QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) I think he proved he really isnt a major league player, which is why he spent the last year both 1: unemployed, and 2: in AAA His success in AAA this year isnt an indicator of major league success. It is a red herring ok, you got me there. i misspoke in my intentions ..... nice catch. and you got a good point.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 10:27 PM) Is it the question? Seems to me as it is the assumption in this thread rather than the question. I don't really think it is a safe bet that either of those players are going to be on the sox 25 man come spring If Viciedo really was in the running for DH next season, I am fairly sure he would be getting major league ABs right now you make a very convincing counter. however i would like to point out, the roster expansion and bringing up players to the majors is for the FO to get them major league look see. to see and to gage how how a prospect is doing and as a little reward for doing a great job. that is what i always thought. now with DV, everyone knows he can play in the majors, that is no secret there, and if... he is in the future for the sox, why bother with bringing him up. let the team see the other prospects. anyway, most of the time the regulars are seeing plenty of starting time.

Sox vs Tigers Game 1, 12:08 first pitch
LDF replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) He's been worth 2.1 more wins than Avi, Im willing to see what he has in a full season in 2016 and you are riding a wishful thought and dream. -
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) Why wouldn't he say this? It's not like he's just going to admit that he's been trash for a good 3/4 of the season. This is bologna IMO. I need to see an improvement over several starts to believe this. 100 % correct for my opinions. trying hard, really hard to make up for his shiiting outings, esp since the ASG.

well i read that Marko Dano is having a real nice camp, esp on the top line. i guess if he still there at the end of the camp, i guess it is his to loose. i wonder if there is anymore news from camp on the players and lineup.

thanks for the update. any statement on why the change??

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) ok. im out tu..... and everyone has a valid opinion.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 04:34 PM) There is no point of view LDF. Look at their payroll, they cant hide that with all due respect and i mean no to insult you. but.... this part of this discussion will bring up a ugly rant from spring training..... i do not wish to bring that up. but i will still hilite the main points. it is all subjective on what fans and others see as profit and lost what should be the budget of a team, esp in looking at how this team was, is and where it wants to go or reach. and this is not subjective, what the owners want to spend every thing else is conjecture. again, i do want to upset anyone .... at least until spring training.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) Yea this is false. You can accuse the Sox of making bad personnel decisions, but they have spent plenty of money. and this can be false as well. it will depend on the POV one will look at it. last yr, it was 120 and no more for salary. what will anyone expect the salary to be this off season. no one will know until they, the FO tells the press.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) This is like arguing which kind of s*** that you want in your toilet. They're both s***; neither is turning into gold any time soon. and while i am not disputing what you are saying, we have owners who will want to spare the amount of toilet paper being use. giving out single sheets and reusing others to save money. this is what we the fans are being driven to. this kind of shiiteing logic.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) Laroche is also 36 years old. He could also be done. It's not ideal but there is a real possibility Viciedo could put up better numbers than Laroche next season. I hope we aren't in a position to even find that out, but I can see it being a possibility unfortunately. it is pretty much like giving Paulie the same contract and expect him to continue to put up prime age stats.

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Dayan wasn't a miserable MLB player, he just wasn't good enough to make plans to start him. The fact that he can't play good defense was both his downfall as a starter and the reason he's in the minor leagues. If he wasn't a bottom-tier OF and more of just a DH, he'd get a chance because even his offensive disappointments weren't horrible in terms of overall production. But you can't give too many chances to a guy who has to hit way above average just to cover his poor defense. I'd call him up if I needed him, but I wouldn't ever enter a season trying to a find a place for him. and esp if he is does several things the sox like or need. a dh / 1 b who can help in the shorts. the other is the salary.......
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) If Dayan Viciedo doesn't convince you that AAA numbers for veteran players are worthless, I don't know what will. Do people really think that he learned something during his 152 AAA PA's at Charlotte, that he didn't during his 1798 major league plate appearances? or more or less, an adjustment in his approach to his duty of a mlb player, esp in hitting and his routine.

