  1. Expect Colon to be a part of the BoSox soon. I don't know if I'd want El Duque. Marte is close to the same thing, and to my knowledge, he isn't 40.
  2. I would tend to agree with you pre-strike, and during the Albert Belle era. He "seemed" like he was going to live up to the "I'd trade my NBA rings...", but after the strike, he came up with the attendance excuse. Someone kidnap JR, and bring in Mark Cuban. The mere thought of him running onto the field during a brawl would make me go to every home game.
  3. its an old article that resurface. i was catching up on my old reading. sorry. No problemo, I didn't even know that Kisechnick (ffs get an easier name to type!!) was even signed by the Brewers. I doubt either Dellaero or Kiechfhagfjnick will ever make it back to the bigs.
  4. Frank is seeing his old hitting coach, Walt Hriniak, as of now, which is a good thing. Too bad he's simply going to walk after torching the league next year. High five upper management, high five!
  5. when someone is in that position, you should know what you are doing. i am for the affirmative action in promoting him. but if he was qualified. you had some other good people out there. i am not talking about evans, even tho he might have been qualified than kw. kw admitted that he went against peoples opinion in trading for clayton, b/c he still thought he could trade him later. Hate to break it to you, but the only two choices we had for GM were KW or Dan Evans. Pick your poison.
  6. Oh give me a break. Are you trying to say Duane Shaffer and his crack team of scouts built the farm system?
  7. I'm trying to get the point across that the Yankess ruin competitve balance. Did they really need Contreras, or Matsui? No, but did the Red Sox need them? Of course they did. The Yankess simply buy everything to ensure their own dyansty. And you think that this is all hunky-dory and good for baseball? You deserve the name calling, because you just don't get it. I try and lay out the scenario and you just shrug it off and say how Steinbrenner is caring about winning blah blah. You just don't get it.
  8. Lofton, NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! One good month, that's it. I'd rather have Palmeiro.

Equilibrium. Enough said. Makes The Matrix look like complete s***.
  10. didn't everybody cheer and wanted there team to beat the yanks? yes My God, you're dumb. You miss the point completely, yet again.
  11. It includes the 40 man as well.
  12. So, you're out of the playoffs all-together, and it's doubtful your owner will fork over 6 million a year for him. Do you: 1)Trade him for anyone you can get 2)Let him walk, and might end up with no draft picks because of it.
  13. Does it ruin Baseball? Yes.
  14. http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/1225/1482297.html With Clemens, it will be 150 million. Now, since the Yanks can't get under it now, they'll have to pay roughly a 55 million dollar "fine" for being over. If a 215 million dollar payroll doesn't buy you a WS, I don't know what will.
  15. Billy had all the leverage in the world. No other team wanted Durham, so KW was stuck with what Beane offered him. He couldn't really make a counter offer.
  16. Scott Kazmir is far far superior to Royce Ring.
  17. Merry X-Mas everyone! Everyone raise a glass tomorrow night, and hope Bud Selig, and the Yankess magically disappear. Oh yeah, the Cubs, too.
  18. And to think, if Kazmir dropped two more spots, we could have had him. And his GF, too! Wewt!

Jay Mattox (OF) and Zeringue © both turned down money from the Sox. Mattox wasn't a big loss, but Zeringue was costly. We signed Charles Lisk instead, and I believe Zeringue transfered to Apopka CC (FL) along with a top first rounder from this year's draft.
  20. Dellaero is a righty.
  21. Because KW didn't know whether the new CBA would retain the old Draft Rules. Alot of people would have exploded if KW didn't trade Durham, and the new CBA didn't have draft pick compensation.
  22. 1) Rauch 2) Honel 3) Malowned 4) Diaz 5) Stewart
  23. Now, where's that "I'd hit it!" picture....
  24. Just used 40 million as an example Cerb. I know, but 32 million is a joke as well. Here's to hoping Contreras is another Yoshii. :metal
  25. Honel will start in High-A Winston Salem, and, if he does well, he'll move up to Birmingham late in the year.
