  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 08:15 AM) I started watching Game of Thrones onDemand. Ok, I get it now, i understand the attraction. I just finished episode 8 season 1 (The Pointy End). Cant wait to be caught up by march for season 3 Read the books. Seriously.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 10:48 PM) Should anyone but Von Miller win defensive player of the year? JJ Watt and Aldon Smith are still in the running
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) Ok here is my dilemma. In the talkbears cash league I have Brady and RG3. I drafted Brady in the first round and grabbed RG3 late because its a keeper league and you lose the round before the one you drafted the player in the previous year, which is why I didnt trade RG3 at any point. I considered trading Brady but wanted to see more out of RG3 and wasnt getting much value with any offers. Also, passing tds are worth 6. Ive started Brady the entire season despite RG3 being ranked higher than him in a few odd weeks. Now that the playoffs are here I have Brady going against Houston at home which might be a tough matchup. I have to keep going with Brady dont I? Wouldnt it be a little much to bench my first round pick for the first time in the playoffs? RG3s matchup isnt great either against Baltimore. Then in another league, this isnt the playoffs yet in this league, should I bench Fitz for either Lloyd or Maclin? Or I suppose I could use Pettigrew as the WR/TE flex spot over Fitz also. Fitz has killed me most of the season so I wonder if anyone else has cut their losses with him yet. Arizona in Seattle, I'd go with Pettigrew over Fitz. Pettigrew has been getting tons of targets and has consistently been in the 10-14 range in PPR leagues. As for Brady vs RG3, that's tough. Houston is good defense but it's Brady. I'm in a league with 6 points for passing TDs too and I have RG3 and Aaron Rodgers. I'm going to start RG3 this week. Baltimore defense has not been great recently and RG3 has running ability that gets cheap points.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 04:01 PM) why? you could make a lot of it for fairly cheap and it would last a while. I maybe cooked 5 times in college. Pizza, take out chinese, soup, sandwiches, chef boyardee, easy-mac, microwave dinners were so much quicker and easier
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) 3 weeks ago in desperate need of a WR, I traded Stafford (I have RG3) for Denarius Moore, thinking he was about to go off. Now he is on my bench in the playoffs. Luckily I snagged Danario Alexander off waivers then too. (I bet Moore scores tonight because I posted this) I dropped Moore last week. And with Amendola and Harvin's injury plus Antonio Brown being not yet at 100% I'm now starting Alexander and TY Hilton. Ugh.
  6. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) In my league everyone still has to win a chance to win money, even teams out of the playoffs. The playoff winner obviously wins the $3k and the authentic Hulk Hogan championship belt, but the team with the highest accumulative points for the last 3 weeks wins a prize of $1k as well. Last year the last place team in our league won the prize for most points in the last 3 weeks combined. As far as keepers go, you can keep anyone on your roster as long as they were drafted in the 3rd round or above. When you decide to keep someone, you MUST draft them 2 spots ahead of where you drafted them the year before. I.E. Danny Amendola drafted in the 13th round this year, next years draft you pick him up in the 11th. Then every season after that you only have to draft them one spot ahead of the previous years spot. Also rookies that are drafted may be kept in the round in which they were drafted in. What's your buy-in
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) not weird. #college #hangover What's weird is that you were able to eat lasagna in college
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) Ancient history won't help you so much in getting back to the top, but it will help you stay there if you can manage to get there, so Tennessee is a much more attractive job than other middle of the pack big conference teams. Tennessee would be a nice job, but it's not a top 10 job and probably not top 20 either.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) I always am amazed that guys have opportunities to cheat with married women. I can see not telling a single girl you meet at the club you are married and cheat in that way. But I never get in opportunities where I could cheat with a married woman. The guys I know who cheat do so because they want a hot woman. It has nothing to do with their current wives. They are just selfish snakes who want sex with hot women. They still want their wives. They still want family life. They just want sex. They refuse to give it up even though they took a solemn vow. I met an older woman at a bar a few years ago (she was 34 or 35 and I was 24 or 25 at the time) and we hit it off and thought things might be getting somewhere. Then I found out she was married and had 2 kids so I got immediately turned off and left.
