QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) No doubt about it LDF. I see this as just having a discussion since the rumor mill has fired up. The only thing I'm certain on is the trading Samardzija, for what is the interesting part for me. With Samardzija pitching well and going deep into games he should net a return that could help the Sox sooner than what a comp pick in next year's draft would. Imo, sell high while the gettin' is good. Not necessarily now but at some point during July. i totally agree, but how would anyone know the selling would be better in July than now. that is if the team hasn't decided to go forth, in selling.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) No matter what, I would wait till the end of July to decide what to do. If they are like 3 games or less behind come July 25th I wouldn't sell. Sale-Shark(if we get the Shark of the last few starts)-Q- Rodon in a series could be really nice. yeah, i agree and i think that was how this all mess started. many of the sox fans, believed and so did the sports writers.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) Brett Phillips is a very realistic option since Houston has so much outfield depth. The Yanks Jagielo is certainly worth a look too. yeah, we as fans can wish all we can. but the FO always sees things differently.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) With the pitching staff going the way it is I don't think trying for a wild card spot is a bad thing. I know I'm in the minority but I wouldn't hate to see the Sox ADD a bat somehow. You add a bat to this staff and its a whole new team. so you are for keeping the team together, keeping the pitching staff together, and somehow add a bat for a wild card run. ok, i with you, but if this team fails, the perfect trading pieces and time would have been wasted. a time that the team NEEDS to address the holes the team has. there is NO help in the minors coming in the fix those holes, and trading pieces in the offseason, well, that price or need may not be there. i like the never say die attitude you have, but the "White Flag Trade" part 2 is needed.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) I understand what you mean. And I think I agree. Here's the problem. They have awesome starting pitching and are only 5.5 back of the 2nd WildCard. It's easy for us to say this. We don't know what Reinsdorf thinks though. If Reinsdorf doesn't want Hahn/Williams to sell yet, then they won't be selling. I think they let this play out over the next 2 weeks. They obviously believe in the team that they put together. I don't know how many games they need to be back to decide to sell around July 30th. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Regardless, they don't have much to sell and they want to win again in 2016 wow, you got an excellent point and brought up something interesting. i wouldn't pass the idea of the sox doing nothing, until they are mathematically out of it. i can see the owners doing nothing until them, b/c of the grief they have received this season. in other words, being difficult.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) Sounds like Samardzija is getting more and more attention on the trade market so that's a good sign from the Sox perspective. Always have more leverage when a team comes to the Sox instead of the other way around. Imo, I do not see a match with Toronto but Houston is very interesting. Would like to see the Sox get 1B AJ Reed from Houston. The Yanks are interesting as well and wouldn't mind packaging Samardzija with a reliever for Jorge Mateo and Gary Sanchez. I could be way off base with those proposals but I'm just thinking out loud. i like the way this post is going. hou - Brett Phillips or Derek Fisher - of. Jacob Nottingham - catcher. however hou has some really interesting pithers. yank - Sanchez - cat, Jagielo - 3b, Tyler Wade - ss, Domingo Acevedo - sp. now i listed 4 players, i would like sanchez pluy 1 ot the following.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) They need to take offers now. If it's there, take it. don't know what the market will look like in a month. We know today there are buyers. exactly, make the move first, before the other teams makes the first trade.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) It's July 5th. No reason to rush being sellers. I would also give this team a bit more time no matter how crazy that sounds. Who knows maybe that catch last night lights a fire under Avi and he takes off. With the pitching performing like we had hoped all we need is one or 2 guys to carry this team. what to overcome the hole that the sox are in to what??? make the wild card running? this is a "fool gold" kind of wishful thinking. realistically i can't see it.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 03:05 AM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/07/03/lev...ries_vph-sports Listing Houston and Toronto as head of class at scouting shark i kinda wish that the trade gets done sooner than later. they should should put out the feelers now and see what is out there. this not doing anything is bull crap.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 12:09 AM) f*** Boston. Their prospects are usually overrated. again the idea of supply and demand.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 11:53 PM) Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 24m24 minutes ago #Tigers, #Astros and #Royals reportedly in the mix for Jeff Samardzija. @Gelman_Scott with details: http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/7/4/88944...rs-trade-rumors … DET!!! now imagine liquids spewing from nose as cough continues. as the refreshment drink i was drinking is exiting the body

