  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) The problem is that rebuilding on the fly has left us in a position that right now is as bad as we were 2 years ago when we started the most recent attempt at rebuilding on the fly. it wasn't building on the fly, it is that the system was devoid of any prospect higher than maybe single A or A+. the cupboard was bare. so the sox had to fill up the roster and the only fast way was to do thru Fa's rt.
  2. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) It's way too early to make rash decisions. The 2001 White Sox started 8-19 and finished 83-79. At one point in late September, they were 78-72. They weren't ever really in it - but they had high expectations coming off of the 2000 division title, started out worse than anyone could have possibly imagined, and completely turned it around. Had the fifth playoff spot been in play - the 2001 White Sox would have finished just 2 games out of that slot. Let's not talk about the White Sox - let's talk about the field. I see a West and East with every other team besides the frontrunner below .500 at this point. I see a Detroit that's gone 6-7 in their last 13. I see a Kansas city that's gone 5-6 in their last 11. I see a Cleveland and a Minnesota full of holes. Now, let's talk about the White Sox. I see a team playing just about as bad as they possibly can, in terms of fundamentals and errors. I see a team hitting .242 with an team ERA north of 4.5 - and still just a handful of games under .500 despite that. Folks, we are hitting the bad end of the variance right now, and after this Detroit series - even if we get swept....we have the next 16 games mostly at home ALL against very beatable teams to get fat on - Cincy here, at Milwaukee, at a bad Oakland, vs. Cle and Min at home.... Don't close the book on this season until after the May 8-May 24 stretch. I see us going 10-6 there and clawing back into this thing. no matter how anyone spins it, this season is almost a lost. the only thing is to play it out. however, the team and the org can take the rest of the yr and address the holes, continue to improve, to continue to show the fans the team and org will make it right.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) Before LDF asks, f*** I'm Good, Just Ask Me. oh man, you are killing me.
  4. people at work are saying i am in a ranting rage..... i don't think so. am i ?? oh well, i will take a break from this. i really don't think i am. peace.
  5. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) I've seen guys get by and hit well in the minors before. I;d really like to see these guys come up to the big leagues, have a solid approach, and learn how to adjust. I NEVER see that from guys coming up in this system. I hope its changing, but us as fans, shouldn't really believe otherwise until it happens. nice point and i can see and appreciate the skepticism. but it will take a long time to be convince of the change. baby steps.....
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) I am surprised there haven't been any moves of some sort, like calling up Sanchez and sending Micah down. Something to shake things up and possibly improve the defense which is beyond brutal. yeah that is the other problem i am having, they are late in really addressing what could be a remedy, to fix it.
  7. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) Did he really write: "Avisail Garcia, --- have all been below replacement level."?!? uhhhh...ok. yeah the typical hiding in the weeds to jump out and start pointing fingers.
  8. QUOTE (shysocks @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) I pointed to that run in the Friday game thread (it was 26-5, actually) and cited that the 8-11 Sox had the same winning % as the 2010 team (24-33) when it started the run. Not sure what to make of the road record and if that's on Robin, or if the team was rattled from stewing in Baltimore with nothing to do or if they were too sick to perform. It's all still small sample and I think the offense will start to do what it's supposed to do, but the hole is becoming too deep. And when Dave Cameron sits there and writes this I-told-you-so column (sure man, I know you guessed that a bunch of regulars would have a wRC+ hovering in the range of 50) he can just **** right off a cliff. nice post. for me, it is highlighting the holes this team has. the holes we as fans knew and yet was hoping for a better start. this start is a freak of nature kind of implosion. no one in there right mind could have predicted this start. however and there is always gong to be a however, he really is shinning the light on the management side and pointing the fingers at them. they can't get rid of the owners, gm's but they could address it with getting rid of the manager.
  9. QUOTE (Tex @ May 4, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) While it is easy, and probably appropriate to explore the racial angles, you also have the frustration of all cops over the assembly line of crimes, arrests, back on the street, crimes, arrests, . . . So who do they vent their frustrations on? Poor people without access to lawyers that could really build cases. they are venting their frustration along with those who are screaming the most about unlawful misdoings by the cops. that is all it takes.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) Sanchez Player of the Week again. https://twitter.com/KnightsBaseball/status/...245687173951489 excellent, this is one player who didn't go down to sulked. he is on a mission.
  11. an interesting point was made on realizing and putting the prediction on the lineup. nice thought process. i would have look at the players the sox got, the rtn players and the number they put up, and and the strength of the pitching, excluding Rodon. i still would have put my money on this team doing a hell alot better than it has. i did not, for the life of me see this implosion.
  12. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:18 PM) As many points as this guy has, I mean: really? After one month? He wants to blow up the team? This reeks of knee-jerk or what two of you have already said: he's just been waiting to write this piece. I really don't think the players are the issue here. they have to take some of the responsibility in this, but i put most of this on lady luck followed closely by management.
