QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 02:38 AM) Bickell can be moved or bought out next season. He only has 1 more year on his deal after this year, that is much more appealing to teams that will be trying to get to the cap floor. Or they could just flat out buy him out and save at least 2 million. Are you talking about forward prospects or defensive prospects? Offensively, they have quite a few prospects that are blocked from player on the big club. Defensively, they have Ville Pokka who is a right handed Nick Leddy. An absolute stud that should make the team in a year or two. something pop up when i was writing up something else. you also need to remember, ref the bold, that the waiver will be coming up. so why would anyone want to trade for him when they can get something on the cheap.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 03:18 AM) Well until they do wear out, no need to worry about it now. Keith, Seabrook, and Hjalmarsson are workhorses. It's a matter if Daley & TVR can stay healthy, and Rundblad can take a step. Remember, Hawks also have Visnovsky, Hejda, and Rozival in training camp on try outs. The first 2 could very well make the team. ok, i see what you are saying, but you are not looking at what i am saying. i hope i can put it this way and make my point .... in a better way you and many other could understand. this is on me. no offense. so the hawks really don't have depth in the minors or better yet in and around the age of 18-21 to step in. as you said, seabs, hammer and don't forget keith will be looking a little long in the tooth in 3 or 4 yrs. they, the hawks will need players who will step in and be the next group of hammer, seabs and keith. in other words, draft them now and let them develop in time. i will admit this, i am now extremely greedy, i love the lord stanley cup in the hawks possession. i would really hate to see go somewhere else other than chi.

Or they could just flat out buy him out and save at least 2 million. excellent analysis and i agree. Are you talking about forward prospects or defensive prospects? An absolute stud that should make the team in a year or two. nah, i am talking about 2 dmen ..... they, the sox org will need to find some replacement players for the future .... these dmen, in the system of Q, can not maintain that level of play, before they start to tire out. meaning tired legs for the elder players. it is just an age factor.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 03:18 AM) I bet Hahn listened to offers and is not the sumpin for nuttin guy. I disagree about getting a closer for less and be effective. Otherwise they would have done it. i agree. they have been looking and when jones went down last yr. no other pitcher was able to step up.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 01:31 AM) At least Cabrera performed on the field. personally I think clubhouse chemistry is over rated. The "Swingin' A" of the early / mid 70's hated each other. yet they won three straight World Series. It's about talent, pure and simple. The Sox have very little of it. Mark lets not forget the yanks of the reggie jackson era. but those were the exceptions to the rule. the clubhouse rule may be overrated but in most cases it is better to have harmony.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 02:35 AM) Not including this extension, Hawks would have 11 million in cap space with where the current cap is at. Seabrook will probably get a minor raise, however, the only free agents next year are Kruger, Tikhonov, and Shaw. i don't know, but i think someone is going to need to be moved. now, i wonder who. also, i really think they going to need to find prospects who can replace a group of excellent dmen.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 01:40 AM) Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea and wonders how much Seabrook Has left? i have several thoughts on that. 1. how much is the extension $$$ wise. 2. how are they going to find the roster space with a tight salary cap to absorb it. now looking at the dman the hawks has, will have and what maybe on market. it might just work out. this yr, his performance will be the telltale for me.

Vince Hinostroza a 5'9 center who played for ND and played 5 games for rockford, has done very well in the 2015 Prospect Tournaments. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/1288...-hometown-team/ i wonder if he can make it??

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) Hawks closing in on an extension with Seabrook. good, and thanks for the update.

QUOTE (WBWSF @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) I don't know if Ozzie gets another chance to manage the White Sox or elsewhere. I do know that EVERYBODY I talk to wants Ventura to be gone. JR is not a stupid man. I've read and heard all this talk about him being loyal to his front office and manager. There might be some truth to that but he has to realize that Ventura has to go. JR didn't resign Albert Belle after he hit over 40 Home Runs for the White Sox. JR realized that Belle was not wanted back by the White Sox fans and he didn't bring him back. He has to realize by now that Ventura is not wanted back here as White Sox manager. Dan McGrath (writer for the Sun Times) has said that Ventura will not come back next year. He said Ventura is not enjoying his job. I hope McGrath is correct. now if KW will be added to leaving as well.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) as far as Robertson is concerned the question to be asked is can he turn it around in 2016 and get back to what the Yankees and Sox both thought he would be? I think he can do that and I also don't think Nate Jones is quite there yet either. He has been hit hard the last few times out. Since DR has a four year contract I don't see him going anywhere it all depends on if the sox improve for next yr in personnel. if the sox do improve, if they get the missing pieces that will be needed to win, then by default, robertson will have better stats.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Because hes being investigated for rape and absolutely anything he says can be held against him. If he says hes not gonna drink anymore it could make it look like he feels guilty, if he says he isnt going to change anything people will say its disrespectful to the accuser etc. They flat out said he was only going to answer questions about hockey and then people are upset that he didnt answer questions not related to hockey. I can also understand people suggesting to maybe not have the press conference but there would also be a handful of people griping about them not releasing a statement about why Kane is allowed at tc. If anything they just shouldnt have allowed questions to Kane but everything else seemed relevant to me. The team got a chance to explain why Kane was invited to attend camp and Kane finally got the chance to claim he feels he is innocent and that it will be proven when the facts come out. That might seem like a cliche thing for him to say and think "well of course he would say that" but he has been silent since he was accused and even the lack of any statement from him can be viewed as suspicious from outsiders. a different way of looking at it. i said i wasn't sure about this thing and i will now say i was right. what the hawks did was laid the ground work and show some support, within the scope of "he is innocent until proven guilty". they should have allowed him to make a statement and then leave. no answer and question session. that part was all screwed up. i still, for the life of me, figure out why they did it??

