Has anybody had a chance to listen to 1000AM this afternoon? I know Bruce is in FL, just curious when his report is going to be.

Scott Podsednik Re-Signs with White Sox

Crap. Hopefully they can trade him. -
QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 10, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) I'd rather the sox take a flier on Shannon Stewart if the prognosis for his foot is decent. He'd be a short timer. This is the first time I've heard his name, and I love the idea. If healthy, there's our leadoff and starting LF.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
kane0730 replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
From today's Dallas paper: Ron Washington has only been the Rangers manager since Monday, but he is already making Texas a potentially choice destination for free agents. It will take money to get any deals done, but prize free-agent pitcher Barry Zito has placed the Rangers on his short list as a result of Washington's hire. Over lunch Wednesday, Washington said: "Barry Zito called me yesterday. He wants to make a visit here. Texas wasn't on his list, but it is now." ... Washington also said former A's outfielder Jermaine Dye called with the same message. Dye, however, will not be a free agent until next year, as the Chicago White Sox already picked up his option for 2007. -
I'll probably get slammed for saying this, but I'd role the dice and trade 2 (anyone but Garland/Mac) of our starting pitchers. Then insert Haeger into the rotation. You could always skip him in the rotation on off days, which would somewhat limit his starts. Get bullpen help/prospects, turn around and trade a package of prospects for Crawford.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) The only thing worse than winning the "chase" for Juan Pierre to bat him leadoff would be recognizing that he's not a great baseballer and winning the "chase" to bat him 9th.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) If we're creating a hierarchy of blame here, Buehrle first and foremost deserves the number one position. Yes, Guillen should utilizie his bullpen more. Yes, Guillen should know when to pull starters and forget about giving them opportunities to "gain confidence" or earn victories. But who's on the mound? Who has shown himself incapable of pitching over mistakes? Who gave up the balk? What I've seen here these last few pages is Buehrle escaping criticism. He's pitched absolutely dreadful the last month+. Someone can reply, "his struggles are more of an indication to pull him early," but Buehrle's stigma is eating innings. If he's unable to achieve this distinction, what good is he next season? Or this year? I'm not entirely scapegoating Buehrle. Guillen should have shown less patience when the first two runners were aboard. But I'll never place a managerial decision over the pitcher on the mound -- our 8 million dollar pitcher -- not doing his job. BINGO! -
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) HAWK: "I'll tell you what fiesty. Sometimes the best trade is the one that wasn't made. I'll take our chances with our horses." DJ: "I'm right there with you partner." The chance of hearing this crap tonight: 100%

This morning KW said something to the effect of looking at 3 way trade possibilites. Anyone think this could work?: Sox Get: Soriano Heilman Mets Get: Garcia/Javy Nats Get: Prospects from Mets & Sox

QUOTE(Adam G @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) I've heard that argument, but I dont buy it really. Even if they are technically only 5 games out in the WC, they're 4 games under .500 in the NL. That's an awful team, any way you cut it. Yes they are an awful team, but they play in an equally awful league.

QUOTE(Adam G @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) Smokescreen for us going after Andruw Jones? *crosses fingers* ATL is very much alive in the WC chase. They're adding (Wickman). NO way they move Jones.

My guess on the line-up against Santana tonight: Pablo Tad Konerko Dye Crede Cintron Uribe Alomar Anderson

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) the Minneapolis Star Trib says the Twins are the front runner for C-Lee I'd love to see Carlos play LF everyday in that Dome. I seem to remember him losing many balls in the lights.
