  1. That's gotta be the Puskas award winner this year. That's gonna be hard to top. Alli looks like he is gonna be a monster in the midfield. He's gonna be valued around $60-70M in a few years. What an incredible find for Spurs
  2. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) Not surprised that the White Sox done gone all White Sox on us again. It doesn't make it less disappointing Oh it's disappointing for sure, but the White Sox don't give out large contracts. It's just not what they do. Incredibly disappointing, incredibly unsurprising
  3. Heyman is saying Nats are offering 5/100 and might be willing to go higher. So it looks like we're out. No one should seriously be that surprised by this.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Watched the first episode of Man in the HIgh castle (or whatever it is called). Holy hell, first episode has me hooked. So well done how they did it too. I'm on episode 4 and am really enjoying it as well.
  5. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) Finally booked my next trip to Europe in September: Frankfurt Bucharest Athens Santorini Positano area Venice Munich (Oktoberfest) Luxembourg 3 weeks total, would love to spend more time in some of the spots (only 2 nights on Santorini) but man I am so pumped for this. Have you booked all of your hotels and train tickets/flights? It looks like you're going from Greece to Positano then on to Venice. I would highly suggest thinking about stopping in Tuscany for a night or two, even if it comes at the expense of Venice. We spent three weeks in Europe (Rome, Tuscany, Milan, Antibes, Paris, Iceland) this past summer and our time in Tuscany was a major highlight. It's so beautiful and relaxing, the wine is superb and we already want to go back for longer. Venice, from prior experience and from friends, is kind of a disappointment. Just a suggestion, but that trip sounds awesome. We wanted to go back this summer (Germany/Switzerland/Austria) but we just bought a house so I think we're just gonna do a quick trip to Ireland since it'll be much cheaper and we've never been there either yet.
  6. Jordan Morris is turning down an offer from Werder Bremen to sign with the Seattle Sounders. That's disappointing. I really feel like MLS is hurting the USMNT. No US field players are testing and pushing themselves overseas any more.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 07:06 AM) I think the Broncos are going to make sure Peyton's last game isn't a loss to Tom Brady. I don't think the Broncos really care about that. I think New England wins by a TD+
  8. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) How about they move the Jags. Jacksonville is a bloody awful place to have a football team. I bet the Jags end up in London. They already play one game a year there and Khan also owns a Premier League team in London as well. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 11:38 AM) If only the Thunder moved back to Seattle...
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 08:40 AM) This makes the most sense to me. Two teams from the same division in the same stadium never made sense to me, plus the Rams are putting more of their own money into a new stadium in LA. I get that the St. Louis people are upset about losing the team, but people weren't going to the games. Every time the Bears played there, the place was more than half Bears fans. I completely understand them being upset too, but the city did take the Rams away from LA initially.
  10. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) Pittsburgh was the favorite all week. Did it ever drop under 2 points? I'd be surprised if it did since it sounded like the money was backing the Steelers. It went to -3 after I took the 2.5 and I know I saw it down to -2 on Saturday morning. I'm not sure where it finished.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 08:07 PM) Things I'd do to see Eric Berry and Sean Smith in the Bears secondary. Both free agents at seasons end... Feeling in KC is that Berry will be back, whether they franchise him or not (Jaye Howard might get the franchise tag). Hali will probably come back on the cheap for one more season as a rotational guy and Derrick Johnson will probably also be brought back. The feeling is they are going to have to let Sean Smith walk. That played into them taking Peters and Nelson in the first 3 rounds of this past draft. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 12:26 AM) Way to give it away Cincinnati/strange non-calls and calls officials. I wanted Kansas City to play Denver again. Instead it's New England. I would have rather played Denver also, but NE doesn't scare me. Without Maclin it's gonna be difficult, you know Belichick is gonna key on Kelce, but NE's o-line is so bad, this defense could really give NE fits. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 04:04 AM) Pitt and the under was such easy money Ugh. I had Pittsburgh -2.5
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 06:22 PM) Sooo any shows that just started in the new year worth a watch? American Crime looks interesting. Not sure if you need to watch the first season or not. I am looking forward to Billions on Showtime and the OJ show on FX. Episode 1 of Shades of Blue was alright.
  13. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) From Nightengale: The #WhiteSox haven't changed stance, still won't give more than 3 years to any of the free-agent OFs, @Marty2634 So basically, the White Sox won't be signing any of the big name free-agent OFs. That's great.
