  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) How many playoff appearances do Gardenhire, Matheny and Ausmus have? 10. And Ventura....? With Gardenhire, he has at least proven he can get the job done making the post-season in six out of nine seasons, often besting teams with superior payrolls in the White Sox, Tigers and Indians. As DA likes to say, give Torre/Cox/LaRussa a team with zero power but still one of the biggest contracts in the game (Mauer), a concussion disabled Morneau, no Santana, no Liriano, no Radke, no bullpen other than Perkins, trade away JJ Hardy for a hapless middle reliever, injured Buxton and Sano, no Torii Hunter, no Cuddyer, no Span, no Kubel...they won't be HOF managers. What is the excuse for the Ventura-led White Sox this year? No talent STILL? Don Cooper? i won't discuss last yr RV stats, b/c that team was brutal. this yr, the season is but 1 month old, lets discuss this when / if the sox gets eliminated. but until then they still have a chance. however, i will flip this around, even i am getting tired of this no emotion team playing below standard baseball. crap, i bet one of the minor league team right now, can best this team. no freaking emotion, no signs of this team even caring whether they win or loose. so in essence, who's fault is that????
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Because logic doesn't enter in the equation. 8-13 is bad but not the end of the world. 2005 had a 5-12 streak and a 7-12 streak and they won 99. ok, i still don't know why those posters are mentioning him. but i am with you on this.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) I agree. Add Big Frank or Bo Jackson to the dugout a month and we're back in business. The only problem is Frank is super busy right now selling his delicious beer in Berwyn. Let's cross our fingers Bo is available. was big frank that much of a positive influence in the clubhouse and or dugout.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) First off, the Sox aren't going to fire Robin. Secondly, 99,96,96,92. Those are the amount of games Gardenhire managed teams have lost the last 4 seasons. On Soxtalk, losing with bad rosters is OK if it is with other teams. This year, the roster is better. They will start playing better. first bold, yeah i know that, i was confuse on why Gardenhire will be a better coach by some of the other posters who keeps mentioning him. if i understand this correctly, he lost all those games... then why does posters think he will be better than RV??
  5. QUOTE (buckweaver @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) What are the age stats of this site and should they matter? Maybe I missed the post that noted this is a board for 30 and under. If so, provide the link please. But your reply which apologizes for offending begins by being dismissive. I'll live. I'll also give you a piece of advice...when you make a statement...then continue "but..." it completely negates the statement made at the start of that sentence. Also, don't use hyperbole to extol your position. If you dismiss a 30-year-old example specific to the White Sox on a White Sox board by saying it's something that happens one or twice in 100 years, but don't offer any proof...well, that's simply foolish. Perhaps last place run differential on May 2 IS an OK predictor. But if you throw it out there and don't do the research, please don't GUESS at statistical reality (dozen, two dozen AND 95%). And that last guess/statement...back to Fox Sox News...you got your money's worth...two opinions and a guess guess thrown out there as fact. In my initial post in this thread, I offered an example of of one of the most exciting seasons in the history of the team we come to this board to read about. I put it out there as an example of how the team we love came back from a season's beginning as bad as the one we're experiencing presently. Does it mean I'm overly, blindly optimistic? No...it means I hope what we've seen so far is not what we'll see in the five or six months ahead. Back to lurking. it is ashame that this board will loose a, what appears to be a good poster. i hope you reconsider.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) What Gardenhire is up to these days....not entirely sure hes the long term answer but would like to see what he could do the remainder of this season. ok, i mean not disrespect to any and all who keeps bring up Gardenhire as a coach for the sox. but can some one explain why they think he would be a good one???
  7. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) Sox missed the boat by not going hard after Maddon. I liked what the Cubs did. They didn't care that they had a manager in place. A better guy became available and they swooped. pretty much as how the blackhawks got Q.
  8. this A2 movie finally made me decided to watch the previous movies. i watch Cap America winter solice and A1. question for A1 movie, at the end, the little snippet, was that suppose to be Red Skull?? now remember, i am admitting i have a total lack of info in any of these movie / comics. i never really got into comic books things.
  9. QUOTE (buckweaver @ May 2, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) Really? Don't throw something out as fact without backing it up. It's like Fox Sox News. The initial response to my post said a turnaround happens "every 50 to 100 years," then he added a couple more recent examples. Even the '83 Sox is but 32 years ago...a long way from 50 or 100. And we're not talking 2-22 here...the team is four games under. I recall offhand a recent Tampa Bay team that sucked its way through April and contended. Colorado Rockies? Anyone with the resources to compare April MLB records with final records? I did a cursory Google search but didn't come up with anything. As for toughening up...thanks for the warm invitation to keep posting; I truly appreciate the sincerity. Truth is, nearly every post I've made...mostly factual like this one...receives a personal jab or insult. Life's too short. Soxtalk is on my "regular" online visits, particularly around deadline times, because some folks here consolidate real news sources and there are a couple insiders who share information at times (Bucket and Rock). But truth is, there are simply too many "Richards" to make it worth posting more. i like what you wrote. ballsy. excellent come back. if anything take this as an introduction by fire. i guess many posters are at their wits end, b/c of all the loosing. loosing when most of us thought it will be winning that we were looking forward to.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 3, 2015 -> 04:15 AM) This is like the old days. The sox are officially out of the division chase on May 2. They ain't going to make up 7 games on Detroit/KC. Anybody who thinks it's possible with this team's performance against Central teams head to head is dreaming. i think the sox will make a run, they will make it interesting. and yeah, they will make up the games. however you have to remember, it was I who predicted someting like 32 or something like that by the ASG.
  11. no matter how much or how little fault Hahn is responsible for, he still take his marching orders from his superiors.
  12. question was asked about RV. if the sox decide to fire him, i would think that ozzie will not be on the long or short list. while he burnt his bridge with his son, remember he openly pursued a job while he was employed with the sox. a real hard slap to the sox org as a whole. second, they need a coach who shows more emotions, not privately in the clubhouse, if he does that, but someone with a pulse. this team needs to have the captains step up again. it is there fault as much as any for not help driving the team.

