  1. Agreed. He could have just called his homers “Mune Shots”, rather than coming up with this lame nickname — “And that’s another Mune Shot for Murakami!” It would definitely be wittier than a played out Japanese reference. Obviously, it is a legitimate historical reference to Japan but it’s just too much of a stereotype these days. It would be like if we had a Chinese player named Kim and Schriffen called him “Kung Fu Kim”. It’s a bit in poor taste to overgeneralize one historical fact and apply it to anyone of that ethnicity, as if it’s all they are known for. It’s definitely a pretty cringeworthy nickname and I would hope Schriffen checked with Murakami through his translator to see if he was okay with it at the very least.
  2. I never knew this. Thanks for sharing, tray. Make no mistake, I can obviously see how this is offensive and wouldn’t fly today. But I’ll be honest, I am part Italian and I would laugh my ass off if I heard this these days. I am also picturing TLR running to home plate like this as Drysdale says it… My dad is the Italian side of my family and I am going to ask him about Drysdale saying this to see if he remembers. Either way, I know he’ll laugh about it as well.
  3. For Cash Considerations.
  4. That’s racist, Hawk… https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/white-sox-announcer-hawk-harrelson-continues-to-stereotype-asian-pitchers-225628385.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  5. This has to be some @sin city sox fan level trolling…
  6. Shades of Grifol. This sounds like the beginning of the end.
  7. This is a good point. Not every Rule 5 pick is going to be an immediate success like Smith and Vasil. They are usually unfinished talent not quite ready for the majors that a team tries to hide on their roster long enough to gain their control. This team is looking well on its way to 100+ losses again. You should be to hide him on your roster in yet another losing season, especially when his immediate replacement is Lucas Sims.
  8. Unless the forecast has rain on Friday night. I was wondering why they didn’t try to move the game to Friday night for a bigger crowd. I think MLB teams can actually do this.
  9. I think their rims may actually be too tight, because as Hawk would say, “you couldn’t pull a greased tee outta their behinds with a pair of pliers” the way they are playing.
  10. I think it was more simply hoping Acuna would be the guy, considering we were trading away Robert for a utility guy that has played CF and didn’t have any other CF replacement. Just like we were also hoping that his Venezuelan league HR power was legitimate. By the way, amazing use of “cock sure”. 👍🏻
  11. It might rain on Friday as well, no?
  12. It doesn’t matter. His conspiracy theory gives Getz far too much credit. He’s not that smart and he didn’t plan this out.
  13. You could probably pin this thread, but I have a feeling it won’t need to be and will get plenty of action.
  14. 4) Fire Getz. Not that it will happen. I know he’s still in rebuild mode but at some point a GM should be able to show that the team is improving. This team looks like it will easily lose 100+ games and even more than last season.
  15. Jerry and Getz should be embarrassed by this shitshow. I’m sure they aren’t because they don’t care about Sox fans, but these two clowns deserve another 100+ loss season.
  16. I’m thinking he didn’t have much trade value to begin with.
  17. Failed starter the Braves drafted. Now a bad reliever that can’t throw strikes.
  18. A bad journeyman reliever. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/simslu01.shtml
  19. Getz’s Rule 5 magic is officially gone.
  20. Definitely not as good as the series but worth watching.
  21. F.A.S.T. Fearless, Aggressive, Selfless, and Technically sound.
  22. Agreed, but neither guy saying anything is even worse.
  23. There’s nothing stopping either guy from warning the other guy. Someone has to do it.
