  1. Bummer had one bad season out of 8 years in the majors. Yes, I do know. Soroka is a free agent. Lopez wasn’t worth the $4.3 million he was paid last year. Shuster and Shewmake both blow. You think Shuster had a good year. Look at his stats (hits, walks, and strikeouts). Dude isn’t good, he’s lucky. Hopefully Gowens turns into something but he’s a 25 year old reliever in AA.
  2. They were better after they left the Sox. What a surprise. Your last comment is ridiculous. The Braves were going to non-tender some of those scrubs but Getz did them a favor and took them back in the Bummer trade. Now, Getz is in the same position as the Braves last offseason, with a bunch of players no one wants.
  3. Because Bummer was and still is a better reliever than the majority of the Sox 2024 opening day bullpen. Opening Day Relief Pitchers (9): Michael Kopech, John Brebbia, Tim Hill, Deivi García, Dominic Leone, Jordan Leasure, Steven Wilson, Tanner Banks, Bryan Shaw
  4. Perhaps he should acquire more talent evaluators since he can’t do it worth a damn judging by his acquisitions thus far.
  5. If it was truly the right call, we would have gotten back a halfway decent player. Not what is currently a 26 year old pitching “prospect” with a 5+ minor league career ERA.
  6. 95% of the roster performed poorly because they sucked, including the majority of our wizard GM’s putrid acquisitions.
  7. JR not wanting to spend any money this offseason will be the reason.
  8. Not when this lineup will struggle to score 3 runs of it’s own. 🤣
  9. Schumaker ain’t no dummy. He probably never even considered this career killer gig.
  10. Comparing a crappy acquisition (Lopez) to a slightly crappier acquisition (Frazier) doesn’t make Lopez look any better. Regarding Soroka, considering he was a guy with a history of injuries, it should be no surprise that he… got injured.
  11. I was just pointing out that your “odds” statement was, well, odd. I never said Bummer’s high likelihood of rebounding based on the rest of his career dictated his entire trade value. But the “odds” were more likely that Bummer would perform better than a 6.79 ERA, as that was the obvious outlier in his career. He isn’t a 6 ERA guy. He’s a 3.5 to 3.75 ERA guy.
  12. Based on his career, the odds are that Bummer would have had a better ERA than 6 with the Sox last season. His ERA in 2023 was the worst in his career. Prior to 2023, Bummer never finished a season with worse than a 4.50 ERA and that was his rookie season.
  13. The Braves re-worked Bummer’s contract to retain him for two more years. Meanwhile, other than Gowens, you wouldn’t want back one of the four other players that the Sox received for Bummer.
  14. But does he know how to use the latest data modeling technology like our guys? Just you wait and see…
  15. More guys like Soroka and Flexen that had a good year or two before injuries.
  16. The Raiders have already fired Getsy. The Bears sure know how to pick coaches.
  17. I didn’t see a Ron post. It was Cali. I would have recognized some unnecessary Abreu trolling if it was a Ron post. 🤣

Rizzo is a former good 1B that is now past his prime. Vaughn is a never was.
  19. It will be interesting to see if Venable is the real deal or if Getz will sabotage his managerial career with poor roster decisions.
  20. $3 million is more in their wheelhouse for a veteran starter.
  21. Would make some sense as a veteran starter but I doubt the Sox want to pay him $5.5 million.
  22. Fenwick advances to face Downers Grove North and future Minnesota Gophers QB Owen Lansu. 12-7 final. Some awful ball management by BR’s QB CJ Gray basically gave the game to Fenwick. Crazy scrambling at the end of the first half to give up the ball and an easy Fenwick TD and some more scrambling out of his own end zone for a safety in the fourth quarter, rather than taking a sack and throwing the ball away. 9 points gifted to Fenwick. OL injuries ended up killing BR. While Fenwick does have a good D, BR couldn’t move the ball on the ground at all.