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) I'll take an outfielder who can hit and play D and a good catching prospect. I'll take 2 such OFs instead. That's fine. They aren't in a position to use this to plug a hole, if it means passing on superior talent. excellent point, i didn't think of that. umm but the sox will need to trade to fill holes, and need to trade for players who the other team may want to trade.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 10:56 PM) I wonder if the fact that the Sox have fewer minor league teams than a lot of orgs factors into it. Cubs have 1 more and the Astros have 2 more. that is an interesting point, but the bottom line is the development of each prospects to make the parent team. this is accumulating all the talent that they can and then take the best developed players.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) I don't think they are trading Melky. i agree, esp with melky starting to hit.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) But from Pitts point of view they are likely looking to trade from their outfield depth which is rather deep considering they just sent Tabata and his contract to AAA. Reese is a heck of a prospect but he's a catcher at A+ and only 20 years old so he's likely quite a ways off from being MLB ready which does not really help the Sox much. Diaz could step into the majors right now as a good defensive oriented backup with a cannon for an arm and still just 24 years old so there is still a chance he could become an every day catcher in time. If Pitt needs a second player the Sox could offer a reliever in the deal since thats one area the Sox have an excess of. As far as 3B Pitt does not have anything to offer that could help the Sox in the short term. They have Wyatt Mathisen but he doesn't grade out any better than what the Sox have in Delmonico. I actually prefer Delmonico over Mathisen. So as far as trading with Pitt goes its about outfielders and catchers. nice reasoning, i guess the main question is, will the sox select prospect who can step in and be able to play next yr.... i am looking at players who may be 2 yrs away but 1 player who can step in to help. it is confusing, but i can see what i am looking at. i may have a hard time explaining it.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Just read up on the year that the Cubs went over bonus pool, they signed a whopping 47 guys in the signing period. FWIW Sox signed 18. Just another reason why the system benefits the rich. while the northsiders signed 47, what was the total cost at the end of the day?? they are going to have 1 hell of a system in the coming yrs. yo.... sox owners, this is how to rebuild the farm system.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) I like your thinking. Would really like to get Elias Diaz to go with Meadows. i can see why your and several other excitement on the Pitt of-prospect, but the need of this club is cat, 3b infielder, in that order per my opinion. pitt has 4 catching prospect in the T30. again basing on the hole the system has, i will ask for a cat to start, Reese McGuire-cat has the most upside. then i would deal with another hole. i think Meadows, while promising, i think Pitt will be hesitant to allow a 2 nd player.

i might as well jump in with my opinion. the i am a Danks fan but i also know that he is but a shadow of what he was, pre surgery. yesterday, he battle and won. left the game with a shutout and that score stood. the last 2 games, he did enuf to win and he didn't?? i am judging him on this game only in other words, i am judging him on his present game. that is all i can do. we all know he is not what he was. as a sox fan, i just hope for the same kind of performance every game, but it won't happen like that.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) http://mobile.sportingnews.com/article/464...co%2FOBWHx8XJTJ for me, i would asked for Reese McGuire-c, plus 1 more player.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 10:03 PM) Most of these catcher prospects, if they succeed, will end up being like these catchers we're always dissatisfied with. Rather see some positions solidified that are easier to solidify. Pentecost is a mile away from the majors, injured. Pass after seeing that he had another surgery on him shoulder, ehhh forget about it. if the Tor wants him, all i see are pitchers that i would be entice with.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 01:22 AM) There it is, good for him. Sounds like the Hawks might have given him $5 million, but doubt it would be for 6 years. Can't blame either side, blame the system. i thought it was rumored to be something like 5.5. something but then again, i was going with what the sports sites where talking about.

QUOTE (juddling @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 04:42 AM) Triple feature at home today. American Sniper, Whiplash, and Unbroken. Don't think I could pick a favorite from those three. for me, 1) Whiplash tie with Unbroken i thought American Sniper, at the time was ok, now, after reading on him, i hated the movie.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) Ha! Now read this piece from a couple weeks ago on what the Sox may be doing next with that remaining pool money. Tracker updated. thanks

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 06:15 PM) You brought up the draft i brought up something purely innocent on how the draft this yr was stronger. i didn't digress into the DR, PR and such and the safety of the scouts. how is that related to what i was stating??? the draft is the draft. it is what it is. politics of who is being listed is not the question,

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) If you want to know how f***ed the system is, just take a look at Micker Adolfo. He is a natural born American citizen, from the Virgin Islands but because he felt that the draft would pay no attention to him, his family uprooted themselves, left American soil and headed for the DR, a third world country. Hold on, don't say anything and think about that for a moment....... U.S. Citizens moving to a foreign country so that they can gain employment from a US company that essentially holds a legal multi billion dollar monopoly. In what world does that even make sense? Would an international draft slice that problem and stop things like this from happening, I don't know. The draft would allow for more corruption. there will always be loop holes, and team will always try to exploit those hole. ref to your other post of labor law..... if there was such a problem, believe you me, the law enforcement agency will have gotten involve already. that is if i was reading what you wrote right.
