If he hits well in Spring Training, he's gonna be on the Sox, so he won't be going to Athens in that case.
-
He was hurt too much this season, wouldn't want to take a chance on him.
-
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1619231 I wouldn't mind seeing him as a backup on the Sox next season, if he wanted to play here. I think he could still be an adequate backup if healthy. Any thoughts?

He's talking about this.
-
I'm sure he's talking to me.

This thread gets nominated for one of the 5 dumbest I've ever read. In fact, it's a blatant attempt to stir tempers and cause discussion that is not even warranted. The Sox are going nowhere and anyone who thinks that fans don't criticize teams everywhere has an ignorant view of the world and how things work. How about coming up with something of substance before making another post...

Couldn't agree more. Thomas CHOKED big time. Loaiza didn't pitch particularly well, which I characterize as choking after the season he had, but Frank came up with nothing.
-
I mean, the guy didn't pitch as bad as he could have, but then again, those were big games and he didn't exactly pitch lights out. Maybe we were all spoiled by the way he pitched all season. Maybe I expected too much from a guy who was considered the prime contender for the Cy Young award. I don't take anything from Loaiza and the year he had, but we didn't win those games for two reasons: no offense and he didn't pitch particularly well.
-
At least 3. And also, he has never flat out said he wants to pitch for STL. he's basically said he roots for the cards, who aren't even in our league or on our schedule this season, so i really don't see a problem with it. And if he does go to STL, I don't blame him, look at the way this organization operates. Would you want to play for the Sox if you were in his shoes? people ask questions, he gives an answer and is crucified for it.
-
If you go by that logic, many of Buehrle's losses should be excused since he got no run support to start the season.
-
Loaiza did not choke 3 straight games..... plain and simple. If you say so, he LOST 3 straight games, 2 of which we needed badly. Last time I checked, Buehrle beat the Twins when he faced them the last time and then won at Boston, then I believe he won again last Friday night. Say what you want and I do realize that Loaiza kept us in the race when others (Buehrle) were struggling, but it's been totally different lately. And also, next season when the clock strikes midnight and Loaiza wakes up from this pipe dream, you'll be glad we have a solid pitcher like Buehrle who will deliver 15+ wins year in and year out.
-
Because he choked 3 straight games. I apprecaite his efforts, but you can't do that in a heat of a pennant race and expect to not be ripped.
-
I have never nor will I ever kick Buehrle. Sorry we don't kiss ass to underachievers. And also, sorry for being happy when they won a few games... :fyou

Maybe you should relocate to another message board.

If giving up runs means he looked good, then Koch is golden.

Manuel, a .150 career hitter in 96 major-league games over parts of five seasons, has never managed at the big-league level. He does have minor league experience running a team at Indianapolis in 1991 and AA Jacksonville in 1990, where he was Southern League Manager of the Year. Now I realize why he couldn't motivate these guys. A career .150 hitter? What kinda expertise does he have to pass on? This is great and I can't wait til he gets canned. So long Ghandi.
-
"I want to give them an environment where they can flourish," Manuel said. "My philosophy to them would basically be confront the game and not the stats, not worry about how many hits you got and how many RBIs you got and so forth." What a damn joke. It's too bad you don't know a damn thing about "the game" or how to manage it.

Please don't remind us.

In case you missed it, Frank took off the two Twins series. We don't need him now, so why even bother showing up big man. Grab some bench.
-
Jerry is a lame duck manager. And he's managed like he's a lame duck manager for a few years now. See ya jackass. :fyou :fyou :fyou

I see it just fine.

I expect to see the Sox get slapped around like a red headed stepchild tonight.

Someone who's getting 14 million for one year will not renegotiate to a long term contract at 8 million a year. Why would he? Hell, the players union would crucify him. You're exactly right, which is why the Sox are probably not too happy now with the situation they're in with Konerko's salary next season in addition to the 14 million due to Mags. They overpaid for him, in my opinion, but I liked the deal at the time. Looking back on it, it wasn't a good deal. That's over 1/4 of our payroll for 2 players. There's no way they can afford to resign Colon, unless they plan to spend more money next season. In addition, we are going to have to pay Buehrle more after he rejects the deal we offer him (and he will if its a lowball offer) and go to arbitration. Buehrle will win the arbitration case and get a nice little salary. I think the route the Sox are gonna have to go is to sign a #3 or #4 starter for a relatively cheap price, try to re-sign Robbie and that will be about all in terms of moves. If they can unload Frank or Konerko, they will, but I don't see that happening.

I'd be happy with getting out of an inning without a walk. let's not get carried away here. he's got the potential to be good, but I don't see him winning a Cy Young. hopefully I'm wrong. By the way, my choice is Manuel. In fact, if he is back next season, I won't be watching the team. I can't stand to watch mediocrity any longer.
