Fans Entering Field During Game
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 7, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) Anyone who runs onto the field should be tasered, in my opinion. It's the only way people will stop doing it. That.

Winter/Spring 2009-10 TV thread
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 7, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) I though it was ok. not as good as the previous 2 in my opinion. But still good. Agreed with this. It was a good episode last night but the prior to weeks were just phenomenal IMO. Although I did enjoy learning more of the background of the event last night.

Paul Konerko AL player of week
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) Hell...if the rest of the bats can't get their heads out of their tails, there's no reason to hold him past the deadline. Unfortunately that is true. If we are truly out of it at the deadline and PK is still hitting like he is, some team in need of an impact bat for the stretch run would probably offer up a good young player for him. And if so, KW had better make the move. That being said, hopefully we don't find ourselves in that situation.

What an absolute crock of s***. If I was a parent of one of those kids I would be livid at the school district.

2010 Minor League Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 2, 2010 -> 11:16 PM) Mike Stanton having a season for the ages (and it's only May 2). .354/.505/.866/1.370. What's most impressive is the 25/24 BB/K ratio. Hard to believe this guy was a second rounder. And you know we'd never be able to identify a super talent like this (I know, I know. Other teams passed on him too). Just saying that the crock of s*** that was "well, the Sox haven't had a top 10 pick since 1990" is exactly that...a crock of s***. Another guy that's been making a mockery of AA is Tanner Scheppers. Small sample size (11 innings). But the numbers are beyond filthy: 11 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 19 K, .079 BAA. We're too busy drafting the Josh Phegley's of the world 6 picks earlier. Stanton currently at .340/.477/.840/1.317, 14 HR 31 RBI, 26:31 BB:K Rumor is the Marlins could call him up before the end of May. Apparently they are worried about him becoming Super 2 eligible though. But, they almost always call their top prospects up directly from AA so we'll see.

5/6 Games
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) Its not just a function of hitting. He still has 24 K against 2 BB, and he needs to improve his plate discipline. True, but if he has a respectable year it really couldnt hurt anything to call him up when the AAA season is over in September.

How Russia Deals with Pirates
That's pretty good. Also read earlier that the crew was able to secure themselves in a safe room so they were safe from the pirates when they came aboard. That probably made the rescue easier.

Lance Berkman
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2010 -> 08:29 AM) Well, you could definitely make the argument that we should have cashed in our chips with Joe Crede and Bobby Jenks before they lost all their value. We waited until Fields and Anderson were basically worth nothing, not to mention Lance Broadway. Uribe walked away with nothing in return. You could, but it'd be a losing argument aside from Jenks, with whom I agree with you about. But that's it. Fields and Anderson were being groomed for future starting spots here, there was no desire from the organization to trade them. Uribe was a FA and had zero trade value anyways so I don't see the point in bringing him up other than adding a name to your name drop counter on this post. And Broadway never really had any significant value at any point with us anyways. Buehrle has limited value in trade and I'd rather keep Danks to build around. http://boards.espn.go.com/boards/mb/mb?sport=mlb&id=min

Dye Coming Back? Sun-Times Article

Blue Jays @ Sox, 5/6 Game THREAD
QUOTE (skidoochic @ May 6, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Well, hopefully that high def camera will be aimed at the dugout all night! But seriously, what are we going to do with Juan Pierre?? When the ball gets hit to him I think I am going to have a heart attack - I mean he dances around and looks like he is afraid of the ball!!!!! Seriously? It's one thing to question his bat or his arm, but as far as fielding he's been pretty good throughout his career.

Dye Coming Back? Sun-Times Article
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 6, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) If it's going to take Dye a month to be ready, it's kind of stupid for anybody to sign him for more than 500,000. It's going to be half a year production and we could be way out of it by the time he's ready. He blew it by not getting anything done in the offseason. If he signs i'm sure it will be a pro-rated contract

Former NFL Star Lawrence Taylor Arrested
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) I'd seriously make chicks sign Letters of Consent with an attorney present if I were a celebrity/well-known person before I banged them. Another money grab. Or have a camera in your room set up.

White Sox Winner!
QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 6, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) Okay, so Freddy looked passable? I believe that he's doing a fine job as the 5th starter. Sure, he struggles and sweats, but he only gave up 2 runs (a lot of hits, though) and gave the Sox a chance to win the game. I think people need to remember that Freddy is the 5th starter now, not the 2 or 3 (I realize Gavin, MB and Peavy havent made that obvious yet). That is kind of how 5 starters are supposed to look. If Freddy pitches like he did today he will often give up more than just 2 runs. But over the course of the season he will continue to have results such as today and better as well, and at least in my opinion, that makes him one of the best 5th starters in the league. Expectations need to be tempered with him. The bar is set a lot lower for a good outing from Freddy than it is with our other 4 pitchers.

Rank the White Sox minor league outfielders on MLB potential upside
QUOTE (scenario @ May 5, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) So.... what does this have to do with the topic of the thread... that you started? Hijacking your own thread (about Sox minor leaguers... in a minor league forum no less) to talk about the Twins... again? hahaha J4L will love that.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ May 5, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) you don't know why it's necessary to back up claims with evidence? I have degrees in statistics and in history, i'm very aware of why it is necessary to back up claims with eveidence. I was just amazed that someone who is seemingly as informed as you appear to be has never once read an article or seen a news story where they talked about a crime related to terrorism carrying something other than a life sentence. It seemed as if you were being difficult for the sake of being difficult by making me "prove it". You're right, they can, and often will. But the only point I was trying to make was that it was very conceivable that someone could be convicted of an attempted terrorist attack or with aiding in one or whatever, and then one day being eligible for release. That all stems from your initial statement of what would it matter if they were in prison the rest of their life. I was only trying to illustrate that that may not always be the case.

5/4 Games
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Dolsi started last night? Is that an emergency thing, or something new? Probably an emergency thing. Torres "started" game 1 since Harrell wasn't going to go back out so they needed another starter.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 5, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) Sorry, I meant Lieberman. I get my rebels mixed up. As long as we're talking about CONVICTION, and as long as they have some other country to go back to (what if they were born and raised here?), then I agree with you. That would be a problem and that is why you can't just blindly go along with what Lieberman was saying. My point was just to say that I hardly think it was an insane statement or idea that was unworthy of discussion. And to bmags, I don't have any specific individuals, and I'm not going to bother googling one, but I know I've read articles about convictions of 10, 15, 20 years etc for involvement in plots or attempted plots.
