QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) Incorrect. Limp Bizkit spent several years chewing Faith No More's worn jock. They were no more southern than they were good. PS. George Thorogood = southern rock. Period. Thorogood, IMO, is a strange mixed up breed of Rockabilly and Boogie. I don't consider him Southern Rock, no matter how many mulleted rednecks love him.

The funniest part for me is that two of my wifes and my best friends are Connie and Dan. Not the same two people, but still, kind of funny.

QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) that's a shame, i've heard soldier field shows are kinda bleck. I don't think i want to go to arena like shows ever. i like the band right on top of me and then hanging out with them at the bar. Well, I don't think that is even a remote possiblity with a show by The Police.

Word in the wind is that in Chicago they will be playing someplace where football is normally played.
-
Maybe, but one song doesn't make a band Southern Rock. "Hold On Losely" then would mean that .38 Special is a Pop band.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:47 AM) Southern Canada, maybe? I seriously can't think of one tune that sounds even close to Southern Rock. Here is a cool new Southern(ish) band: http://www.myspace.com/voodoomoonshine

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) Georgia Satellites, Outlaws (also their Ghost Riders ), Stevie Ray, Thorogood, Molly Hatchet, Elvin Bishop, Blackfoot, OMD, April Wine

I never would have picked CCR for "Southern Rock". Where, may I ask, are The Outlaws??? "Green Grass and High Tides" is a classic.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 03:55 AM) well thats a little weird Agreed 100%.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) Wow, a lot of you really dislike the Red Hot Chili Peppers? I'm a huge fan. Always have been. Always hated them. I love Flea in Suburbia, but that was about it.

Saw III - Eeeewwwwww...pigs. I've never seen a film embrace being a sequel so much, close a trilogy so forcefully, and yet somehow leave it open for somebody else to walk in to take over and start a new series with it. I've also never seen a film say "hey, if you are here, you've seen the others so the heck with giving away past secrets, and we know you can handle it, so here is some real icky stuff" before. I thought the first was the best, and then 2 and 3 kind of tied. This one tried to do way too much with the twists at the end. Heck, what were there, 4 of them? Plus, the twist with Amanda doesn't really work. But still icky.

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 07:20 PM) i have one just to check out rock bands....their myspace pages are updated a lot more than their actual sites I've interviewed numerous bands, and spoken with a ton more that all say it is pointless to even have an "official" site nowdays. You have to pay for a normal site, but the only one anybody ever checks out are the My Space sites. Heck, some bands have a normal site with nothing but the My Space link on it.

The popularity of the Chili Peppers has always confused the hell out of me. Plus, what the hell is Flea always jumping around about? Doesn't he hear that they play quite possibly the most mellow music this side of Burt Bacharac? I swear, it just looks f'ed up.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) No kidding. THAT's my childhood in a nutshell. That must have been cramped living quarters. No wonder all you could do was watch TV.

At the end of his concerts does he strike a "Hip Hop pose" and yell out, "You've been stung!"???

The problem with the Grammys is that it is literally impossible for them to truely judge all the music released in the year and truely find the best, so instead they go buy Billboard charts and decide from there. It would be the same way if the only movies nominated for Oscars were the top box office draws, and then they chose from those. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sHXCs84iJc Police last night. Pretty good, except for Sting not hitting the notes on the chorus and that goofy re-working in the middle of the song. My wife and I call that "Stinging" a song. When someone changes their own song until it's not even the same song any more. that's Stinging it. Eh, isn't that just more of a "Police thing". I could swear they always did that.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) Are message boards the same as Myspace? From what i've seen, not really. Im on here to discuss sports and my favorite team and its day to day activities. Nor do I use it to meet up with or try to meet up with other people. Myspace seems to be a place for stalking of underage girls, and a contest to see who has the most lame friend requests. Im not sure much indepth discussion of the whitesox takes place on myspace. I've been able to be in contact with a lot of bands I could never have been in contact with otherwise, and had many discussions about music there. I'm able to connect with the people that share my love of a certain style of music. It's much like the PM system in most boards, if you use it that way. Oh, and before My Space, there was no shortage of stories of kids being preyed upon through message boards or AOL messenger, or Yahoo Messenger or chat rooms.
-
I use mine for marketing my 'zine. There is no way I would have been able to do what I have without My Space. Funny that somebody with over 10,000 posts on a message board would make fun of people who use My Space and an inability to communicate with people in the real world.

I'm right there with you on "Roxanne", but it was cool seeing them again. They have all aged well, and they sounded real good, and the arrangement on it had to please the toughest Police fan, as Copeland even got the chance to show off some. I like, but don't love them by any means, but even I had a huge smile on my face watching them again.
-
From what little I have seen on the Rewinds, I think it's fairly obvious why he never came back. Seacrest does both of their jobs, and his a lot more likable. Dunkleman always look uncomfortable, whereas Seacrest has a very natural style, and a great raport with the contestants. He really comes across as to actually being close to them, though there is probably no chance he speaks to them off camera.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 01:22 AM) I didn't tape the show, because I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate awards shows. I'm counting on YouTube to show me the only thing I cared to see, The Police. Haven't seen the clip on YouTube yet, though. Well, considering the very first thing on the awards show (before credits or anything) was the sound of Sting saying "Hello, we're The Police, and we're back!", you really didn't have to like award shows to see it. I saw The Police, and pretty much nothing else.
-
Well, that was it for me and the Grammy's. The first 4 minutes or so was the coolest that show has ever been. That was also the most I have watched of it in 20 years. Now what else is on TV?
-
This is how I've always seen it: We find alien life and it looks like us = More proof of a God. We find alien life and it looks nothing like us = Goodbye religion.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Here's some classic Aerosmith, long before they became a pop-ballad joke. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMrXO5pK5g4 They were soooo good once upon a time!!! Those boys should never have quit drugs. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) I love Draw the Line. Kings and Queens! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9zAK8Cmr84 Cool tune, but that video is from the "suckfest" years.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 02:01 AM) KG only writes, never actually reads, this thread. Not true, not true. It's just sometimes this thread will move at lightening speed, and if you miss the board for a day or two, things will get buried.
