QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) Are Sanchez and Kuhn even close to being on the radar in terms of being legit prospects who would be seriously considered to be blocking anyone?? Surely, the White Sox would address this issue if they thought those guys like Greene and Short were ready to move up a step. Probably nothing will happen until the All-Star breaks for Winston-Salem and BIRM. No, but neither is Greene, And as long as the former two are hitting the ball, they aren't going to be pushing them aside for a similar player in a level below. I don't know a lot about Kuhn but Sanchez has a major league body. He probably has a 5% chance or less of ever being a major leaguer, but it's worth keeping him around to find out.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 5, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) if he's in jail for life who gives a damn if he's still a citizen. They aren't all life sentences.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 5, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) I think you sort of missed what McCain said - he said SUSPECTED. What you describe here is CONVICTED. That is a huge difference. No one should ever lose their citizenship based on suspicion alone, of anything. I wasn't commenting on what McCain said. I was referring to the Lieberman quotes that AHB posted as insane. That isnt something based on suspicion. I read that as something that would come about as a result of a conviction.

Royals @ White Sox, 5/5 Game THREAD

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 5, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) I feel slightly bad for the guy whose thread was cancelled. Pointless? Yes. But you're told "we expect more meaningful threads around here," and yet the Justin Bieber thread currently sits at Page 3 on palehose talk. All in lieu of wins i guess. Why? For one, you answered your own statement. And for two, it wasn't even a game thread. It was a pre-emptive b**** and moan thread about a loss to a game we havent even played yet. And Steve, props on your description of Bannister. I see what you did there. -
QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 5, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) I thought the premise and storyline was solid, but I could never get over the acting. It was so bad. I haven't watched since right when dominic monaghan came on the show. That's pretty much when it got interesting. I agree it started slowly but it really has picked up. The writing in part two of this season has been great.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) I suspect you are a terrorist. You are now no longer a citizen. No, you have no ability to contest this in court, and now you've lost your right to prove your innocence beyond a reasonable doubt because you're no longer a citizen. Goodbye. Ugh. Not shocked by this response but whatever. In no way should this be applied like a 1690's Salem situation as you are implying, but if there was an incident like the one that just occurred and a person was found guilty beyond a reasonably doubt, I don't see why this would be such a big deal or bad thing. Charges that come with terroristic acts are not all life sentences keep in mind. And I'm not saying I'd fully support this, but I definitely see no reason to just poo-poo it or blow it off as 'insane'.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) Even More Less-Sane: Lieberman Proposes Taking Away Citizenship Of Suspected Terrorists How about we charge them with treason instead? I honestly don't see why that's such an insane idea.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 4, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) Bad writing = dead show. I made it through two episodes. Your loss. The show has been phenomenal since re-starting.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) Finally saw the one on Len Bias the other day. Was the cocaine OD, a one time cocaine use for Bias or did it come out that he had previous used? I would doubt that was his first time, but you never know.

Awesome thread.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 4, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) I know i'm his biggest supporter on this board, but i think people are a bit to eager to slag off on the guy for things that aren't his fault. He's been perfectly fine at 3b, even despite never playing their prior to last year. No he hasnt been perfectly fine. Watching him at 3B and SS told me that. You are just about the only person who doesnt see that. Does that mean he couldnt be good there? No, but from what he has shown at this point it doesnt point to that being the case.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 3, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Lily Ledbetter Ended the HIV travel restrictions Taking a step forward on health care reform Full funding of Amtrak A general measured approach to things in an atmosphere that tends to be hyper partisan and screamy. That too for me. I'd love to see more of a rail infrastructure in this country. I'm not sure how feasible it will be, but the idea is something I fully support. -
QUOTE (juddling @ May 4, 2010 -> 01:34 AM) Take this for what it's worth, but a couple sources are reporting ot have or have seen leaked pages of Lost's finale. Possible spoilers ahead if they aren't accurate they are certainly interesting Resisting the urge to click link...

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) Thunderbolt, substitute Viciedo for Konerko at 1B (salary dump) and you have a deal, haha. Teahen would be benched/utility/spot play. I actually would rather see what Morel could do...since we already know what we've got with Mark. Heck, I'd rather see Wilson Betemit...almost...if he was hitting like in ST 2009. How can you say that with a straight face?
-
QUOTE (chisoxt @ May 3, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) Okay, so the Mike MacDougal, Horatio Ramarez and Mark Teahen trades don't look so hot, what about the possibility of acquiring Alex Gordon? It seems as though Gordon is frustrating Royal's management enough that he was recently sent down to the minor leagues. As we do not seem to have a legitimate 3B prospect at the moment in our system (I am an not sold on Brent Morel), what about Alex Gordon? A change of scenery may do Gordon good, though the chronic injury thing is a concern. Could this be Herm Schneider project?? Yeah because Chris Getz and Josh Fields are such a superior duo... Anyways, I wouldnt be opposed to acquiring Alex Gordon, but the KC to Chicago train is really getting kind of old.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 3, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Just because MB wants to be a Card doesn't mean STL will want him. He obviously hasn't reached the point many pro athletes have in realizing it's a business and you are less outspoken about your favorite team was when you were a kid. Obviously. How dare he or anyone else ever mention stuff like that while they are playing. Completely unacceptable. KW probably should have written something in his contract which forbade him from mentioning or showing support for the Cardinals in any way whatsoever. That was a mistake everyone will come to regret one day (if they have not already)

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Even more puzzling why he isn't in there. Maybe this will get Alexei to be more patient at the plate. He's improved his walk rate and overall discipline from when he got here to last year, but has regressed so far this season. I was actually fine with Lucy getting the start before I looked at those splits. Pettitte is a tough lefty, AJ is slumping and Lucy is RH and swinging a decent bat right now. However, I had no idea AJP has actually had sustained success against him. Of course with tomorrow being a day game maybe Oz just felt he'd rather play AJ vs Vazquez rather than Pettitte -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) Two weeks in a row. They are really pouring it on. Three out of four too. A few weeks ago was only meh but it was a clear set-up episode. Next week looks good too. I'm loving the plot twists and turns. Nothing seems forced or lame. Reminds me of early LOST
