  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) I get not charging him criminally, but I cannot believe he won't be disciplined by the school. You'd have to be a complete moron to not know that was wrong, which means he made a conscious choice to do it. Well, everyone always says teaching jobs are a cinch to obtain in the South...
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2010 -> 12:51 PM) George W. Bush Whoops my bad. Forgot you were of the "well they did it first so it doesnt matter this time" crowd.
  3. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 18, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) God...how could this season get any worse? He could be placed on the DL...
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 18, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) Can you give me a hypothetical scenario where you think firing a hitting coach is necessary? Midseason, I just don't know what it accomplishes aside from pointing a finger. I'm not trying to defend Walker here, I just think the effect of pitching/hitting coach changes mid-year is generally overblown.
  5. QUOTE (SnB @ May 18, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) If I make one meal every 2 weeks, my wife is ecstatic. crock pots are my friend. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I'm gone from 7 am to 7 pm every day during the week so when I get home i dont wanna make anything that takes any amount of time. Letting something cook all day in the crock pot is wonderful.
  6. Conn. Dem misstated military record And as a side note, the Republicans are seriously gonna put up Linda McMahon as their nominee? Ugh.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 18, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) I'd be fine with it. It sounds like he can actually play and we really need middle-infield depth. Actually, I think I read he's a 1B/LF/RF type of player believe it or not
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 18, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) Isn't he actually a legitimate prospect? I haven't been able to find much, if any scouting information on him. Yeah he was first team all state this year, signed with South Florida, plays multiple positions. There isnt much about him out there but I remember someone saying he actually was legitimate and could go as high as the 2nd round. It'll just be interesting to me if the Sox do draft him what the reaction here would be.
  9. Shabazz Napier, rated #9 PG in next years class signed with UConn and was able to re-classify himself to be eligible for the 2010-2011 college basketball season. Also, in sad news, Texas A&M recruit Tobi Oyedeji was killed in a car accident this past weekend
  10. I'm interested in seeing what the (over)reaction will be here if (when?) we draft Ozney Guillen in an early round
  11. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ May 17, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) is that a blue merrill? I had a tri-color and a sable growing up. Yes it's a blue merle. I had a sable growing up also. And his brother was a tri-color, wanted to get them both but decided not to.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) If I was going to pick one of these 2 tours, which would you go with? Leeds Castle, Canterbury, and Dover or Oxford, Cotswolds, Stratford-on-Avon, and-Warwick-Castle While going to Warwick castle would be ultra-cool (to me at least) since it was commissioned and built by William the Conqueror, I'd go on the first tour you listed. Canterbury Cathedral is one of the most famous churches in Christendom and is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 17, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) I hate to say it, but Serbia is catching some breaks in this group. Ballack out for Germany, both Essien and Agogo out for Ghana. Essien and John Mensah were included on Ghana's roster and last I've read both are tentatively expected to be ready.
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 17, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) Oh, please. It was absolutely ridiculous and there’s no excuse for it. I don't see the point in downplaying this. Which is funny, because you do feel the need in grossly overreacting to it.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) You pretty much have to do the touristy history stuff. Parliment, Tower of London, Clock Tower, Tower Bridge (which isn't the London Bridge as most people think), changing or the guard at the palace, Piccadilly Circus, double-decker bus tour, Westminster Abbey, pubbing and clubbing in Soho. . . and drinking as much Real Ale as you can while the getting's good. That is now in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) While in London, what are the key things to see/do based upon people's personal experiences? Same question about Paris? In Paris, I'd recommend the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame, Pantheon, Champs-Elysees, Conciergerie, Sainte Chappelle. Palace of Versailles is slightly outside of Paris, but very much worth it. Bayeux is a doable day trip as well that has a lot of history. The Champagne region is also very close. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) I have yet to make the Belgium pilgrimage, but advising that it's ok to just give the place a miss sounds like advice from a non-beer person. How can you not go to the Disneyland of beer if you have the opportunity?!?? Oh I love Belgian beer. But when I go back I'd go to Bavaria, Netherlands, Ireland or England for the "beer experience" before stopping in Belgium. I mean if I was going to be there for a few weeks i'd go to Belgium for a day or two, but on a budgeted schedule I just feel there are way better places to use your limited time there.
  17. Ballack out of World Cup Ankle injury in the FA Cup final. Sucks for Germany. And ironically, it was on a tackle by Kevin Prince-Boateng, who will play for Ghana, who is in the same group as Germany in the tournament.
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 16, 2010 -> 11:31 PM) Yes, it is. It's unquestionably the dumbest baseball move i've ever seen in my lifetime. You must not watch a lot of baseball.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) I smell another "Are you in?" thread on its way. I almost made it as a joke last week but didn't want to be that guy.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) "After the Royals sweep the Sox with new manager Yost, proving "new blood" can create a quick chemistry change in the clubhouse" I guess one could argue he left that guy in too long when Peavy pitched. I know if Ozzie did it, the FIRE OZZIE threads would be endless. Yet I don't get how Ozzie can't give enough playing time to mediocre players like Kotsay. We went thru that when McKowiak was on the team. I hope the only sensible thing behind it is to hope their value increases for trading purposes. And who should be getting the playing time? Carlos Quentin has been awful all year. Nix doesn't play 1B. Konerko was out with a stiff neck for a couple games, same with Jones. Would you rather Vizquel get those at bats?

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) What was your favorite city in Germany Sonix? I speak a little Deutsch, so it's somewhere that I definitely want to go check out when I eventually make my way over to the UK. I liked Munich probably the most of places in Germany. But of everywhere I visited, Paris and Switzerland were probably my favorite. My German has gone to crap as well. I'm fairly fluent in French but my German was barely conversational at best and is now essentially gone.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:28 AM) Right, I have no problem visiting the Louvre and other large must-do landmarks like that. I meant to say with maybe the extra free time, we would be more into eating at a great restaurant or going to a nice pub instead of visiting a random museum or art gallery. Thanks for the information on Brussels, I have heard great things about Bruges - have you been to Brussels and Bruges? Yes I have. I've been all over western europe (minus the Iberian Peninsula). I lived in Stuttgart for 3 years. Brussels just has nothing to do there. They have a couple famous statues, Mannekan Pis and Hannekin Pis (I'm sure i butchered the spellings) but aside from that it's a boring city. Bruges is kinda considered the "Venice of Northern Europe". It's a much prettier city, but again, if you'd rather have more of an experience, it'd be worth it in my opinion to spend an extra day in the Netherlands (Rotterdam, The Hague), eastern France (Strasbourg, Loire Valley) or do something in Germany (Ruhr Valley or the Rhineland).
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 17, 2010 -> 04:33 AM) A lot of movies I want to see this summer... Iron Man 2 Inception Robin Hood Jonah Hex Splice Toy Story 3 Dinner for Schmucks The Other Guys Machete Probably most excited for Inception. Leo Decaprio + Christopher Nolan has to be awesome. And it looks like it'll be an amazing cinematic experience with stunning visuals. That looks really funny. This summer I want to see Jonah Hex Dinner for Schmucks Killers Grown Ups Salt Valhalla Rising
