  1. If Gonzalez ever produces more than 2 OWAR in a season, I'll eat my words, but a first round pick and the extra draft money is so so much more valuable.
  2. I think the Sox would be on the hook for his giant contract right? All for it if he gets released.
  3. And his real woba is sandwiched between Andrew Benintendi and Jarred Kelenic. Baseball Savant isn't registering that xwoba as statistically significant. Neither is his .200 batting average, right, but more in line with the player that he actually is. An MLB player to be sure, just not a particularly good one.
  4. I went away for like 20 minutes, what the f*** happened?
  5. I think you're right, that sounds marginally more uncomfortable than wearing a cup.
  6. Agreed, but Acuña has been hitting the ball the past month, might be some competition.
  7. Was thinking recently about that guy with the ruptured testicle and all the people saying, "why wasn't he wearing a cup???". I wouldn't wear a cup if I was a professional baseball player. Imagine wearing that thing 162 days a year for like 7 or 8 hours a day. That's 1296 hours or 54 full days. No thanks. What are the chances of rupturing your balls? Probably pretty low, it's a risk I'm willing to take.
  8. Prior to that at-bat, Peters has an OPS of .395 since the break. I think we all realized he wasn't gonna hit .800+ OPS the entire season.
  9. lol I watched that for some reason. David Ross took an at bat and the announcer is talking about "wow this guy is a Chicago legend, everyone loves him". Guy played like a year for the Cubs, coached the team for like a year before being summarily fired. I'm surprised he'd even wanna be there.
  10. Can't read the article, but one wonders what criteria he is using for 'prospect' vs 'farmhand' and how 'prospects' generally turn out. Maybe he made that comparison.
  11. It already hit Chicago and is moving south. 3 inches of rain in like two hours.
  12. They paid Josh Rojas for a reason too and we have hindsight to see that they were both wastes of money. Not the end of the world but my point is to say that 2026 Hays and 2025 Slater are not the same value and I'd be very surprised if a team parted with someone who's top 20 in their system. That would kinda be like trading Christian Oppor for, I dunno, Jarred Kelenic.
  13. Slater was actually hitting the ball. Also playing. Hays is OPSing .641 VsL, .548 VsR and hasn't played in the MLB since May 1. Sox are also paying him $6mil some reason. He's getting cut.
  14. He's been lights since the end of May and has gone 7 innings in 3 of 10 starts since May 31st. I like this deal. Cheapo team wants cash in exchange for a guy they don't have room for in their stacked rotation.
  15. these noobs couldn't even beat gotham chess
  16. You said it was pointless to discuss options.
  17. I dunno why it's more of a pointless waste of time than any post on a baseball forum. But I won't feel slapped in the face if they don't trade Carlson for 30 innings of a 5th starter.
  18. Like who and what does it cost? Because the board is tripping over itself to give up top players in the system for mediocre pitching.
  19. It's a bigger slap in the face to be perpetually middling because you keep sacrificing future success for the present day. Sox and Bulls fans should know this feeling well that the path to success isn't found by going all in too early. That's the path to being the Anaheim Angels.
  20. Peña is maybe the most underrated star in the league. Made a big name for himself in the World Series as a rookie, since then he's kinda flown under the radar but is good for 5.5 WAR per 162 games. Hopefully Roch can be that good, they seem comparable.
  21. count me in on hunter goodman