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) The thing about this year isn't that the team had holes like the projections said, it's that even the GOOD players have sucked. Aside from health, this season almost could not have gone worse than it has. It's just a frustrating pile of crap and Cameron's probably right that it's already too big a hole to dig out from, considering that we just happen to be in a division with the two top teams in the AL so far. yeah, you hit is on the head right there. too big of a hole to work out of it. that is all i am going to point out, that hasn't been been mention in many other threads. nice find.
  14. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ May 4, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) This is what it comes down to for me. At the end of the day, regardless of who you bring in as a manager or a general manager, regardless of who you draft or sign internationally, you have to have confidence that you can develop players. I have no confidence that this organization can develop a position player. There is no evidence that they can. So how can I get excited about anything? well you do make an excellent point. however i am seeing an improvement in the hitting, is it b/c the hitting philosophy is coming from the sox hitting coach in the majors??? i think it is.. but it is going to be a long time to see the change.
  15. excellent find. i disagree with one important part of that article. but i do agree on some, esp the holes that we, the fans were complaining about. we and again, for my part, i was looking at the beginning of the rebuild. i was static about it. then it stop. however, most i think saw the improvement and realize that there were little room for error. we or I as a fan had for good luck and high hopes of the team performing as many thought they would. now, i can see all the naysayers that were hibernating coming out now and pointing fingers and listing stats to prove themselves right. maybe they were, and we as fans put too much faith in this team, our team.
  16. i was reading an interesting article on the affirmative action in the mlb and how it is slowing down again. i now wish i copied the link. but the point is, as soon as the reporter started talking about successes in the mlb, KW name is the first. many things can be taken from that article, me, i took it as a fluff piece that showed the sox in a good light, whether it really did anything positive or not.
  17. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) Nothing. They just keep digging deeper. Each year, the situation gets worse. not really. the last big blow up the fans had on the sox was over 12+yrs. i think. they don't dig it deeper, they just show a little camouflage paint job and complain about the fans not coming out to support them and why should they continue this. BS. all the time making money.
  18. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) redtube and it's pretty much porn. jeeze.... i too freaking old for that crap. i think i need pills for that, that is if i remember.
  19. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) The team friendly contracts that have been signed. We have a very nice core locked up for several years and at a very reasonable price....surely we don't need to dig up the offseason threads where we were all swinging from RH's nut hairs for securing our core? All that didn't go out the window because we've gotten off to a bad start. I think the plan all along was to compete in 2016 and beyond, with 2015 being a "let the cards fall where they may" kind of season, with the hope that we'd be at least in the hunt for a wild card spot. don't get me wrong, i was the major one, and i will not speak for anyone else. but i was singing Hahn praises and still am. but then it hit the wall and stop. many a posters were saying at that time, the sox were a couple more players away from rebuilding. but it stop, instead, the sox got penny and beckham. the put all their eggs in danks, hector, t.flowers, conors and beckham. ok beckham as of today maybe the perfect backup that the team needed, but they still had holes..
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) That's all this guy does around here. He likes to stir the pot and I'm an easy target.... Being that I take myself so seriously. imo there are many like that. totally off the subject, what is redbelt??
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) The hell? Beckham has been more than fine as a backup IF this season and they spent peanuts on Drabek. i guess that one should have been in green. but the others that i stated, nothing on those? the sox got lucky so far on beckham. remember in his career, he has always had a good month. but the point, no one thought he will do this good, there were other options avail.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) I think worse. i like that. too bad someone couldn't fix the pict and put chi sox org fire.
  23. when are the hitters going to have the same kind of meeting???
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) I think a few people do not understand the numbers going into major league baseball players today. ok, for this discussion, a QD will be around + / - 15-18 mils. JS and his agent, will still think he worth it. but lets say, he didn't do well and accepts it. so, we can get another yr of JS in his prime and he can rebuild his value on he sox nickle. it is still a win / win situation.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 4, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) It's gone from slurping Hahn during the winter, praising every move, to now every move has KW's fingerprints on it, he has to go. While I do agree he should go to at least make it appear Hahn is the actual GM, Hahn is now the Don Cooper of White Sox executives. Nothing he does is bad, only good. If bad occurs, it has nothing to do with him. If Hahn totally disagreed with the moves being made, I am sure he could put up a stink, and ultimately find another job pretty easily. I also don't think the winter moves were bad, and ultimately the White Sox will play better, hopefully starting tomorrow. i will play devil's advocate, who really stop Hahn from continuing his rebuild? who told Hahn to sign Penny and who set the parameters to resign Beckham. no one will know that answer. no one. so by default, it falls on Hahn. and the sox owners.
