  1. key word is 'prospective' right? the actual key here is why are you bumping this thread lol re: Adams. Crochet "wasn't ready" either. I'm just throwing a name out there. I'm also agreeing with you that Shane is probably the guy.
  2. I don't wanna s%*# talk Shane, but he was worse than Davis Martin in that series. He got the W because Flaherty is done-zo and wins are a good thing when the offense scores 7 runs, not when your starting pitcher produces a 7.20 ERA. 7.20 is not a good ERA. The crux of this post is...why now? It's about to be his turn in the rotation again, this post would've made more sense two weeks ago. Bumping this thread against the Devil Rays when YoeYoe Gomez is starting is...a curious choice. Shane might be the OD starter but there are many prospectively 'better' SPs in the organization that could start next year. I'm keeping my 0 dollar bet on Mason Adams.
  3. This is perhaps my preferred choice, but I think the site has such a great sports history that it would be a shame for it to disappear entirely. Especially in the context of all the other attractions around there. I have mixed feelings. I don't want the Sox to move and I think there could be some really neat design ideas that incorporate Northerly Island as well, and preserve or even enhance the landscape, but I don't think it's a large enough area to be a 'conservation area' of sorts. I think the former US Steel site further south might be a preferable site... or even the 78. The 78 could be a wonderful oasis and testament to remediating industrial sites into something ecologically healthy that we human beings can enjoy too. Dan Ryan Woods is a decent example. If you walk by the 78 as it is, it's actually a pretty interesting ecosystem. Overgrown with a lot of nice plants. Lots of good bird and bug activity in the midst of all the concrete. Leaving it alone isn't the worst idea, but these things could be developed into something that is ecologically beneficial and also enjoyable to the general public. Perhaps educational or provide some fun opportunities to kids. I'll try to take some pictures soon.
  4. If/when the Bears move, I actually really like Soldier Field as a potential SoxPark. Keep some of the key, historic architectural elements, consider the lake and the views of the skyline and it's an incredibly imageable ballpark, could be genuinely one of the best in the MLB. Those features are more important to a baseball park than a football stadium IMO. Have a sort of McCovey Covey but also excellent views of the best skyline in America. The 78 and the current 35th/Shields site are pretty much just plots of land. Whereas the 'Museum Campus' lakefront has so much going for it for both locals and out of towners. Check out some of the best museums in the world then go to a ballgame 81 times a year. Transportation remains an issue. It's not easy to get to.
  5. I don't think you can say that. Crochet and Burke were both "surprises". He's probably the favorite but there should be plenty of competition in Spring Training. Although it strikes me as odd to bump this thread at this specific time lol, his last outing was pretty bad and it was 4 days ago. My pick for opening day starter is Mason Adams...cuz why not. Maybe. I'll look cool if it's correct.
  6. I was thinking about adding them to my list. I don't really know anything about Saucke but McLain is kind of a stud although not super impressive at Kannapolis.
  7. can't win em all. this seems like a 'good team' kind of loss if that makes sense.
  8. I haven't been paying super close attention to this game, but this guy has wanted to call a strike several times and has just deferred to the first/third base ump. No confidence in himself.
  9. also, am I the only one imagining George every time Jason Alexander comes in to pitch? Ellard and Eisert might have a future here. I might call up Schweitzer and option one of those guys or simply DFA Alexander.
  10. I think the Sox have been shafted more than any other team. Venable needs to be more vocal, glad he finally did something. https://umpscorecards.com/data/teams It's true according to this."framing" is probably a factor.
  11. He was good at A+ and the season is over, so why not. I wouldn't mind if Bonemer got some ABs at Birmingham. I guess they called up Sprinkle.
  12. How does he have 8 Ks already???? Shouldn't the Sox be familiar with him? is this a career high? It ties a season high. Benny has made some nice plays tonight
