  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Why all the negativity in the game thread? There's your answer.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) Your google broke? Too busy writing dissertations.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) Nice "NON-MANAGING" job again Ozzie....!!!! Walk Hamilton to face Guerrero...stupidity and stupid-ness. Nice job throwing the ball around out there too....Hamilton could have scored or at least gotten to 3rd if he was paying attention. Let's play a game, it's called blame ozzie for everything
  4. I'm guessing we can't pick anyone from the Rangers so i'll go with Andruw
  5. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) I see what you did there Vegeta. I love Pierre, but something has to give. I'm sick and tired of those lil popcorn fart hits to the short stop. I'd hate to have to move Rios up there. I say leave him alone before he reverts back to the 2009 second half Alex Rios. And based on every other half of his career him being about how is playing now or better, what makes you believe that is the form to which he will revert back to?
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Kenny Williams has done a great job having a roster prepared to go from the "opening bell" the last two years. True or false? I think based on the results so far, the White Sox would be better off with Clayton Richard and an actual DH (Jones has been fine) like Matsui. I could care less about Poreda. I'd say you are in the minority there. You'd be crazy to rather have Richard over Peavy. Of course, you cite "based on the results so far" which unfortunately is not how these things work. But also, what was the point of bringing up the Chris Young watch? And once again there was a Jim Thome watch. The constant deification of ex-Sox players on this board is just getting so tiresome. It's not just you but the random let's bring up Chris Young to re-visit yet another player we traded away was ridiculous and it's so annoying. It's also funny since we have a thread up now that was created to basically laugh at Seattle for giving us Matt Thornton. Think they wouldn't want him back right about now?
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) Its amazing how tame American sports fans are compared to the rest of the world. We may have our share of dumb drunken assholes, but thats nothing compared to what goes on at soccer games across the world. In particular, South/Central America and West Africa
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:03 PM) EXCEPT FOR HIS DAD, NOT "anyone," technically, would be incorrect. But anyone with the White Sox organization, YES. Chris Young WATCH 2/5 today, 1 R, 5 RBI's, HR (4) Now sitting at .298, 4 HR's, 21 RBI's, .853 OPS. Time for another Phil Rogers article on him me thinks. JIM THOME also says "hi!" Gives the Twins a 2-0 lead with his 4th homer, threatening for Sox to fall a season-high 7 GB. Non-surprising stat line to Ozzie/KW: 278, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 9 BB, 1.117 OPS. How's Javy Vazquez doing? Or Jeremy Reed? Or Miguel Olivo? Marte? Aaron Poreda's certainly doing f***ing great down in the minors isn't he?
  9. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 08:37 AM) FWIW I was at the game sitting in their version of the Scout Seats. In that awful first it was control, control, control... he was all over the place. When he did throw a strike they'd tag him. And by the second inning I believe he was already at 60 pitches. However, from that point on he was cruising most of the way; he settled down. He got some nasty strikeouts and shattered a few bats with inside pitches. I'm not pulling the plug on him just yet. We've been through this feast-or-famine thing with Contreras, who, just when you think he's over the hill, surprises everybody. And I think Peavy's way more mentally tough than him. Speaking of which, first half of 2005 Contreras was awful; for the next half he was the best pitcher in baseball. Not just that but his fastball was sitting at 88-91 MPH. I dont whether or not the gun in Texas is slow but to me that was quite alarming. His stuff seemed to be there but awful location coupled with leaving that slow fastball up killed him. And frankly, after the 1st inning I was so disgusted that I ended up watching the History of America show and only flipping back and forth to the game so I didn't see much of his later performance.
  10. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) He was a solid glove. I remember when he had to fill in for Crede. It shows you how bad this organization is when they let Uribe go and start a season with Josh Can't Fields at 3rd. Defense means nothing to this organization. No it doesnt. At all, actually.
  11. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:00 AM) Run Ricky Run was fascinating Truly. What an odd individual. I wasn't planning on watching it but I watched the first couple minutes and then was unable to ever change the channel.
