here is a question, does the sox do a trade for Walker, if the sox fo are convince he can manned 3b be better than the yrs and money for a fa replacement ???? edit for errors.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) If you can use him as a kicker for something you really like, you trade him, but if he has an option left, you don't give him away for junk. He does have talent. If he doesn't show up hitting this spring, and isn't changed by a trip to Charlotte, so what. and you make a point. however there is a little flaw in this post, no one mention giving Avi away let alone for junk. it was an exploratory idea of a trade for Avi,.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) Everyone is so set on having Thompson replace Avi full time next year, but what if Thompson struggles too? Then what? and the sox took a chance on giving Avi his position in the majors on a promise of potential.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) I 100% agree with sending him to AAA for awhile to get his confidence back. It might be a blow to his ego, but he needs to get back to the fundamentals that made him a top prospect in the first place. His potential is still there, he just has to work on a couple facets of his game to realize it. while you make a point on how you are coming to your opinion... i will say we have a right to differ. b/c i will say this in my defense, it is too late to develop this part of a natural skill that comes with any player, if they don't have it, that player has to find a way around that missing skill. also remember, not every person can learned to be a Mike Trout, they have to have a god given talent.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) Kris Bryant's July makes me really question Theo. ok i can understand, but all this for 1 player and his talent. for this discussion. lets further look into when Bryant was pick or more specifically what was the number was when he was picked.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) We have a young 2b with potential who plays better defense than Walker. No need to use assets there with so many weaknesses elsewhere. at this time, no one knows what is the price or has heard of anything resembling a rumored price.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 05:03 PM) Trading Avi now makes no sense. His value is lower now than it has ever been before... there are options here. trade him if the fo can get a rtn they can live with creating a space for TT to play, b/c he deserve the shot, he earned it. if not, platoon him or send him to the minors to continue to work on his game. for me, at least this they should have done to DV 2-3 yrs before they did it.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) What is different? He posted that Eaton doesn't count as a win in talent evaluation all because 1 really bad month supposedly discounts two really good seasons. Where's the logic in that? ok now i see the point. he was stating for having a bad start and then started about having confidence in the FO. ok.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) And because Eaton had a poor April that somehow discounts him too, even though his overall numbers for the year were pretty good. 2 totally different things.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) LOL, I thought of you right when I saw this "news." Sucks to say I told you so on Avi... but this path of a acknowledge failure is not over yet. it ends when Avi is off the team and what was the rtn of the prospect or player.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:20 PM) I believe this post implied it: I should have quoted it, my bad. i really think the cost of getting a FA 3b vs the idea of walker providing a 1 yr reprieve is the actual question. also take into account giving him a QO if it works. so lets say he accepts it, still your team will not be laden with a FA of todays value of a 5+ yrs.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) Good front offices don't fall in love with players to a fault. It'll ruin teams. but the owners have proven to not do a cost of return theory in keeping a player b/c of salary.

QUOTE (bruni @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Eaton - poor 2 month+ start (along with several others) helped doom this team in 2015. Abreu - they won a bidding war on a guy who looks more and more like Trumbo since 2nd half 2014 than any player that can carry a team to the WS going forward. Furthermore he looks increasingly fragile and is better served as our DH vs 1B. Rodon and Fullmer - you and I could pick top rated undergrad pitching prospects - - this is not evidence of superior or even above average talent evaluation, but merely the byproduct at being a really bad team several years in a row. Montas - potential yes, but let's not make this out as a huge win at this time - - look at his ERA from his cup of coffee in the bigs last season. Power pitching without control does little good. Anderson - we don't know what he can do at the MLB level (and likely wont until late 16 or 2017) but so many are drinking the kool aid here. How many wins is he going to earn this team in 2016? In the meantime our current brain trust (in the middle of their "3-year plan", remember) put bottom 5 production at C, 2B, SS, 3B and RF and bottom 10 production at DH and LF. How do players like Anderson and Fullmer even make an impact in this '3 year' window? How you can point this as proof of a front office we should have confidence in is beyond me. Other than identifying Q as a lottery ticket to target, I fail to see much that gives me confidence in the current and stale 'brain-trust'. nice post, if i can let me add Hawkins and Barum into the mix

