    spin?

you could be right, or perhaps this is just Boras bulls***ting so other GMs "think" the White Sox are making offers ...
  2. Johnson before Pedro. I haven't thought much of Pedro over the past years. Still a quality pitcher, but not the same or even close to what he was before.
  3. 1. I agree. With Ordonez gone and Lee the next possible FA to go, Anderson and Sweeney should be kept. 2. Well, if they are expecting for the rotation to be their main and only strength, then they need another starter, but if they are going to add reliever and a bat, then a #5 isn't vital. 3. You can look back at pretty much every WS team or contender and find a player on their team that isn't/wasn't a "World Series caliber" player. 4. I agree, but there aren't many of those guys around the game anymore, let alone available. I wouldn't mind having Rowand leadoff. Not a typical leadoff hitter, but he won't hurt you in that role.
  4. I agree. Although I would try and keep Garland and add two pitching prospects (preferably starters). I say that because with Buehrle/Garcia/Johnson/Contreras/Garland our rotation would be fine for a couple years. So I'd say, go all out. Stack your rotation and do whatever you can. If it means that we are bad in 2007, who cares. I have no problem losing in '07 thru '10 if we give ourselves two really good opportunities to win it all over the next two seasons.
  5. you're right, it does depend what happened that made him file for bankruptcy, but a red flag should be raised when something like that is found out about, especially when combined with allegations of spousal abuse and a clear tempermant and the DUI. I know if I was looking for someone to manage or a team, or run anything with my business, how the person is on all levels is important. he clearly has problems.
  6. it isn't a f***ing game ... it's the presidency of the U.S.! I'm not talking about you directly, but I hate how all this has become is a god damn sporting event for so many people.
  7. trust me, jas, the bias at CNN isn't nearly as bad as Fox. you may not believe it, but it's the truth.
  8. in a case like this, you either give the player money or years. 2YR at $4 mil each is manageable.
  9. I don't know about that. wouldn't the majority owner who owns RC be against the idea of selling Pepsi?
  10. yeah, because the Bush administration doesn't jump to conclusions, right? this is what most politicians do and will continue to do. it's sad, but don't go and rip one person for doing something like this when it's done by both sides.
  11. I heard about it a little less than a year ago.
  12. yeah. I find it out a while back and was pretty surprised by it.
  13. I've been told who the majority owner is (or at least someone who owns more share than JR, but I can't remember his name. What I do know is the is very passionate about the Sox and laid back.
  14. because people would rather place the "blame" on one person than a group. JR is the chairman and makes decisions based on what the other owners want. off topic, and perhaps this is something that is known by most here, but do you guys know which MLB owner, except JR, owns a part of the Bulls? He's very well known for an owner, spends a boatload of money and is hated by almost everyone outside the fans of his team, and the ones who feels what he does is perfectly fine and not bad for the game. Pretty interesting.
  15. how old is JR, CubKilla? Because he's owned the White Sox since the last time we won the WS, right? He has to be like 100.
  16. he isn't worth $13 mil, far from it.
  17. Rogowski is definitely a good defense first baseman, but as you said, I think it's done to give him more options and a better chance. It's pretty clear him staying at first base wasn't helping his chance.
  18. thanks Apu, do know of where I can find their articles online? I did a quick search but the link that exists for it was from 2002.
  19. hmm, is that just distributed around the college and surrounding area? if so, that's perfect.
  20. the Chicago Reader is more a Chicago paper instead of a community, like Bridgeport.
  21. I'm doing an assignment for school where I need to find an audience-based publication within a community. none come to my mind. I was wondering, assuming most of you guys are within the Chicago area and in different neighborhoods and such, if you know of any? I'm not talking about any old community newspaper, but one that targets a specific audience within a community. thanks
  22. I'm not saying he is or not, what I'm saying is that the couple times he seemed to get on a roll this season, he was benched. or, he would be on a roll, would have one 0-4 game and then would get benched. he was never given a chance to either stay hot or learn how to break out of a slump. as far as stealing ... you are right 19 stolen bases isn't acceptable, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the ability to do it. He did it throughout his minor league career and apparently lacked all confidence this season to do it in the majors. Not sure why, maybe it will be something that he's lost for good. The Sox had the chance this season to find out what he's all about, and while 400 at bats is decent amount, the way it was spread out over the course of the season makes it a useless number. Now, I'm not saying Harris should be the starting second baseman. If the Sox go out and find a shortstop, decide on Crede starting at third, then Uribe should be starting at second, no question. But I don't think the verdict should yet be out on him.
  23. I'm not comparing the two in ability, but Aaron Rowand, before this season, was constantly getting jerked around, never getting a good look as a starter. It's no different than Harris. Guillen screwed up this season with him by not keeping him out there when he was heating up. Instead he benched him and that was the end of Harris. If Harris is bad, fine, but at least give him the chance to prove it. Had Guillen of done that this season, we would know for sure right now and we wouldn't have any debate. Good or bad, Harris wasn't given a legit chance this season.