  12. Red Sox signed a 22 year old Cuban catcher today. Cubano's blog gets the shout out and credit for being the first to report the deal.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) if he keeps hitting, he isn't going back down. As long as he's improving he should be kept up. He's so young it wouldn't hurt to challenge him a little. His initial K rate is very high so far but its a small sample size. Unless he goes all Juan Silverio circa 2008 on us he should finish the year out in Kanny IMO
  14. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.com/2010...ensorship-.html I guess terrorism does work It really is a big deal to them. To me it seems ridiculous but i'm not going to place my religion over anyone else's. The extremism and backlash that comes with "blaspheming" Muhammad is totally uncalled for, obviously, but I'm not going to chastise them for how upset it makes them. In this instance, i'd say the network should have told Parker/Stone just to not go there.
  15. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) Wellpoint (Known many places as Blue Cross Blue Shield) apparently has been targeting insurance clients who suffer from breast cancer. http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE63L2LS20100422 Obviously this is just one individual circumstance, but my mom had breast cancer 6 years ago (she's fine now) and Blue Cross Blue Shield was great. No hassles and very helpful, reimbursed/paid for pretty much everything.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) It's mid April and this board is pretty much a ghost town. There's hardly any conversation going on in the Pale Hose Forum and he happens to be a very good writer that I enjoy reading. Should we only allow people to post who are complete cheerleaders? If so, the board will go days without any activity. Yes because that is the only other possible option... But if you're fine with the constant negativity all the time pretty much not matter what, then by all means I apologize. There's a reason this place doesnt have the discussion it once used to.
  17. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 12:35 PM) NCAA about to approve 68 team NCAA tourney. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5125307 Haven't seen the details, but I'm guessing 4 play in games. TruTV huh. You can catch Matt's crazy antics on Operation Repo and then a 2nd round NCAA game. Solid. I'm fine with the mini-expansion. All it would do is increase from 1 play-in game to 4. I doubt it but I hope it never goes beyond that. Also awesome that Turner got some of the rights. Now you don't have to have direct TV or an internet feed to watch whatever game you want. Big plus with that one.
  18. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) Yea, its an interesting discussion, but then again our country wasnt occupied by another country for years, which is really why they were taught the language. Still, when I went to Italy it was interesting to hear that many schools there require students to learn the basics of English, enough so they can talk to tourists. Im always impressed by those who know more than one language because I have only been able to learn one, and know a very small amount of latin. Many countries in Europe require students to take English in addition to another language of their choosing in school. Frankly, I think the US should mandate more foreign language criteria for students here. Start them off at a younger age like they do in Europe as well.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 11:39 AM) caulfield could you please stop with your daily doom and gloom threads? We all know the team is struggling, everyone is pissed. We dont need you showing every single connection to every single sox team that struggled in the past 50 years, every day.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) Interesting note on the white board. Below each episode box is who the episode revolves around. Last night was listed as "__oundelay", two weeks from now (the next episode) is , and in three weeks "Across the Seas" is listed as . Any thoughts on what the unseen words are? My guess is the the last one is . Across the Sea is already stated to be about
  21. Trayce Thompson 1-3 with a 2B and RBI so far
  22. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Not yet, but when your co-chairs are dropping out of the campaign and pulling your endorsement (I.E. Connie Mack), its pretty obvious. That plus if you look at his website, its getting really hard to find the word Republican these days. He's not going to win the GOP nomination, that's become clear. So if he wants to run for re-election he has no choice but to run as an I. It's not official but I'd say it's pretty much accepted thats whats happening.
  23. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) Paraphrased from BP's FutureShock portion because I'm not sure if I'm allowed to quote paid content. Trayce Thompson, OF, White Sox (Low-A Kannapolis) Monday’s stats: 2-for-6, HR (2), R, RBI, 2 BB, K, CS Thompson was an uncertainty during last year's draft. He was still rather new to baseball. Despite this, his tools and ceiling ranked with the best of the prep prospects. He might have flown under the radar due to his unimpressive high school stats and rawness. The quickness of Trayce's adjustments has been remarkable. He arrived this year with a better approach at the plate, and has been using a much shorter and smoother swing. It's evident from the two home runs in in the previous 3 games that these changes are paying off, and Thompson has considerable explosive potential.
  24. Sanchez has certainly gotten hot over the last few games. Wonder why Shelby isn't playing today.
