  1. QUOTE (LDF @ May 6, 2015 -> 10:08 PM) now i get it. i just couldn't see this and why.... i mean why would Arz wanted Stephenson or Whitley. according to some blogs i have been reading. it has been mentioned that Arz wants to go with someone other than the favorites to save cap money. they are going to want some big money to go for some hs'ers who they are planning on picking in round 2 and 3 and want to entice them with money. so with that Law comes up with his scenario, and his mock. that mean Hou will be the key in the the draft, well not in the 1 selection. that mean Rodgers there. and then comes the domino effect. wow... a lot of different choices now. now, i can't see who Tx can pick, and there is no judging what Minny will do. oh man, i am loving this. well, with the name of prep - catcher - Tyler Stephenson being mentioned with the Arz pick, i needed to get some up to date info, stats and read his profile. so i am wondering, who is he, what is making him so special. with that, he was hurt until the middle of April, he has had a brief time playing ball this yr. i guess, and this is why i do not kid myself of a wanna be scout, of doing this professionally, they need a special gift. in a short time, scouts have rave about his power, his hit tools. the only thing i have able to put anything about his defensive tools is, he will stay at catcher with an outstanding throwing arm. it has been mention while he is really slow running wise, he has quick feet, quick reaction and is agile behind the plate. slow and quick, isn't this a contradiction? http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/high-...-start-georgia/ http://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerp....aspx?ID=278751
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 7, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) Sale has had two bad starts in a row. Anybody else worried? nah... no spring training and now will miss 2 starts .

    The Beer Thread

when i lived in chi, i use to go to a micro place on Roosevelt in berwyn, called Winegardner. i think i am spelling it right. but they made this great beer called Bavarian Weiss and served in a boot. i was in heaven. but down here in Louisiana, they don't have any good beer but now i am into scotch now.