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) So the Sox tell him they won't add years to his contract. They give their blessing to move on and yet you guys won't get off the "he quit" brigade. You guys want everything I guess. Sox want Ozzie out - Done. Sox get compensation - Done. Sox don't have to pay him a final disastrous season - Done. Yet at the conclusion of all that: "We still hate you Ozzie. You quit on the team." Makes very little sense. You got everything you wanted and STILL hate the guy. Hate him for his mouth. Hate him for his kids. Hate him for his Sunday lineups and no sense of urgency as he became a fixture and complacent, but don't hate him for some phantom quitting. the sox fans did not hate ozzie and in fact, if i remember correctly, they were defending him. instead asking for kw to leave and give ozzie the raise. b/c he won the WS. this was all done after the fact. how many times was there a whole lot of defense for ozzie??? the point is, he abandon the org, b/c he did not get his way, just like a spoiled willful child. and as an after thought, his spoiled brats, took up the mantle to go to war in the press and / or any way they can. can you really say right here and now, that you still think he did not quit on the org, esp during the season and was in an on-going discussion with the marlins??

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:35 PM) Ozzie had no legal right to look elsewhere unless the team let him out of his contract for 2012. To do otherwise was to breach his contract. Which he did. yup... you are 100 % correct. i was wrong on the comment. but let ma add this one note. when jr gave him the hand shake, was it intended for the offseason or was it when the contract was over....

i just came back home from work and had some wonderful home made country style home made bread...... it is heavenly. home made bread with butter and jelly.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) I think that's semantics. You asked me to find an article as proof and I found one. The meeting did take place. Jerry and KW said no thanks on the extension and gave him the OK to move on. If he quit, so did Jerry and KW. So to you "Ozzie quit so I hate him" people, how do you justify not saying KW and Jerry quit in letting Ozzie go with 5 games to play? Those were mighty important games u know (obvious joke). no it isn't.... it was a business move. as it was a business move for ozzie to look elsewhere..... when the season ended.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) They had a meeting during the season and two sides decided to part? Proof enough for you? So he signed with Marlins. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/25245790/ but it did say that he asked to be allow to leave.... to quit on the team. still he was still prob negotiating with the marlins.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) Why aren't other teams knocking on Ozzie's door? maybe b/c his kids are answering the door.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) As I recall, Management was all for Ozzie negotiating something with Florida in order to get rid of him. Yes. I meant risking your hard earned money. Good chance of a zombie like performance if you go see a Sox game. Thing is, KW did want Ozzie gone and Florida took care of the problem. i am more than sure, it was meant for after the season..... not during the present season

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) I don't think anyone is too upset and what Kane did or didn't say. You can easily understand the situation he is in and why he has to be very limited in what he is speaking about. But the presentation was very amateur hour by the front office, and quite frankly they need to be better than that. Expectations have been raised across the board over the last five years, for good reason, and they are held to a very high standard. excellent point. but who is to say, that is what they wanted to do.in a way to divert the attention from kane and the players??? i would love someone to ask something like, with regards of the criminal case going on, do you think you will put the same offensive numbers that your contract dictate?? totally unrelated to this kane stuff. i wish someone would have asked about any expected trades with regards to other players on the team in order to get better.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) It is pretty arrogant to hold a press conference, but have the guy not answer anything related to what everyone wants to talk about. If that is the case, just release as statement saying that because of the on-going proceedings he can't talk to the press, but will once everything is resolved. What happened today was the worst of both worlds. a excellent point. yeah i agree. it is a waste of time.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) Did people really think Kane or the Blackhawks were going to talk about this case? The press conference was predictably ridiculous, and the criticisms will be predictable as well. I do agree with the why have a press conference group. It isn't like you are going to be saying anything groundbreaking. re the bold, i am going to be honest.... i wasn't sure on what the hawks org was trying to do except that they are not afraid??? don't ask b/c i do not know what i was meaning.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) 1. They requested all their media to travel to South Bend to hear Kane speak for the 1st time, and provide some insight. Those were the expectations set BY THE TEAM. 2. Kane had a somewhat poorly written statement that you could have found online in a PR handbook, and had the statement ready to go "I appreciate the question, I really do, but I can't answer that right now." 3. That's all fine, and somewhat expected. What really tipped the scales was then the Blackhawks Braintrust attempting to turn this into a pat on the back, look at how great we are press conference. Are you kidding me? Kane had just left the room, the body isn't even cold yet, and you're going to do that? You have all of training camp to hold another presser to talk about the upcoming season, no one was there for that. Understand expectations. That's always rule #1. wow... what a great post. really good. !!!!! ref to the bold. what a bs line ..... like anyone who is not smart enuf to realize that is a no freaking comment statement. i can't wait to see all the press take on this farce. but in ref to the hawks POV..... they laid the scope of how anything and everything is going to be answered. laid the ground work of what they will accept from the press without trying to offend them, but at the end of the day, the hawks needs a good feeling with them

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) Waddle and Silvy: I have a ton of respect for the Blackhawks and the way they run their business. Today, the Blackhawks totally missed the mark with that press conference. It's already begun. you have a good point. but for this discussion, i will play devil's advocate. how did they miss the mark? there is still an ongoing case?? no questions on the legal questions or how the team is reacting to this stupidity on Kane part.??
