QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) "The Nature Boy" is in a world of grief right now, although if any of his soon to be ex-wife's claims are true, he's also quite the prick. http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/ent...ip/13307913.htm Brief summary: Divorce Spousal Abuse Adultery IRS Troubles Road Rage ....yikes.... Good Lord...NOT THAT!?!

LOL!!! That's pretty damn funny!

My TV's are pretty much nothing more than monitors for my DVD players. I'm not much of a fan of TV, though I know there is some great stuff out there. I just can't let myself get hooked on anything that I have to watch at specific times. I guess that is why they make TIVO, but then as I sit down to watch a show on TIVO, I would realize that I could be sitting down with a movie, and none of the TV shows would get watched. Then I would get torn apart by guilt for spending the money on a TIVO and the subscription to go with it. The guilt would probably become overriding, and would send me down a deep, dark path that would only lead to drinking too much and probably hard drugs and prostitution. The drugs and booze would be to cope with my guilt, the prostitution would be for fun, but with the excuse of raising money to pay off the TIVO I should never have bought in the first place. Eventually my wife would get tired of the empty bottles lying around the house and having to share the bed with myself and whatever stranger I have brought home that night. I'm no monster you know, I wouldn't be able to kick my wife out of the bed. Then the drugs and "seedy" lifestyle would probably kill me. Then my kids would end up being fatherless. But what kind of father would I be by that point anyways? They would probably be better off, but there is no way that they would be able to see it that way. Then they would probably end up walking down the same path as I, and I can't be responsible for that.

He was 39, his daughter's name is Kayleigh. I'm 35, my daughter's name is Kayleigh. The man was a fan of Marillion I'm betting. Nobody my age uses that spelling and isn't a fan. I don't know why I just felt an odd connection with him. I saw that spelling and it welled up the tears. Sad...very...very sad. Hopefully the little girl can cope.

This is a perfect example of why I would NEVER want to meet Cross face to face! He's sooooo damn good at this type of thing, that I would be fearful of saying something stupid and then finding my self at the mercy of his "attacks". I love the guy, but man, he is brutal. This isn't going to be a long battle at all, as it was just won quite easily. Larry The Cable Guy sucks, and I am still in shock that anybody finds that s*** funny.

I'm amazed at what I am seeing some people considering "bad movies". I'm not even going to list though, as most of what I love will be considered BAD. So therefore, I'll just link to my DVD collection and you can all decide which ones are BAD movies. http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=zombiezilla

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) Here's the thing I don't get. If you want to refuse service to a patient, that's fine and all I guess. But if you do it in direct violation of the company's rules, why shouldn't you be punished? If the ethics of the company I work for bother me, I leave. Why shouldn't someone else do the same? Ordinarily, I don't really support the rights of the company - but I do in this case. It's one thing to discriminate against someone for who or what they are. It's another to do so because of what they do or refuse to do. I fully agree that they should be punished if it is against rules. I just respect them for sticking to their beliefs. That's all.

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) I clarified twice my reference. Go "get" someone else. :rolly There's something about a pot and a kettle...what is that??? :headshake Before this turns to "banning" territory for me...I'm going to go hang someplace else for a spell.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) This isn't clear to you...? If not.. perhaps ask for clarification rather then assuming.. No, that's clear in the fact that you made that statement, but it could be reflecting to where these guys went wrong with their career choices years ago. I dont think the one having a problem here is me, since Tex also misread you. I think you are having a problem successfully backpeddling...again.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) Obviously they are. What that has to do with my suggestion for those that aren't yet, I fail to see.. You statements were never that clear Steff. We were talking about THIS case, not some future case in some future world. You seemed to be blaming these people for not thinking about this in the past. So clearly, you were not that clear if both Tex and I were misunderstanding your case.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) These are new laws that need time to shake out. Sometimes we pass dumb laws and there are better solutions. Every MD is not required to perform abortions. Restaurants are given the right to refuse service. Evil can refuse to print a flier for an gun control rally or the opening of an abortion clinic. A book store can refuse to carry pornography. Doctors can refuse to write the perscription. Psychiatrists can refuse to treat certain disorders. If you check yourself into a Catholic Hospital, they will not perform an abortion, which is consistent with their beliefs. And yes, a Christian Scientist Doctor can refuse to offer treatments inconsistent with his beliefs. Thank you. I'll talk to my father in law about this one for sure. He's one of them there drug prescribers. I'll ask him if when he went into the career if he ever thought he would have to prescribe a medicine of this sort. I bet he's going to say "no". In my town, if the Walgreens refuses it, I can walk across the street to the Osco...if they refuse, I'll got to Wal-Mart...if they refuse...maybe Target... It's not like there is a shortage of places to go. I think the pharmacist are getting a bum rap here a bit.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) Then go work somewhere where it's legal to refuse to fill a script of something you are against. 'kay...sometimes it's easier said than done. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) And ya might want to read up on "that pill". It's "regular" birth control at a higher controlled dose. 'kay...thanks.
-
Guess I'm wacky, I side with the pharmacists on this one. Especially with a pill THAT controversial. Regular birth control is one thing, but this one I understand why some would NOT want to be a part of it. Call me crazy. Oh, and no need to argue with me on it, I won't change my views on this pill.

