  1. That’s unbelievable. No way I would have thought he could be back before June. The man is a hoss
  2. The only guy that makes sense to sit against a lefty is Benintendi and we all know that isn’t going to happen
  3. If Grandal is 100% at the plate I think I’d go: TA Robert Eloy Grandal Vaughn Benintendi Moncada Colas Andrus
  4. Colas has hit lefties appreciably better than righties. Not sure why he would sit for them. I like your lineup but I think I would switch Eloy and Vaughn. Might as well get the big dogs in the front three
  5. MLB’s DV policy history shows a very low threshold for questionable evidence in DV cases that were dismissed by police in doling out a high rate of suspensions, so it is fair to conclude that there is no reasonable reason to believe Clevinger did anything wrong.
  6. Alberto plays good defense though
  7. They reassigned him to minor league camp early on.
  8. That’s what Romy and Hanser are for. The only time Sheets needs to field is when he is subbing for Vaughn
  9. If Robert goes down they’ll call up Haseley and mix and match with him, Romy and Eloy, and Eloy will still only start 1-2 games a week in the field is my prediction. Sheets will get those 1-2 games at dh, 1-2 games at first and an occasional start in the OF
  10. My point is that they wouldn’t. Haseley, Hamilton or Reyes followed by Cespedes and Mieses over the next year or so would be options that would be called up in event of injury to an OFer.
  11. Why would they be trotting them out every day? Robert would be playing most days. If Robert is out, then call up Haseley
  12. I hate to say it, since I should know better, but I’m starting to get a good feeling about the Sox again.
  13. I think Andrus is going to be huge for Anderson. Show him the little things to tighten up his fundamentals and be a great double play partner. I’m predicting a higher level defensive performance from TA
  14. I didn’t think the sox would eat Leury’s contract, honestly. Hopefully this is a sign they’re moving in the right direction. Is there any way they keep him in Charlotte. I wouldn’t hate him as a AAAA guy
  15. Moncada would have to show he can hit consistently again before I moved him back into front of the lineup, if it were up to me. At any rate, my point was I don’t mind it if there is a significant power bat in front and behind Benintendi in the lineup. Both Moncada and Benintendi at the front of the lineup, to me, is not ideal because I’d prefer more power in there. At this point, I can’t consider Moncada a top four or five hitter in the Sox lineup so he shouldn’t be in the top four spots of the lineup.
  16. What is the league ops for first baseman anyway. Just looking team by team, it looks like there were tons of teams getting worse numbers from their primary first basemen than what Sheets put up last year.
  17. Yeah but you’re talking about a bench player. The question is how he would produce versus other options the Sox have for the bench. It’s a pretty safe bet there is no other option that can provide similar production against *RHP* available among the utility player candidates. *edit
  18. I don’t mind Benintendi hitting third if you have Robert at 2 and Eloy at 4. He’d have good speed in front of him to knock around and he can set the table for Eloy. You’d still have good power at the top of the lineup with TA and Robert
  19. League OPS was down to .701 last year, so .736 is still above average
  20. Don’t all the candidates to backup second also play short though? This really doesn’t answer anything in my mind
  21. They’d give you the strongest lineup with starters out of the lineup, though. Imagine Robert, Anderson and Moncada out of the lineup then you’d have a lineup like: Andrus SS Benintendi LF Eloy RF Grandal Vaughn 1b Sheets DH Burger 3b Colas CF Alberto 2b That’s a better lineup than what you are going to get with any other combo, and that’s with the three key skill positions out, besides catcher
  22. I don’t think anyone is advocating for Burger to be the starting first baseman though. Also, the board is comprised of various individuals that’s why there is disagreement amongst various posts. I for one thought Abreu went from decent to pretty good to good on defense over the course of his time here
