F-ing Awesome CD of the month
Oh great, another "EMO DOES NOT SUCK OMFG" thread. Do you honestly think that listening to 20 or 30 year olds cry like little girls about beeing a teenager is considered music? "Oh, look at me, I'm so depressed! I know what I'll do, I'll go off and write a poem! Then I'll either scream really loud or try sounding all soothing by showing an INTENSE amount of emotion on my face!" The music Emo bands play sucks, the clothing that sprung off of them suck (we call it fashion-core). I think I'd be doing the world a great favor by banning the sales of thesauruses to all Emo-ites, bands included. They aren't deep, they're just stuck in the "harshness" known as adolescence. Time to grow up, write one last poem, and whip yourself off a cliff.

Tony G.
We would get no compensation for Graffy. He is not even classified as a Type C player.

Gordon a Yankee
I read that from BA, but to my knowledge Gordon and Sheffield are "equal" because they are both Type A free agents. Unless the Elias Sports Bureau says Player X is better than Player Y (say Sheffield is the third best OFer, while Gordon is the 7th best MR) than wouldn't record determine who gets the pick? Or at least a hardcore duel of rock-paper-scissors?

Gordon a Yankee
Rex, Gordon is a type A free agent, and with the Yankee's draft pick well above 15, we'd get their first round pick as well as a first round supplemental. I know it depends on other clubs, but I'm assuming the crappier team would get the pick if a team signs two type A free agents. Scenario: Yanks get Gordon and Sheffield. Our draft ranking, which I believe is 16 or 18, is much lower than the Braves', which is in the 20s. Assuming the Yanks stop reeling in FAs, wouldn't the Sox receive the first rounder instead of the Braves?

Magglio trade
I believe Markakis can't be traded until a year after he was signed, so he'd be a PTBNL for a while.

Bruce Levine Talks
If the Sox get Jack Cust, which they won't, I think Billy Beane would crap his pants and call KW as fast as he could.

Phil Rogers talks Colon, Matsui, Konerko trade
The "money stat", when divided by the amount of money a player makes, is obviously biased. A guy who makes the league minimum and hits .250 with 10 HR is somehow better than a player who makes 15 million and hits 40 HRs a year. This stat may be good for small market teams such as Oakland or, sadly, us. For the rest of the league, the stat is completely worthless.

Phil Rogers talks Colon, Matsui, Konerko trade
For the love of God, KW better f***ing start dealing with Dan Evans. Evans gets taken to the cleaners more than "insert similie here". Evans is probably the worst GM in baseball.

Rose traded
f*** yes. T.J. Ford anyone?

Sheffield a Yankee
Exactly, mainly because that's the last day I believe that a team can offer arbitration. Or first, not sure which. So the Yankees hold onto their first round pick.

Sexson traded to Zona
CHICAGO - It appears the Arizona Diamondbacks will be getting the slugger they have coveted. According to ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago, the Diamondbacks have agreed to a five-player trade with the Milwaukee Brewers that will bring power-hitting first baseman Richie Sexson to Arizona. After clearing room on the payroll by shipping high-priced righthander Curt Schilling to Boston on Friday, Arizona would send second baseman Junior Spivey, first baseman Lyle Overbay, versatile infielder Craig Counsell and lefthander Chris Capuano to the Brewers. The trade is expected to be completed Monday after the players complete physicals, the radio station reported Saturday. Lacking punch in the middle of their lineup beyond Luis Gonzalez, the Diamondbacks gladly would welcome Sexson, who matched a career high with 45 home runs last season, two behind National League leader Jim Thome. The 6-8 slugger played every game for the Brewers in 2003, hitting .272 and driving in 124 runs, one shy of his career best. Drafted by Cleveland in 1993, the 28-year-old Sexson owns a .273 career average with 191 homers and 593 RBIs in 813 games. The Brewers, who were ordered by the team's board of directors to trim the payroll this offseason, would have a new look on the infield as a result of the trade. Spivey, 28, was one of several Diamondbacks to miss time due to injury last season. Sidelined for 31 games with a sprained ankle, he batted .255 with 13 homers and 50 RBIs in 106 games. The 2003 campaign was a disappointment compared to Spivey's breakout season the year before, when he hit .301 with 15 homers and 78 RBIs and made the National League All-Star team. Milwaukee hopes the 33-year-old Counsell brings his World Series magic to Miller Park. After scoring the series-winning run for Florida in 1997, Counsell was hit by a pitch to load the bases in the ninth inning of Game Seven in 2001, setting up Gonzalez's championship-winning single. Counsell, who has played all four infield positions during his career, missed 53 games in 2003 after undergoing right thumb surgery. He batted .234 with three homers and 21 RBIs in 89 games. In 658 contests with Colorado, Florida, Los Angeles and Arizona, Counsell has a .266 career average with 16 homers and 188 RBIs. Given a chance to wrestle the first base job away from Mark Grace, Overbay was unable to produce and was sent to Class AAA Tucson in July. The 26-year-old was recalled in September and finished the season with a .276 average, four homers and 28 RBIs in 86 games. Capuano, 25, made his major league debut in 2003, going 2-4 with a 4.64 ERA in nine games, including five starts. The lefthander, who was an eighth-round selection in the 1999 draft, rebounded from "Tommy John" surgery, which he underwent in May 2002.

Cubs Trade For D. Lee
Sosa Alou Lee Ramirez People call it the windy season for a reason, strikeouts ahoy! Good deal for both sides, though. Cubs still need people to get on base, because after a torn ACL, Patterson won't be the same (and only gets on-base to a .330 clip).

Sox interested in Tejada
There's a chance, a very slim one at that, but there is a chance. I can picture jason flying out to Chicago right now to hook me up.

The Sox getting Tejada is to me getting a girlfriend by the end of my Senior year in High School. You can always hold out hope.

Sox screw up one car funeral...again
It wasn't all bad. I drove an hour from here in Valpo to Chicago, but I spent the rest of the day in Chicago and all was well.

Schilling Heading to Boston
The only prospect name that I've heard is Kelly Shoppac, who is one of the better catching prospects in the minors. If I'm Theo, I'd ship out Youkilis because his stock is way overinflated.

Sox screw up one car funeral...again
I was there, and I got nothing. It was such bulls*** that the White Sox did not even tell the fans who are non-season ticket holders that there would be some fancy presale. I was ted two damn hours to hear some stupid b**** from PR say "we're sorry" etc etc. Pathetic.
