I don't agree here, I think if Reed continues to hit, it's hard to keep him in AAA when he can help the big club. Aaron Rowand is not viewed as a long term solution in the outfield for the White Sox with Reed, Sweeney, Anderson and even Borchard forming one of the deepest outfields in the minor leagues. I don't think it really matters concerning the Magglio situation. Even if no Mags deal is in place but the Sox are in 1st, they are going to go for it rather than dealing Magglio and then try to resign him after the season is over. I don't really see the point in leaving a guy who has hit in the high .300's everywhere he's been in AAA, if your goal is to have the best team possible.

That depends on how Danny Wright does in his next start...If he struggles or gets lit up again, he could be going down with Cotts staying and entering the rotation...

It's inevitable, this guy is going to hit his way into the centerfield spot and soon... Looking at his latest stats, the guy is hitting at a .388 clip 12 games into the season, slugging .515 and his OBP is .415. If he does this for the next 10-15 games or so, I'll say he gets the call. Not to take anything away from Rowand, but I feel we need his lefthanded bat in our lineup and this is a guy that appears destined to be a good hitter at the ML level for a while to come... Jeremy Reed BTW, here's a link to the International League batting leaders: http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...eague=INT,page=

This will never happen, he's got a guaranteed contract worth $800,000. Therefore, cutting him would mean the Sox eat all of that and get nothing in return, which they won't do. Expect Adkins to get sent down, even though he's pitched well enough to stay on the team.

Thank you my friend, thank you.

There is nothing to refute when the comments being made are obviously wrong. You may be the only D'Angelo Jimenez fan on this board, look around. And if you want me to refute, here goes: 1) He is a terrible defender with less range than Frank Thomas has at first base. 2) He is the dumbest baserunner in the history of baseball and he cost us several times last season with his bonehead decisions and lackluster effort. 3) His attitude is worse than negative, in fact it encourages and feeds the phenomenon known as corpseball. 4) His body language pretty much sums up everything: he doesn't give a s*** about the game. :puke

and so true... Brando, how about going to a Reds forum to sing your praises about D'An go away Jimenez...I am sure they'd love to talk about how they "stole him" from us with you... My best D'Angelo memory is when he made a jackass of himself at a AAA game here in Louisville after every other Knights player signed autographs for a handful of Sox fans at the game and D'Angelo acted as if he couldn't understand English and kept walking...Then he got one of these... :fyou

What was I thinking? Apparently nothing too intelligent, I was totally off on Konerko...Shows what I know... :banghead

This is an important game for Mark to step up, as I see it as the most winnable game in the series. I'd like to take 2 out of 3 this series and this first game is the key.

A lot of talk around here has been about Magglio's contract situation, but not a lot has been mentioned about Esteban or Pauly, who both become FA's after the season. Now I have no clue as to what Estey will be seeking, but you've gotta figure if the guy pitches well all season, he's going to be seeking around 7 million per or more. It's hard to consider what Konerko is going to be seeking as this season will have a lot to do with what his value on the market will be. We have Konerko, Magglio, Koch and Loaiza all coming off the books this winter. No way we resign Koch, unless it's a deal where he's making 1 mil per year or less. And I'm sure with his track record before 2003 that someone will pony up more than that with the belief that they can fix his problems. Here's where the trickiness of the situation lies. If Magglio is signed to a deal, where does that leave Loaiza and Konerko? Let's say Konerko has a great season, as does Loaiza...Are the Sox better off taking two solid players and going with a young outfielder such as Reed next season or losing perhaps their best pitcher and a fan favorite and run producer in Konerko in order to keep their cornerstone in Mags? This is a situation I think will yield some interesting discussion, so have at it.

Cubs Lose, Cubs Lose...

I think that's why they are working Cotts in the way they are. They saw it work with Buehrle, who came up as a reliever and worked his way into the rotation and flourished. Hopefully the same will be the case for Cotts.

I think that's noon on game day, so you'll be waiting until tomorrow if I am correct on this.

Mike I agree with you that he wouldn't be a bad pick, but obviously under the circumstances that we just fired the guy, I wouldn't expect that to be a workable situation at this point. But you are right, it's not a job for someone with no experience, but you've got to start somewhere I suppose.
-
While Mike Jackson has pitched well, I think the pen can live without him. When Kelly is ready, you put him in the pen along with Danny and let Cotts start, while optioning Jackson for assignment. Just my two cents on the matter, because obviously Neal Cotts doesn't project as a reliever, so if he can do the job, why leave him in the pen all season?

I voted for this one, cause it pretty much sums up my feelings for the big guy: "he is ok, I could see him go or stay and not really care much" Frank was my favorite player for the Sox until the contract things came up a few times. At that point, Buehrle came to the big leagues and pretty much took over as my favorite Sox player. I really have no problem with Frank, I think he's a hall of famer, great player, but I just can't understand the contract b****ing that always seems to happen at the wrong times.
-
I was obviously joking there Mr. DBAH0, but you are right on about the staff and echo my sentiments about where they stand at this point. My only thing would be to let Wright make one, maybe two more starts and if he isn't successful, then you let Cotts have his chance to start.

There will never be a battle for the top spot, we all know that Mark is the chosen one...

Ken Rosenthal, how about actually reporting something for once that isn't recycled news? Perhaps something that is your own idea....Or would that be too much to ask? This guy has never reported anything significant in his career. Every article he writes is pretty much news taken from other places and rephrased. All of the other stuff is speculation. This guy is actually worse than Mariotti... :puke

Is this the beginning of the new Be Good, with smart and insightful White Sox banter....

You mean he doesn't pull up lame all of the time?