  10. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) I'm the Commish of a standard Yahoo! FF league. Today, I locked the rosters of the non-playoff teams because some owners were still adding/dropping players despite the fact that there were no more games left to play. One owner is really upset, claiming he paid his league fees for 16 weeks of FF, not just 13 and that if a playoff team wanted the player they could pick him up first (which isn't really true if it is off waivers). I made an exception for potential keepers. We have a system were you can keep a player depending on the round in which they were drafted, so there is some value in picking up hurt star players or potential up and comers. My view is that their season is over by virtue of not making the playoffs. The owners still playing have a chance to win some decent money, and they shouldn't be shortchanged by some bored owner picking up and dropping random players. Any thoughts? Anyone disagree with my decision? I agree that their rosters should probably be locked if there is nothing left to play for (if you have a consolation bracket, that is something left to play for). However, if this was not established at the start of the season then you probably shouldn't be changing things around
  11. QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) Completely agree. It would also take away the surprise element that onside kicks can have (i.e Saints-Colts superbowl) Fake punt
  12. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) Let's just eliminate all contact in football. Basically changes it from a kickoff to a punt, really not a big deal, especially since touchbacks would be less likely in theory
  13. Goodell floats idea for changing "kickoffs" This was in the news a few months ago when Schiano mentioned it, but it's interesting that it seems the NFL is actually considering it. I actually don't necessarily hate it, but I don't know that I want to see kickoffs go away either
  14. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 09:22 AM) I'm sure he meant by means of all time wins, which they are. Top NCAA Football Programs By Wins Tenn has a few things for a coach to be concerned about. There was a time when Fulmer absolutely killed it in out of state recruiting. The borders of North Carolina and South Carolina have really closed down, making it that much tougher to pull the elite kids from this area. Add to that, they are looking for their 4th head coach since 2008? This is a big time make or break hire overall, in both overall program stature, and boosters eyes I'm sure too. Ok. I read that as stating they were a "top 10 all-time program", which I would many reservations with.
  15. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 12:19 AM) So I'm drunk and officially in meltdown mode. What the f*** has happened to Tennessee? We're a f***ing Top 10 team of all-time! Why the f*** can't we get a f***ing coach??? All-time? Not quite so sure about that
  16. Like many have said, not thrilled with three years, but with the 3B demand, 2 years probably wasn't getting it done
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 04:00 AM) Yunel Escobar to Rays. LOL Marlins. Getting rid of him right away is probably a good call by the Marlins
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) 8 team playoff? Pretty standard for 12/14/16 team leagues
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) No way. Jackson bet against his own team. Everything I have read about Rose indicates he at least bet with his own team. But probably not really. QUOTE (YASNY @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) He admitted it. He signed a paper he was advised to without fully knowing what he was signing (illiterate) and was given bad counsel by the Comiskey's attorney (who wanted to distance himself from the players.) The main players in the plot all would later confirm that he was never present at the meetings and they only used his name to give more credibility to the plot
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) As an example, the photographer should be charged as an accessory. Welcome to the age of taking photos first, helping second. (Yes, I know it was probably too late to help; but, why print it in a paper, let alone photograph it?) That might qualify as one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. As for the picture itself, I'm kind of disgusted that that paper would choose to run that.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) That's why Tuitt would have been higher on my ballot than Te'o was. Speaking of that, my top 10 would have been: 1. Manziel (I was rooting for Alabama vs TAMU, and I couldn't believe how good he was) 2. Mariota 3. Klein 4. Miller 5. Tuitt 6. Te'o 7. McCarron 8. Ball 9. Lynch 10. Barner Mine would be 1. Manziel 2. Klein 3. Miller 4. Austin 5. Te'o 6. Lee 7. Carey 8. Lynch 9. Mariota 10. Boyd
  22. 2nd place in one, 3rd in another. My third league I had 4th most points (12 teams) but failed to make the playoffs - frustrating.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 08:39 AM) Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN NYY have been open to talks about Curtis Granderson. If they move his $15m salary, it would provide more flexibility to do other things. Huh...not used to seeing the Yankees act fiscally responsible
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) Bilas admitted he was wrong fairly quickly IIRC. He was the "Herbstreit" in that manufactured outrage segment. I actually like Bilas, he called the Kansas SIU sweet 16 game in 07 and was nothing but complimentary. Apart from his Duke homerism, I also think he does a particularly good job with college basketball in general.