  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:07 AM) Awesome win. How the hell did this team pull that off? Well if Sox keep this up maybe we'll have to assume they are not a lousy team, just a horrific road team. That's an amazing win. I went for a jog in the 8th and now will wait for the highlights on mlb.com. Team dysfunction continues to be weird ... tonight the good side of the Jeckyll/Hyde thing. Sorry to doubt you White Sox, but that four-game sweep in Minnie was un-nerving. i like that ...... alot.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:06 AM) Somehow, only four games out of first in the loss column. as i have been saying all this time, the sox will come back i am so full of shiite i can't keep a straight face.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:02 AM) I'm just hoping this is the win that finally gets us going. If we can win 3 out of the next 4 I might start feeling better about the team can't wait for tomorrow morning when the main regulars gets on this board. bedlam will ensue..... yesss.
  8. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:02 AM) No errors tonight! Yay for good defense and the top of the order is doing their thing, hitting.
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:56 AM) OURS BOY JUST DON'T QUIT! a great turn around from last week. i see the change in attitude on the team, or am i having wishful thoughts
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:57 AM) Let's start hitting earlier next time! winning sure as hades, really improve the mood on this board.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:57 AM) Let's start hitting earlier next time! man, i do not want them to rush it. let them get used to this and then take the next step. psst, ws players, old men like me can't take this dramatic endings.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:53 AM) Sweep them tomorrow! it may not have been pretty, but i will sure in hades take it.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2015 -> 11:51 PM) We should have a poll (which the moderators) would never approve, but it would be an entertaining discussion. Which of the following coaching combinations would lead the White Sox to the best record (if Robin Ventura was replaced by)?: 1) Dick Allen (you can name your own bench coach) 2) Fathom and Balta (just because I like his politics the most of the mods, lol) 3) A combination of two of ANY two of the remaining mods 4) Jake and Brian (the movie/tv team) 5) Kyyle and Northside 6) the rest of the field of non-mods (I'll name LDF and Greg775 for my co-coaches and we can party at Applebee's after games) 7) flavum and Greg Hibbard, because there'd be lots of optimism and theoretical record projections mixed in with cliches for post-game press conferences I vote 2. for me. just let me know, and call me at the nearest bar.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2015 -> 12:11 AM) Whit Sox players don't play well, clearly Ventura's fault. Lack of talent , and injuries be damned. Any other manager has a team that sucks, so and so didn't play well. Why isn't Joe Mauer's drop off on Gardy? Or Choo's horribleness your pals fault? If they were White Sox you know who you would be blaming. why does blame need to be heap on anyone, there is no accountability b/c the sox owners are loyal. (i would add green, but it is true)
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) If it was anything serious, I doubt it would take place on the field during BP. i am kinda surprise that these words weren't added. "and they had a harmonious get together"
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) Boy would I love to be a fly on the wall for this conversation. Paul Sullivan ‏@PWSullivan 58s58 seconds ago Pow-wow during BP between Reinsdorf, Hahn, Robin and Stoney. wow, you are not kidding. question why stoney and not kw?? was it b/c of stoney statement on the job is robin until he doesn't want it? and why during BP?
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 6, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) Keith Law has a piece on ESPN about Prep Catcher Stephenson possibly going to Arizona at #1: http://espn.go.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=3890 Some other highlights: Arizona could go against consensus with Stephenson or Garrett Whitley. Houston wants 2 position players and he has them with Dansby Swanson and Daz Cameron. They aren't as high on Rodgers as everyone else. Colorado wants pitching at #3 and Law has them taking Dillon Tate. Texas has been linked to Walker Buehler but he thinks they'd take Brendan Rodgers Links Kolby Allard to Twins at #6 He says from multiple sources that Alex Bregman won't fall past 7 to Boston Law says that White Sox want college pitching at 8 and lists Funkhouser, Jay, and Kirby Cubs interested in HS OF Trenton Clark among others. now i get it. i just couldn't see this and why.... i mean why would Arz wanted Stephenson or Whitley. according to some blogs i have been reading. it has been mentioned that Arz wants to go with someone other than the favorites to save cap money. they are going to want some big money to go for some hs'ers who they are planning on picking in round 2 and 3 and want to entice them with money. so with that Law comes up with his scenario, and his mock. that mean Hou will be the key in the the draft, well not in the 1 selection. that mean Rodgers there. and then comes the domino effect. wow... a lot of different choices now. now, i can't see who Tx can pick, and there is no judging what Minny will do. oh man, i am loving this.
  18. 5-5 fl st - lost - DJ Stewart - of. batting #3, 2 ab, 0 run, 0 hit, 0 rbi, 2 bb, 2 k's bos coll - Chirs Shaw had a little stinger, in the injured area. (in other words, for me, beats the hell out of me)
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ May 6, 2015 -> 08:10 PM) It was bad timing for what they tried to put around it, not necessarily the players they gave up. It's been 6 years of suck, on the whole. i can see what you are saying. this is a case that i can actually say is divided into 3 different phase. 1. the timing of the trade and what was given to get him. 2. the time missed, due to injury and missing that important element that he was to fill 3. the rtn of the trade.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2015 -> 08:06 PM) Wear them until it doesn't work. And get some gray ones. They need some help on the road. I never liked those uniforms. I always thought they looked like space suits. For some reason, I think they look better on fans in the stands. superstitions, that kind of remind me of a story, i can't remember who, but this player would refuse to clean or change his uni if he is on a hitting streak. even on the rd, he would wear that uni under his road uni. i would really hate it if it was in the aug month.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) The problem is nobody is going to waive a good catcher, and if somehow they do, if the Sox aren't first in priority, forget it. If you look at catchers across baseball, as bad as we think Flowers is, or Soto is, there are a lot more guys like them than guys who would be upgrades. A good catcher is worth his weight in gold. That's why there is zero chance the Brewers trade Lucroy. yes you are right, but we are now narrowing down the general question to more a specific one.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2015 -> 08:18 PM) I do think something was learned. If this offense had been hitting like this under Walker, the fire him, bad at his job...threads and posts would have been too many to count. There really is nothing out there calling for Steverson's head. excellent question. for some of the time, yes, however, the coaches of the different needs are judge differently. the fans and management can see the individual coach like pitching coach, that end result is seen quickly. hitting coach, i guess, you can see that end result as quick as the pitching, and then the other coaches.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) I don't think position matters as much as a scouting report. There are still several things they can do to make room on the 40 if needed. very true, but first, it is that player, that is needed to be put on the waiver. this is a nice discussion for the "what if". but i still need to see, if that player is better than what the sox have at the present. however, dang i really hate me for this, i always have a however. but however, catching is a huge hole in the system.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 6, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Last 8 years and ZERO playoff appearances..........yep loyalty has worked out so well. a farm system that has produce, a majority of the time, crap. an inept scouting core, that has drafted, crap.
  25. with the roster at 39, what i think is, if a player who is put on the waivers list is better than anything that is on the roster or in the system, and that is a need, the sox will pick him up.
