Sox looking at low-end starter, trading Floyd
ChiSox_Sonix replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) I'm sure the O's would love him... The problem is how do we match up with them? I wonder what we would need to include with Floyd to get them to consider Jonathan Schoop? -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) Betting on college bowl games is tough. You have no idea how teams will react to the long layoff or how that affects game plans and what not. And then some kids enjoy the free gifts and bowl parties and don't care about the game. Especially one's with little to gain in terms of current draft status -
Brady Quinn was really good in his press conference after the game yesterday. He also played well, which was nice. I don't think he's an answer at QB but I think he has definitely shown he can be a team leader and I like what I saw out of him. Hopefully he finishes up the year well Here's the press conference if anyone was interested

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 12:33 AM) I can always appreciate a good bad guy, but the governor in Walking Dead really just annoys me to all hell. I know the entire 2nd half of the season is going to be dedicated to a battle with him but here is hoping he is killed in 3 episodes and Andrea follows soon after. Yeah, Andrea is horrible. Hopefully she somewhat avenges herself and helps out Darryl. I didn't read the comics, though I am very tempted to right now, so I don't know if this Darryl/Merle meet-up resembles anything, but I'm really interested to see what happens. My guess is the Governor forces Merle to try and kill his brother to "prove" he is not one of them

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 05:52 PM) Vanderbilt's final coaches' poll ballot: 1 Alabama 2 Georgia 3 Florida 4 Notre Dame 5 LSU 6 Oregon 7 Texas A&M 8 South Carolina I don't necessarily disagree in terms of team quality, but that is absurd. ND has zero losses, they deserve to have the #1 ranking. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) Juuust a bit outside. http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/1874zezcsj...if/original.gif Gotta wonder why Ginn didn't just attempt to fall on the ball and cover it up instead of trying to take an angle on it to pick it up and run. Looks like the Rams have the 49ers number this season.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) Jordan Lynch can hang vs anyone, and I hope we get to see it as that would be infinitely more entertaining then any of the other orange bowl match ups. He's never seen a front 7 as athletic and fast as FSU. The speed of the game will completely different to anything he's ever seen. I'd be very surprised if this game was particularly close. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) Florida State lost to NC State and beat Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech by less than a touchdown. I think NIU can certainly keep it close against them. It's gonna be a blowout. Just athletically, especially on the lines, NIU just doesn't compare at all. FSU has several players on their lines that will be playing on Sundays. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 07:58 AM) Expect to see Northern Illinois get voted mysteriously low on (or left off of) the ballots of the Big 12 coaches, resulting in NIU ending up 17th in the BCS Standings and opening a BCS Bowl slot for Oklahoma. However, if that does not happen, they will almost certainly go to the Orange Bowl. I don't see any way the Sugar Bowl picks them over Louisville. Yep. Completely agree and that sucks. -
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 02:45 AM) Need to pick between Murray, Beanie and Moreno in a PPR to go with Doug Martin and Alfred Morris. In another league I need to decide between Flacco vs Pitt, Palmer vs Cleveland or Henne vs Buff. I'd go Moreno. Murray will be limited and Beanie went in questionable so LSH will get work. Gonna be a monsoon in Oakland so stay away from Palmer. Henne vs Buffalo might actually put up the better fantasy stats than Flacco

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 09:17 AM) You mean like what Xavier had the guts to do with their best returning player this year? UCONN also kicked Nate Miles out the door two days after arriving on campus for violating a restraining order by calling the party who had the order placed against him -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) When were there other accusations of sexual assault by that or any other ND player? And those aren't "my excuses". They are the facts that determine how the legal case did or did not progress. Only at ND does everybody else expect players to be kicked off the team just for being accused of crimes that can't come close to being proven. Oh, well maybe at Duke as well. It's in the linked article. The stories may be made up like you said before, it's been known to happen. But I don't believe for a second it is beyond a university, any university, but especially one with as much power as a ND, to attempt to suppress something like that. It's irresponsible to accuse and pronounce guilt based on just what is present, but it's just as irresponsible to dismiss it because you are a fan/alumni/student/staff of said university. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 09:02 AM) She filed a police report. It was made public. The allegation was unwanted contact to her clothed breasts and genitals, but all the ND haters ignored that and started throwing around the word 'rape', because the ND haters are a bunch of sheep who believe everything they read that is the slightest bit negative about ND without looking it up themselves. Meh, semantics. So there was no penetration but the sexual assault charge remains. Doesn't make your excuses for the situation any more relevant. So the terminology was wrong, but the idea remains. And the report also mentioned several other instances of "sexual assault", not just the one girl. That quote can work both ways. Blinders are owned by both sides. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) There was no rape, so if you're going to be a smartass and take shots, you should probably bother to learn the details of the story, or at least fake living up to the standards of knowing something about what's going on. Do you know details that aren't public due to connections to someone or something? Otherwise I'm not sure you can say that. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 08:44 AM) You mean a report full of a bunch of hearsay and no evidence? Sure it could be, and the accusers could all be liars, it's happened before. But there seems to be an awful lot of it. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) Should I pick up Jacquizz Rodgers to start at flex? My RBs are S. Jackson, Bradshaw, and Dwyer. I don't know if I'd start him this week, but I'd definitely pick up Rodgers. If the league is PPR and gives credit for return yards I'd be more inclined to start Rodgers. Dwyer is in a bad situation and Jackson has to deal with SF. And I just don't like Bradshaw
