George Martin released another sample chapter from Winds of Winter Arianne WoW Sample Chapter

Facebook stock climbed over $30 for the first time since June. I made a modest investment when it dipped down to $20 and am glad I did.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) What happens when you combine every character to play Batman in film (Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale) into one face? Perfection! Kinda see some Johnny Depp in there too

Lovie Smith may interview for the Chiefs DC position. I'd have no problems at all with that.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) Made my bets today: $50 on Notre Dame +9½ at 1:1 $50 on over 40.5 at 1:1 $50 on Notre Dame to win at 3:1 $50 on Notre Dame -5½ at 5:1 And this is why I never bet on games involving teams I root for -
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 7, 2013 -> 05:11 PM) I heard that the girl was taken over state lines. Couldn't that make it eligible for the Feds? Good point. Possibly. But was she actually "taken" from WV, or is that just where she is from?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2013 -> 05:10 PM) This is making the rounds today. Well, it's often a really hard case to try, even if there is physical evidence. A lot of times it comes down to a literal "he said, she said".

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 7, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) I hope it's decided by the end of the 1st quarter. Plus, if ND wins, the Irish "fans" at work will be the most ungracious winners ever. Yeah, I hate Alabama and think Nick Saban is a douche but ND fans are so obnoxious and unbearable. And for some reason this year it seems the number of people I know who are "huge Notre Dame fans!" has exploded. Weird. -
Seriously, can't some organization from outside look into and do something? Because trusting the local authorities in this is absurd.

It's official. Andy Reid in at HC in Kansas City and Scott Pioli is out as GM. As a Chiefs fan, I'm super pumped about this. Andy Reid was the scapegoat in Philly. He's a good coach. We have the #1 pick in the draft and despite many people's perceptions, we don't have a bad team. 5 Pro Bowlers plus 2 alternates proves that the talent is present. Can't wait for the draft in April

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 02:07 PM) So lets kick this thing off with a little rumor nugget about the upcoming Playstation console: http://kotaku.com/5972787/sony-patent-coul...ext-playstation So, two things I have read rumor wise about this console is 1: it will not be backwards compatible with PS3(and will force you to get those games on the PS Network) and 2: it will destroy the used game market with playstation. If this above patent comes to fruition, your game will only work with your console. No going to friends houses with your games, no renting. Your console, thats it. That sucks.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 10:28 AM) @AdamSchefter From @mortreport and me: Chiefs on verge of a deal with Andy Reid. One source said “the major issues have been discussed and agreed upon.” I will be ecstatic if this goes through. Would be our best coach since Schottenheimer

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:41 AM) Alabama's perception is based on their performance in the SEC, which is proving to be weaker than people thought, but if you want to hand me some money by giving me ND and 10 points, I'll gladly take it. I think their perception is based off of how they actually looked. And I don't really think the SEC is proving to be "weaker", they just havent showed up. Michigan played very well, Clemson is a really good team, Florida looked horrible, which was shocking. Georgia didn't look as good as they have before, but not having Jenkins anchoring that line was a big deal against that rushing game. Bowl games aren't always great indicators of teams or conferences. I didn't watch the entirety of any of those games, but between underclassmen leaving and uninspired play due to injury fear or malaise, injuries, coaching changes, roster fluctuation etc...bowl season can be pretty random. I'm not directly attributed any of that to any specific game, because I didn't watch enough of them, that is a statement about bowls in general. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 07:38 AM) SEC is horribly overrated. Can't believe people still think Alabama wins by double digits. I don't know how last night's performance by Florida has anything to do with Alabama -
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) Mock time. In a perfect world, meaning a good player at the position is there I'd like to see the bears draft (We all know I have no life so I'll go in depth here) 1st Round- OT Even if they get a top tier LT like Long, Clady, or Beatty it'd be nice to have a new RT as well, moving Webb to a backup role. Mock pick (using Draftteks mock)- Eric Fisher 6'8" from Central Michigan 2nd Round- LB/TE This all depends on how Emery views Shea McClellin and whether or not Urlacher is back. Lets assume 54 is gone. Where does the staff view Shea? If they keep him at DE then we'll need an LB. If they move him to an LB spot then we might wanna address DE latter on and garb a TE here. I'd really like to see Shea moved to an LB position, he's got + speed, and he just didn't really look like a starting DE. Briggs-Roach-Shea is what I'd like to see next year if 54 is gone. Mock pick- Zach Ertz 6'6" outta Stanford 4th Round- OC At this point, in this perfect world, the starting OL is Fisher-Louis-Garza-Carimi-Long(or another top tier LT).. You have Webb, and James Brown as backups at the OG and OT, Edwin Williams is a FA so a backup to Garza would be needed. Mock pick- Braxston "Cave Man" Cave Notre Dame's OC 5th Round- DE Izzy and Pep are getting old and in this situation I'm moving Shea to LB so let's try and develop one while we still have those 2 to learn from Mock Pick- Datone Jones UCLA- looking at his strengths and weaknesses he could benefit from workin with Pep. Since draftteks mock only goes 5 rounds, I'd like a speedy WR and a CB in the 6th and 7th. I'd be shocked if he was still there at 20 in round 2. I know Eifert is the guy everyone has going as TE#1 but I personally would prefer Ertz. Depending on who KC takes #1 and who is there when round 2 starts, I wouldn't be opposed to taking him

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/q...x-top-prospect/ I think I am more excited about him than I ever have been about any White Sox prospect. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 11:01 AM) How do they swing that? Is it just the owner meeting with Reid? Seems that way @JasonLaCanfora To those with the immediate question of what would Andy Reid in KC mean for Scott Pioli - it would mean a new GM @SaveOurChiefs Mort also says Reid will not want Pioli around. @SaveOurChiefs Clark Hunt is in Philadelphia to interview Andy Reid today, before Reid travels to Arizona tonight. Nick Jacobs @Jacobs71 Not buying that Pioli is involved in the HC interview process.

Andy Reid interviewing with KC right now. Rumor that Pioli would be out as GM if Reid signed on as HC. I'd be ecstatic if this actually comes to fruition

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Yes, back to poor Marty again. Come on, get back on topic. How about my comparisons for Donnie Veal's trade market? I don't know why people like him are even allowed to keep this up. Everyone knows what he is doing. 4 or 5 pages of this thread are filled up with bulls*** associated with it and the arguing about it that went along with it.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) Why are you making it personal? Calling a troll a troll is "making it personal"? Bulls***. You and everyone else knows what you're doing and it's f***ing annoying, which I'm sure was your goal, so congratulations.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) The Sox were able to get a prospect for Scott Linebrink. Fransico Liriano just got $14 million. If anyone really thinks they couldn't get anything for Matt Thornton, they are just kidding themselves. Or trolling
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) I'm not saying it's going to happen, but it's possible Veal outperforms Thornton next year. Unfortunately, relievers are so volatile year to year that very few GMs would have a ton of faith in Veal, especially based on such a small sample size. On the otherhand, Thornton has been one of the more consistent left-handed relievers in the game and I honestly think some GMs would be willing to pay a premium for that. If a GM has no quality lefties in his pen, Thornton suddenly becomes very attractive. Obviously $6 million ain't cheap, but if the alternative is crap, some GM will come to the table with a decent offer. No arguments with any of that.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) Please confirm you mean performance-wise, ignoring salary completely. If Veal replicates his 2012 performance over a full season then he very well could be. It is highly improbable he does that based on his previous track record, but for arguments sake, say he turned the proverbial corner last season, yeah he could be
