  1. Someone posted he hit .333 as a senior playing high school in Indiana. Not sure if thats true but if it is, it seems insanely mediocre for a first round draft pick. Maybe picking him was the mistake . He hasn't been particularly good above A ball. Could be he just doesn't have that much talent
  2. It's OK I thought you knew what can't means
  3. I really dont get playing Amaya and his .080 slugging percentage over Workman. What they pick him up for, just to look at him?
  4. It doesn't have to make sense. Sox are rebuilding and need bats. Worrying about match ups is pointless at this point
  5. They can though. They could carry four OFers with Baldwin able to play there, or they could cut Amaya with Baldwin and workman covering SS or they could cut Dalbec who would be redundant anyway
  6. It's not even the biggest stretch of the last 12 hours
  7. That's manslaughter! JR's a menace! Killed by the Sox, what a sad state of affairs
  8. Madrigal's faith tore the club apart? That seems like kind of ludicrous assertion. He wasn't even on the team anymore when everything went to s%*#
  9. Wait a minute. You sure that wasn't against the Twins? This is game I was thinking of, Aug 31: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA201108310.shtml The Sox were down 7-3 going into bottom of the 8th, scored one in eighth and two in ninth, when Lillibridge was due up with Paulie on deck. Lillibridge had walked and homered and Ozzie sent in Dunn for him to whiff, killing the rally
  10. I was at that game as well with my dad and had the same impression. Lillibridge was on fire at the time. I must have ranted an hour straight from the moment Dunn stepped out of the dugout
  11. And '23 was his first full pro season.
  12. I'll take a Derrick Lee if you've got one, but I don't think the Sox are in position to be that picky
  13. I don't think Montgomery is that well rated defensively
  14. According to fangraphs it's 8.9. According to statcast 13.1, but that still results in 8th from the bottom in mlb. Which puts him in some very bad company. Considering he has expressed that he has zero interest in adjusting his approach, seems unlikely to improve much
  15. Can't be any worse than Vaughn on the bases
  16. He is?? News to me
  17. His line drive percentage is 8.9% which has to be close to the worst in the league
  18. Soxtalk. Where the mods ARE the trolls
  19. Dude's hitting .354/.432/.732. That's about as Ruthian as we're going to get out of a minor leaguer
  20. I think we all know there's a decent chance he fails. At worst though, he should still save us a few runs on defense compared to Vaughn, if reports are true
  21. Ain't no ham like Birmingham
  22. I really thought Vaughn's production '22-23 was just a launching point from a guy adjusting to mlb. Amazing how his and the team's performance since make those numbers look halfway decent. Don't think I've ever been more wrong about a hitter in my life. Expected he'd be a .300/25 HR along with strong obp guy with some peak .900+ OPS seasons
  23. I'm sure JR is smart enough to understand the concept of sunken cost fallacy. What are we at, like 130 million below peak payroll level? Surely he can't be worried about paying a guy 5/6 of league minimum. I'd think that would already be baked into the budget as no one could reasonably expect to go through the season without calling players up, particularly a team in the Sox' position
  24. I agree, the opener thing is a good idea
  25. You'd get more WAR out of the 4.5 million if he wasn't playing