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) Right because the Sox have never made a good trade or picked up guys undervalued by other clubs that turned out well for them. The Sox have done a very poor job of developing position players, but they've done OK in trades and international signings, this narrative that they're 100% incompetent when it comes to identifying talent is so lazy and tired. he never said 100%, he said part of the problem. nitpicking small examples for both sides can make this an endless discussion. but i tend to favor the thought of they had more failure than success, esp in kw regime. the book is still unfinished on Hahn.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) Dang, this is "MLBTR Legit" http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/whit...ail-garcia.html Moving Avisail Garcia and allowing Thompson to replace him would be a remarkable piece of evidence that the front office is being intellectually honest with itself. That's the s*** I want to see -- be ready to cut bait and change course when the evidence suggests you should. your post the reason of moving A Garcia is and are valid point. he will not be able to improve his approach in hitting to help the sox. maybe another team will have the patience to see this done. but cutting bait and running, i honestly don't see that, with your comment. taking offers and doing it is one thing. and having an A. LaRoche is a perfect example that they are not doing it.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) He has 802 games at 2B and 15 at 3B. I wouldn't do it. It's not like his 2B defense is anything special, and generally, guys who make a position switch to be a third baseman don't do too well defensively. in your post, i can agree with some of your point. however at this time of the yr, the nature of the would be or so call baseball experts have a tendency to bring other idea into an equation. in other words, i was reading something about the pirates and their off season plans, whether it was mlb trade rumors or something. in that article they mention that his versatility can move him to 1b / 2b / and 3b .... b/c of the value of his bat. it also stated that he may need to move from 2b b/c of age and defense in the coming yrs. so that was why i mention he can be a nice substitute if the sox were to trade with pitt. it also brought up Cervelli and Marte for trade piece if pitt were to make a bigger deal.... getting prospect now instead of getting comp picks. that is me just thinking outside the box.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) I don't understand the obsession with Schwarber. Right, I get it, he has a thunderous bat. But he is also a DH. And he is going to be figured out by pitchers. Look at his numbers as the season went on, month by month.... June - .364 AVG, .982 OPS July - .302 AVG, .900 OPS August - .221 AVG, .861 OPS Sept/Oct - .208 AVG, .741 OPS He started to get HR happy and his average plummeted. He is a right-handed Mark Trumbo. excellent comparison . -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) Neil Walker would be completely fine with me, although only having 1 more year of control isn't ideal, unless we "give it a go" again in 2016 and Hahn adds a few strong pieces this offseason to contend. I would see if he could handle 3B so we can give Micah a fair shake at 2B. Or bounce Walker between 2B and 3B and having Micah and Saladino play on the opposite side of Walker. Of course what is the price? Article says Pirates would want young pitching. For a 1 year rental, I would throw then Montas. Or instead, Erik Johnson plus a lower level guy. Walker will apparently cost about $10M. i was thinking the other day of the pirates and again my crazy idea.... beside that, i guess pitt will try not to compete in the NL Central. but if walker was in a pkg with others players from pitt. walker will be a nice 3b if needed. now pitt is saying the positive stuff about Pedro Alvarez ...

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 06:02 AM) Didn't Samardzija speak out against the Cubs at some point while he wasn't on their team? yeah last yr when he was on the sox. but i guess this is a great example of going where the money is most.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 03:32 AM) Dodgers wouldn't be a bad option for Q if they lose Greinkie somehow. Austin Barnes, Alex Guerrero and Jose Peraza would be nice to add to our offense/defense. We could also add a very good pitching prospect to replace Q in the future from their system. Urias would be the obvious 1 to shoot for but Jose De Leon and Grant Holmes also have a very bright future. well i was looking at their system earlier and i was some what intrigue. the take i got on Barnes and i have been fixated on him for a while, is the so call experts are questioning whether he would stay as a catcher in the bigs. Guerrero, he is a butcher with the glove and he doesn't hit enuf to be dh. also, the off season he is traded, he can opt out of his contract. beside that, 10 mil contract.... Peraza. is 21 his clock is starting i think, too bad, i would have like him 1 more yr in the minors to keep learning the outfield. he came up as a SS then was moved to 2b b/c of ss-seager for all this time. now moved to the cf. overall they have a systems of nice pitching prospects.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:03 AM) Take a 3rd or better before everyone finds out Daley is garbage. screw the pitchers wingers in the deal just get 2-2rnd picks. with their record, those picks are way better. oops edit.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 07:48 PM) Senators are really interested in Daley. Bowman's asking price is a 2nd round pick and Matt Puempel or Shane Prince. i saw that... but the asking price was too crazy so i didn't trust the source. there is talk as well and 2 other teams beside the senators. i still find it hard on the senators..... they have a nice stable of young dmans. oh well.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) The NHL All-Star Game Is Moving To 3-On-3 that would be great.... i have stop watching all star games for all sports. but the 3 on 3 i might want to watch that. i still still think keep the all star selection the same and then have a lottery pick of sort to split it up fairly. then a round robin kind of game.

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 02:28 AM) If you're trading Jose Quintana to the Rangers and not getting Joey Gallo back in return, pass. i am not sold on Gallo.... i think he is a better power hitter and a little better than Davidson but that hitting avg.... forget it.