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) I'll be honest, Robertson shouldn't be up there anymore either. Sale, Eaton, Abreu? with Sale and Abreu, i 100 % agree. now Eaton is make a great case for that spot. Eaton hitting stats since july has been great, except for aug. however lets think about this, in order to get where he is in his avg, while batting #1 and all the pressure that comes with that. he has been short of spectacular. let me emphasize, batting #1. others where constantly chg in the lineup to help them get started. he batted #1. another one for me would be Q.... look at his stats. 200 innings for the past how many yrs ... but knowing the sox they would put Rodon up there. -
while this is an unpopular opinion, but i too think that the sox will give him another chance and his success in the minors is one of the reasons. second i am wondering if he is or will be coming in with a whole different approach? the other reason is $$$$ . it not like he will cost a lot in order to get the money. just got to remember who his agent is.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 05:00 AM) He was good in the brawl but that series unfortunately again set the tone for the season. Sox got swept, Royals took off running and Sox sucked all season long. That's why I'm worried about next year's inevitable 4-9 or 5-8 start. It's gonna be ugly if we have the current staff in place and current core players. is some of this, i agree. this off season, many, imcluding me, never thought the sox would start the way they did. even thou i had a evil thought when the sox lost in spring training to the sCrubs. i am going to stand by my opinion / question, could things have been different with another manager? something was causing this start, beside bad luck. i also believe that maybe another manager would have been able to find ways to stop it before it escalated. the thing i remember most vividly is during a season, they the FO has to conduct special classes for RV on how to manage. the FO didn't help anyone by making that announcement. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 04:56 AM) Your logic can't be any more flawed. Winning organizations in all professional sports do not walk on glass. yeah right... name a org that org??? again, what ever we, the fans opinions are, the sox FO will do what they want. however, you do not put your valuable asset in a position to get injured. no one can predict the unlucky events of injuries. as example i am going to use Troy - ss injury. buy you try to limit the others with playing the odds. either way, i like to see your opinion on my question i am done on this subject.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) He has good power, but he strikes out a bunch for the college level, he has a nice avg, good hr stat and this hits to K's are about even... that last part is a power hitter stat. but he is a soph . i like to to see how he does next season.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) I'd like him to get a full season of 150 innings or so in Charlotte next year, personally, maybe with another September callup. I think he has a lot of work to do on quality offspeed stuff and he doesn't need to be in the big leagues to do that, at least not yet. i agree.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 06:08 AM) He put up good numbers before in the minors. There use to be a slogan - free Viciedo. Maybe he can only hit minor league pitching. Maybe they should have offered Beckham a minor league contract and work on his hitting. In the farm system a quality hitting coach probably doesn't exist. the numbers will correct itself for major league pitching. either way, was the uproar really applied to the fact he lost some of that hitting success in the minors, or was it his defense lapse, or was it the whole pkg. Kendrys Morales - dh - avg 288 - hrs 18 it was, hopeful an eye opening experience, b/c no other team wanted him as well.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 06:17 AM) Trying to plan against injury doesn't make sense and does not always work. Sale missed the beginning of the season because he was moving. Should they put him in bubble wrap in October and break him out in February. It's foolish thinking. They try this in the NFL. last season, the team and sale had a real scare, especially but over pitching in a game. this season or should i say in spring training, as you said, he got hurt. bottom line why increase the odds of in injury. if a person, with all the necessary chances of getting injured, someone does, then that is the way it is. but at the same time don't help it by having key players play for what????

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 04:59 AM) The Buffalo News, citing two sources familiar with the case, reports that DNA evidence collected in the Patrick Kane were found on the woman's shoulders and fingernails. Per The Buffalo News: "DNA tests taken from a rape kit conducted on the woman showed no trace of Kane’s DNA was found in the woman’s genital area or on her undergarments," according to four sources. They caution that this does not automatically mean a sexual assault did not occur because there are more types of evidence in these crimes. Kane has not been charged with a crime for the alleged incident that occurred at his home Aug. 2 after a night out at a downtown Buffalo bar. The investigation continues. Source: The Buffalo News this is going to make this interesting. again another great update.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 03:09 AM) Nick Veronica @NickVeronica "DNA evidence does not confirm a woman’s allegations that Patrick Kane raped her," four sources told @TheBuffaloNews http://sabres.buffalonews.com/2015/09/19/d...s-in-kane-case/ … this is a great update. you are right on top of this news. many thanks for your work. now forensically speaking, if there is no dna proof on any sexual contract what so ever, i find it hard for the courts to continue. is there a case anymore ???