  14. Dan LeBatard's troll job on twitter last night about being one of the people who did not vote for Griffey was hilarious. Some of the responses from people (and he retweeted a ton of them) were gold.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) Moneyball 2: Gridiron Metrics Go for two and stop punting in positive territory
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) If the bolded is true of Edgar Martinez, it's also true of David Ortiz. Their career accolades are very similar, actually. Bunch of Silver Sluggers and AS appearances, no MVPs. Ironically, David Ortiz is a seven-time recipient of the MLB's Edgar Martinez award, lol. I'd argue differently when one of the two finished 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 4th in MVP voting during a 5-year stretch. You can argue about PED speculation if you'd like, and that's probably fair, but the original comment was if PEDs were a non-issue
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) PEDs or not, there's little justification for Ortiz in the Hall and E Martinez not, not to mention not being able to garner even 50%. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Agreed, if Ortiz gets in and Edgar doesn't, I will be sharpening my pitchfork. Meh. If PEDs were not an issue at all, Ortiz still has better case. He's probably going to finish 19th all time in HR and 22nd in RBI. He's finished in the top 5 of MVP voting 6 times and has 10 AS Games. Edgar Martinez had a better BA/OBP but he never finished in the elite of the league. Martinez is like Mike Mussina in that regards.
  18. I'm also torn on this. I think he definitely may have done it, but I think the investigation was terribly flawed and the prosecution did not at all prove his guilt beyond reasonable doubt. I think it's clear as day the key was planted. (It was her key, except her DNA was not on it? And it wasn't found for days until Detective Lenk magically stumbled across it? Come on.) The juror statement about being fearful of consequences is something I also thought about while watching this. If you truly believed the police had a hand in this, or at the very least made it worse by manipulating evidence, why would you think that they wouldn't make life difficult for you afterwards if the verdict was not to their liking?
  19. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) I don't think they orchestrated it, but it would not surprise me at all if one or two of them had her killed and framed him. It was all too convenient. He is smart enough to clear almost all of the blood and dna evidence (which would be almost impossible according to the expert on the documentary), but he is dumb enough to leave her car on the property with his blood in it and bone fragments in several places? And he does this right before he is about to get a big pay day from the Sheriff's department? A pay day (he asked for $36M) that was more than what the county took in revenue-wise as well.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 06:30 PM) 156 public votes- just over 1/3 of the electorate. Griffey - 100.0 Piazza - 86.5 Bagwell - 79.5 Raines - 78.2 On the ballot next year- Manny Ramirez, Ivan Rodriguez, Vladimir Guerrero Interesting to see how the voters treat Manny and Pudge. They'd be shoe-ins if not for suspicions surrounding them. Vlad should be a first ballot guy IMO, but I could see it taking a year or two.
  21. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) And before they got tangled and Beckham "shoves" his forearm into Norman's throat, Norman shoves his left hand in Beckham's throat or chin. And if anything you are a Norman apologist/Giants hater if you call that a push down. That was a quite obvious throw since he stopped his momentum, lifted Beckham and then threw him to the ground. You clearly need to re-watch what you posted if that's your true belief on this one. I thought you were a Dolphins fan for some reason, didn't realize there were any Giants fans on this board. And I'm a Chiefs fan, I couldn't care less about either Carolina or NYG
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) missed the game is there a highlights video of what everyone is talking about? via Deadspin There's a separate article from them linked there too from other incidents in the game. This is only a few.
  23. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) Wrong, Odell wasn't the clear aggressor. Norman body slammed Beckham on the 5th play and started the physical confrontations. http://thebiglead.com/2015/12/20/josh-norm...kham-body-slam/ Haha, "body slammed". OBJ slammed Norman to the ground with much more force shortly later. I love the people using the "but Norman body slammed him!" line. Beckham shoved his forearm right into Norman's throat, they got tangled together, Norman bear hugged, Beckham threw his hands up like he did nothing wrong and Norman pushed him down. Anyone calling that a body slam either doesn't know what a body slam is or is a Beckham apologist/Giants fan.
  24. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Norman is a punk and OBJ has tarnished his rep big time for now but the refs were stupid yesterday. The refs could've diffused this early on yesterday and flagged Norman a couple of times for the crap he was doing after the play. He got away with it and kept poking Odell and then things escalated big time and the refs couldn't reign it back in. Um, no. OBJ was going at it with every Panthers CB. Was Norman innocent? No. But OBJ was the clear aggressor all game long. But yes, I agree that the refs grossly mishandled that game from the get go. This is the type of performance that should get referees fined or suspended. That was awful.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 11:11 AM) Could be a huge day for Tottenham if scores hold. Tottenham up 2-0 on Southhampton MU down 2-0 to Norwich City Liverpool lost too. Would have been nice if that Everton-Leicester match ended in a draw. Although still unlikely, I've got $25 on Tottenham to win at 125-1 odds. You never know!
