Great article, which details every recent misstep by Jerry. Imagine buying a team for $19 million dollars that is now worth maybe $2.5 billion and choosing not to be competitive year after year. What an epic loser the guy is.

Signing guys in the offseason with a clean record versus signing additional free agents after the worst historic start in team history? Yeah, there’s no difference here. C’mon… At least when the Sox had a 0-0 record, it made some sense. But you already knew the answer to your question before you posted this drivel. If you want to argue signing guys to flip them at the deadline then Taylor is still more desirable because he can actually play defense. The fact that no team wanted Pham before the season started already shows you aren’t going to get much for him in a trade unless he tears the cover off the ball when they finally add him to the team.

Sure, but Fletcher looks like a fourth outfielder at best. I’ll take the boom or bust of a 21 year old Christian Mena over a 26 year old fourth outfielder in the long losing years of the sucky Sox. It’s still not as bad as dumping a 22 year old Jose Rodriguez for nothing.

Yeah, but it’s now looking like most of Getz’s acquisitions were so bad, they could barely last long enough on the roster to ensure another year of control for the young guys prior to their callup. That was part of Getz’s goal, but I’m sure he didn’t expect the vets he acquired would be this bad and quite literally DFA candidates after one month. That’s all on Getz, while the smart posters on this forum saw it from miles away, literally when these bums were signed.

Don’t feel bad being a glass half full. Someone has to be positive. I’ve always been a glass half empty guy, but I just wasn’t a fan of any of Getz’s acquisitions of vets that should’ve already retired by now.
