think the price minimum would be two of the following three: B-Mac, Sweeney, Anderson. If that is the case, no. I'd also like to see him at least throw a few gems and get his heat back up to a respectable level before we would even consider this. The last I heard, SF said they were going to exercise his option for next year for 10.5 mil.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) You went from agreeing that he's better than Duque, McCarthy, and probably Contreras to this. Duque is not pitching, McCarthy is not ready and Contreras has been great until his past 3 or 4 games. Talent wise he is better than anyone we have. This year he has been flat out horrible. And I follow him closely with him on my fantasy team.
