So if they have 5 outfielders now, Robert hasn’t been traded yet, and they also think Braden will be up soon, why would they grab another outfielder? I don’t see that happening unless Robert is traded during Spring Training. The numbers don’t make sense at this point.

He currently plays for the Downers Grove Panthers and already received an offer from Michigan last year. Coach Q lives in Hinsdale so it’s a short drive to recruit some DG Panthers. I only started following BR once my older son first started talking to Coach Q (right after he was initially hired) as an 8th grader playing for the Downers Grove Panthers in the Bill George Youth Football League (BGYFL) and then decided to go to BR. Quedenfeld would bring his two toddler kids to almost every DG Panthers game on the weekends to try to recruit the team’s players like Owen Lansu and others. Most of them ended up going to Downers Grove North, but he hooked my son. Since then, my younger son transferred from Downers Grove South to BR this year for his sophomore year and he is way happier there. Coach Q truly did recruit/build this team starting from when most of these kids were freshmen. It took him four years to build a champ. Pretty cool. In his post-game interview, he mentioned building this team from the start of his first year and also stressed that he couldn’t believe any parent would not want to send their kids to a Catholic school like BR. He was really selling it for the administration, almost as if he was told to mention it. 🤣 The cool thing is that I actually went to Fenwick so I got the best of both worlds this year. But I am obviously way prouder about the BR title for my son and his teammates.

Have the Sox signed any player near that dollar amount (~$30 million) in the last couple offseasons during Getz’s tenure? Especially when they have been trying to cut salary? I wouldn’t be surprised if Kay is their biggest total dollar signing this offseason.

Most of the BR security guards at the school are retired local cops so they have an inside hookup.

With Sosa and even Mead around, I highly doubt the Sox are truly that interested in O’Hearn. He will ultimately get overpaid from some team and I doubt it will be from our frugal Sox. And at 32 with such a down and more recently up career, I’m not even sure he’d be worth what he ultimately gets paid.

You may be on to something. Although some people in this Reddit thread seem to think he has sources. I guess he may be no different than some “White Sox insiders”.

He’ll turn 24 on March 12th before the season starts. Still not very old but he is looking like a broken prospect à la Vargas and Mead at this point, and I would avoid him like the plague. Also, to think the Sox could be the team to fix his swing would be foolhardy.

This is the second time this Acuna rumor has popped up. Can someone explain to me Getz’s obsession with this no bat scrub? He put up only a .751 OPS in the minors for cripes sake. The only thing he has going for him is youth. He turns 24 in March. There’s a reason he is in every Mets trade rumor and they are probably dying to trade him.