Listen to me "sing", obviously I have nothing against bad vocalists. I just don't like the guys voice. I also am not a fan of "jokey" type of bands, no matter how "deep" their meanings might be.
-
I'm not a fan of TMBG at all. I think it's mainly his voice. But I have never understood their popularity.

Wow BigEd!!! http://www.espdisk.com/esp1037.html Pretty bad from what I can hear!!! Even the reviews on Amazon complain about people saying these guys couldn't play! Thank you for this one!

QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) Kid, please tell me that you're familiar with The Godz ("Contact High" on ESP lable)? If not, you have to check out this album. There have been a couple of other bands called The Godz but these guys were the first. I'm quite sure none of them really knew how to play an instrument. This album is a classic. I know the name, and which band you are talking about, but I have never heard that album! I will be tracking it down for sure now! Thanks for the tip!!! Worst album of all time: KISS - The Elder!!! Even they write it off to lots of drugs, and so does producer Bob Ezrin. It is so bad, it's the best!

I've never understood the "guilty pleasure" thing. If you like something, why should you ever have to feel "guilty" about it? If it's good to you, then that is all that is needed. Stuff like The Monkees is great music. They were HUGE for a reason, because they turned out great Pop tunes. I should have it in my "best songs" list, but "Pleasent Valley Sunday" is pure brilliance, easily one of the greatest songs ever. Bands like Journey had talent. The songs have aged poorly (almost as poorly as Styx), but there is a ton of talent there, so there is nothing to be ashamed of. You want "bad music"? I've got a ton. It's truely BAD music. Poorly played, poorly written, just downright BAD. THAT stuff I love. A band called "Luv Junkiez" I have a demo of, easily the worst band I have ever heard! Scott Stapp, he's one that can go into the truely BAD stuff. The music behind him might be decent, but his vocals are just plain terrible. Too forced. But I have been enjoying what I have heard from that solo CD, just because it makes me laugh pretty damn hard.

QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Wow, good discussion. Thanks, everyone. A few points: 1. I'm pretty sure that Rush just became eligible this year or last. I certainly could be wrong about that, though. I think they're in soon, maybe the next couple of years. Rush has been around for about 30+ years, I think their eligible. The rule is a certain time from 1st album, right? I'm not too sure, I just know they have been around LONGER than the Sex Pistols and Blondie. I am just using Rush as an example, BTW. The fact that they had the success they did, plus are probably one of (if not THE) most successful bands out of Canada, plus they were one of the biggest of the 70's, PERIOD, they should be in there. Also, where's Cheap Trick? Kind of kidding with that. I love 'em to death, but I am not so sure of their overall worth to the music world. The Cars should be in there though, without a doubt.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) And I'm not nearly the devotee of the style as Kid is (not by a longshot).... Well I'm not THAT into Prog. Yes, I enjoy numerous bands in the style, but I don't try to defend it, as I fully understand why people would NOT like a band like Eloy.

Quite a few feel Lacuna DID perfect it, and Evansence dumbed it down.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) Anybody think any rappers could get in? I think Public Enemy should be in when they can be nominated. Public Enemy had better get in there. So should stuff like Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash. I hate Rap and Hip Hop, but there is no denying how important those bands and people are to an entire movement.
-
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) i have heard 2 or 3 songs from the Gathering. Check out Lacuna. VERY similar to Evan, but much, much, much better IMO.
-
For all of you fans of Evansence, have you heard Lacuna Coil? They were around first, and their vocalist is MUCH better. http://www.lacunacoil.it/ Or The Gathering? http://www.gathering.nl/
