4/15 GT - Orioles at Sox (1:10pm)
He has a 400 OBP. If that’s him in a downward spiral then we’re doing pretty good

You can’t??

Fire Rick Hahn
“They seem to seek you guys out in the comments sections. Imagine that.” [Hahn] It should be noted that this is Hahn’s 11th season as Sox general manager. The team has had a winning season twice, including the 60-game shortened season in 2020. Imagine that.” ?

Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
I didn’t realize Sox claimed him when I responded here. Going to have to bump that to 4.5

Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
Yeah this seems like having the possibility to be a way better than average waiver claim

Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
Made more sense back then when DL was 15 days

Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
If i were a bookie, I’d go with 2.5

Merkin with pretty honest assessment
https://www.mlb.com/news/ian-anderson-braves-tommy-john-surgery As you can see here with recently announced Ian Anderson surgery, 12-18 months is the new recovery timeframe.
-
Merkin with pretty honest assessment
There have been developments in TJS in recent years that reduce recovery time. By adding a graft to the tendon in order to provide blood flow to it, which did not previously occur. Without blood flow it would take up to six months to heal, the next year would be rehab. With blood flow it can now heal within weeks, so recovery time has gone from 18-24 months to 12 to 18, with same 12 month rehab period.

Merkin with pretty honest assessment
That was clev’s second TJS, in which the success rates are vastly lower. I would be willing to bet he has less than 250 major league innings left. After first TJS, the majority come back as strong or stronger, since they are no longer pitching with a fucked UCL

Merkin with pretty honest assessment
In Tommy John’s return from his own surgery he made 31 starts with a 3.09 ERA, and that was some 45 years ago
-
Merkin with pretty honest assessment
Well that was just an example off the top of the head. If you look you will find lots of pitchers have success in their first season back from TJS
-
Merkin with pretty honest assessment
When Lynn came back from TJS he made 33 starts with a 3.43 ERA

4/12 - Sox @ Twins: Let’s Win the Series
Well, I was guessing it was not Machado or his agent or wife but rather someone affiliated with the Sox
-
This Day In Sox History...April 13
They had 162 games to compete for a world series title
-
4/12 - Sox @ Twins: Let’s Win the Series
Unless your source was Machado, his agent or someone similar, that claim would be entirely speculative. No way someone else could know his underlying intentions.
-
This team is going to lose 90 plus games...
Don’t the Rays have very high TV ratings though? Their attendance doesn’t matter much if they are able to maintain a competitive organization, which they clearly have done.

2023 Spring Training Attendance: Sox 22nd, Dodgers 3rd
Moving to the west valley was a horrible move for the Sox. Way more Sox fans in the east valley and who the hell wants to visit glendale. Takes like an hour to get to the game. I could get to Tucson almost that fast and then at least you got to visit Tucson. When they played in Tucson they actually drew a crowd and they had a street named after Emil Bossard. If they were going to leave there they should have moved to Mesa or something. They probably don’t care much about cactus league attendance but it’s another little thing they did to alienate fans imo

“It’s so frustrating…” Sox, Anderson work to overcome rash of injuries, and Jimenez back for O’s?
I don’t think the runner would have anticipated the throw going to Anderson there

4/12 - Sox @ Twins: Let’s Win the Series
Dodgers are paying 15 million a year to Chris Taylor, a 32 year old with 15.3 career WAR coming off a 0.5 WAR season. The Sox are paying a 28 year old with 15.3 career WAR 15 million coming off a 3.4 season. Which team has better allocated that 15 per?
-
4/12 - Sox @ Twins: Let’s Win the Series
Sorry but there’s no way 15 per year in the modern market is a bad deal. Sure it would be ideal if a team never had to sign free agents, but that isn’t very realistic is it.

Jose Abreu in Houston thread
Abreu always had stretches where he looked very bad at the plate.

4/12 - Sox @ Twins: Let’s Win the Series
You do realize MLB suppresses the pay of players in the first six years of their career, no? It’s not like this is some new phenomenon. The fact that they will gladly pay comparatively outlandish sums when a player is freed from this control shows that those players are underpaid, not the other way around.

Fire Rick Hahn
It does when the owner is committed to not selling while he is alive. It’s not speculation at all. It is a plain fact nothing that will change until it happens

This team is going to lose 90 plus games...
As bad as things went last year, they still got 132 starts from the starting five. If that didn’t happen, could have easily lost 90+. The idea that everything that could go wrong did go wrong is false