  14. QUOTE (joegraz @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:54 AM) Exactly. Forget about '05. He believes he has the magic touch and is simply an incompetent, pompous, Peter-principaled, head-up the-a**-of-the-owner, couldn't play, couldn't manage, couldn't GM beyond a year or 2,.....what am I missing? There is definitely more. welcome aboard there is a list of wrongs and yes kw should have his share. but using this as an excuse of having ozzie back, no way on that. ozzie and yeah with his son burned his bridge. i honestly think that he got too big of a head b/c of WS win.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:48 AM) Against Nolasco, if you're satisfied with just three runs....well, the bar of expectations has been readjusted way too low. yes i agree that i have readjusted the bar. i want to be seen as still a sox fan, and yeah, with little hope in this team. i am now of the expectancy of seeing the sox maybe finish with a little better record than last yr. yes, i do not want to known of a poster who is constantly complaining that the sox are screwing up. might as well make the best of this mess up team. there is going to be a time to point fingers. funny how the sox owners came out and gave grief on the fans not showing up, why are the owners not coming out and give grief on the embarrassing way their team is performing. where is the accountability from the management group???? oh maybe it is the sox fans are still not coming out as expected, is the reason they are loosing.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 2, 2015 -> 11:37 PM) This is why the Sox organization top down has missed the playoffs last 8 years. JR loyalty is a reason why Sox have been in the s***ter so long. look at the loyalty JR and owners get from this site. look at the, for me, holy hell i got showing and yes ranting that the sox stop too early in getting FA's. at that time, i was ranting that the sox needed 2 more players and a backup. either way, nothing is going to change, this could've been a great team to see in the playoff. the sox is missing the spark. that spark did happen and then it died in Balt. how to get it back?? i like today's game, the sox scored 3 runs. well, maybe tomorrow will be better.
  17. nice write up, actually it was excellent and with the stats to prove or make the point, i am stoke of some other prospects that are not the favorites coming into the season.
  18. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ May 2, 2015 -> 02:24 AM) <!--quoteo(post=3151276:date=May 1, 2015 -> 03:11 PM:name=Dick Allen)-->QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) <!--quotec-->Are the 6 cops charged all white? No. are 2 of the white guys twins????

  20. Frankie Montas http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2441711...ctations/page/5 now brings up an interesting thought, did Montas might have gotten hurt??
  21. this is a ranking of the top 25 picks. i really don't know why they are not saying mack draft?? http://indians.scout.com/story/1542577-201...ings-1-25?s=264 interesting notes. Garrett Whitley, Daz Cameron, Donny Everett, Andrew Benintendi coming on strong. Everett and another sp is who i have been eyeballing the last month. i was going to wait for my next stats write up to add some extra tidbits. interesting on Cameron at 15 and Benintendi.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) Just like with Eric Garner, the guy who filmed Fred Gray's arrest has been arrested. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/am...t-10217973.html i wonder if this is like harassing a potential witness.
  23. LDF

    4/30 games

QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) Agreed, hopefully Davidson continues to slug the ball and puts himself in position to be promoted in a month or so if other options falter. no offense but i want all the major and minor prospect to really put themselves in contention to come on up. hawkins, anderson, davidson, a catcher and esp the sp's.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) I highly doubt the Sox are one of these teams: Kiley McDaniel @kileymcd · 5h 5 hours ago Multiple teams in the top 10 are on Cameron hard. Two scouts just texted me asking how in the world he's a 1st rounder. Call it a split camp i don't see it as well, unless he is willing to take way below the slot money.
  25. QUOTE (Sockin @ May 1, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) Heyman says Ventura's extension that he signed is through 2016. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-he...kees-more-notes if his job not at jeopardy, then why mention let alone give out the length of his contract? i am serious about this. it doesn't make any sense, esp with the history of the sox management not bending to outside the org pressure.
