  1. Some of you may not think this is funny, but oh well. I thought it was pretty hilarious. So we got a lot of snow down here in Louisville last night. I probably shoveled the driveway 5 times yesterday and then once again this morning. So as I was shoveling this morning at 7am, I look across the street. 2 male "partners" live at the house. One was trying to help the other get his car out of the garage out of the driveway, which is a bit hilly. First, he started using a broom to try to brush the snow away. Keep in mind this is about 12-14 inches of snow. After the guy realizes he isn't doing a damn thing, he decides he is going to be a hero. The moron fires up the LAWNMOWER. Never in my 22 years of existence have I heard of the lawnmower as a snow removal device. He proceeds to "mow" the driveway for about 10 mintues and the whole time I am laughing my ass off along with my mother. Finally he stopped and I turned to my mom, she was laughing hysterically, to which I then asked her if they were going to bag the snow. Obviously, they weren't, but I just found this pretty damn funny that someone would opt for the lawnmower over the conventional snow shovel.
  2. In Jas's defense, I was the one who made the decision and I was backed by several other admins and mods. However, this is not a topic to discuss here in this thread as it is well-known that things like this are not to be discussed publicly here at the site.
  3. A lot of junk combined with a deceptive windup.
  4. I am just really excited about this still, the idea of having Garland as our worst starter is pretty damn good to me. And the experience that El Duque has from the big games and being a professional in the Bronx I am excited to have as well. I think this was a good move overall.
  5. Maybe because we never won s*** with Maggs or Carlos and the team needed to change from their swing for the fences tendencies? Just a thought to ponder.
  6. "I got the best report on a physical that I've ever received since I've been sitting in this chair," said Williams of Hernandez. "(Trainer) Herm (Schneider) and our doctors feel this guy has a great upside, with strength in his elbow and shoulder. "The wear and tear is not indicative of a Major League pitcher. The MRI and X-rays are as solid as we have had in a long time. It's just more reason for optimism." "This is definitely part of our overall plan and thinking," added Williams of following up the Lee trade with the Hernandez signing. "There was never any intention of stopping with the first part of it. "We could have been shut out in our efforts to go after a starting pitcher we were comfortable with as the second part of the plan. But it doesn't mean the plan was faulty. It would have evolved as the season went on." "For us, it was going to begin and end with pitching," Williams said of the re-making of the White Sox. "We entertained some other things along the way, bigger names out there, for lack of a better word. But we feel really good from where we sit from 1 to 12, and if we have to dig deeper, from 1 to 13, 14 or 15. ------- Just thought I would share these with everybody.
  7. So I guess I get the benefit of being 5 hrs southeast of Chicago....
  8. I don't know what you all are talking about with the AM 1000 bad reception. I live in Louisville, KY and I can get the games loud and clear at night during most of the summer. I can't understand how parts of Chicago can't get the game, but when I am 5 hrs away, I can drive around and listen to it.
  9. I am not worried about people approaching me. Just ask Steff or Mike, for the most part I am an unapproachable asshole.... And besides, Beastly knows better than to introduce himself to me.
  10. It's not out yet, at least according to my "sources."
  11. There are certain people who don't want to meet certain people. Therefore, I'm not wearing a damn nametag.
  12. It hasn't been all of the sudden. ONE of their core players from their team last year was home grown. And his name was Trot Nixon, not that significant of a player. They are just as bad, if not worse, than New York.
  13. By the way Jeckle, don't take your ownage personal, I just had to do it after your crazy statement that Garland is 10 times better than Vazquez.
  14. You're a classless individual. I'd love you to introduce yourself at one of the Q & A's, that way everyone there can boo you.
  15. Hence the username, Knucklehead1, err I mean KnuckleSox1....
  16. Advantage Twins. Santana and Radke are the two primary reasons.
  17. Nothing against him personally, but this "Dayn" character probably knows jack s*** about our farm system. I'd bet that several of our posters, including Rex, dan, Jas, Cerb, DBaho and several others know more than this character. I kinda dismissed this as garbage as soon as I saw Honel still in the top 10 and Young that far ahead of Sweeney.
  18. Also, dunno if anyone likes Mini-helmets or not, but they are a great item to get signed. Anyhow, came across a deal for a case of 24 mini helmets for $29.99 on eBay the other night and went ahead and got it. Most places sell these for about $5 each. The guy now has another auction up for another case if anyone is interested: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW
  19. Interesting, that would make sense.... Then again, I guess this rule doesn't apply to Frank.
  20. I was expecting around that, but once I get it signed out in Tucson, well worth it. Any idea why Mark won't be at Soxfest, anyone?
  21. Do you have early access? I am going to be at Soxfest, after all. This year I am going to be in the market for a Buehrle game worn jersey.
  22. The best deals on Sox merchandise are at Soxfest. You are pretty much overpaying for the most part if you buy anywhere else based on some of the deals I was able to find last yr.
  23. Yes I will be there, March 17-23. Going to get down just in time for the Cubs game in Tucson. At least that is the plan. What about you?
