I think KW will save every penny (and deal Koch) and try to use the money on one more starting pitcher (Colon, Ponson) and a reliever to replace Koch (Kerry Ligtenberg, Sullivan?). Pitching Pitching Pitching! That's the way to go.

The Sox's will probably try to deal Koch and after he's delt the budget should be fine.

Yeah, but there's a big difference between the two. They both have huge power potential, but unlike Borchard, Crust takes A LOT of pitches. He might only hit .250-.260, but he'll take a 100+ walks every year and he should be good for 30-35 HR's.

I'd take a Jay Gibbons, Kurt Ainsworth and Jack Cust for Maggs deal (That's only if Colon, or another top-notch pitcher isn't signed). NO Freddy Garcia!

Escobar's numbers as a starter: 12-8 (26 starts), 3.92 ERA. Not bad at all, but i think i read somewhere he's looking for something in the 15M/3 Year range. If the Sox's can get rid of Jose it could make financial sense.

I'm sure they'd be able find a way to unload Darren Dreifort (maybe pay half his salary, $6.5M out of $13M) and other big deals like Paul Shuey, Paul Quantrill, Hideo Nomo and Todd Hundley come off the books before the start of the 2005 season. So, money shoudn't be a issue if they want both Gagne and Nomar.

No way is Gagne going anywhere, that would be like Boston trading Pedro. I just can't see LA allowing another team to have him.

He's a bullpen guy and with Gange they might be willing to let a possible closer prospect go.

If KW can get Perez and Steve Colyer for PK and Borchard, i'd do it in a heartbeat.

But, 8.5 million to find a 1B > Konerko, that and LA could find a better deal for Perez. Perez is to LA what Buehrle is to us, would you trade Buehrle for Konerko? I think not.

Yeah, that's why their called rumors. The Dodgers aren't stupid enough to take on Konerko's horrible contract. The only way a deal with the Dodgers goes down is if Lee is involved or a top level prospect like Rauch or Borchard are included with PK.

Konerko for Odalis Perez isn't gonna happen. Also, there's no way in hell the Sox's rid themselves of Koch without taking on another bad contract.

I'd kill to get Odalis Perez. If he get's his s*** straight; he can become one of the top starting pitchers around.
