QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) Yeah, thats the Keith Law top 50 I have not heard of Newman until recently, that was not my region to cover. I am going to start looking into him this weekend and gather an opinion on him. here is something to read, came out yesterday. also read up on Scott Kingery (spelling) who bats #1 and ahead of newman. their is another player i am starting to really like. i mean i can see him rise fast, Don Dewees he has some exciting stats lately. on btw, he is north fl. ~~~~ edit. oops i forgot this one as well. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/colle...power-profiles/

QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) You should also consider the other teams in this city are in the playoffs. Monday the Bulls, last night the Hawks. It'd be a hard sell to sit in the yr after the super bowl, me and friends sat in that freezing cold wx with the wind blowing watching the bears, and drinking frozen beer. but those were great memories.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Still well over 14,000 today...announced. We can confidently say attendance will be up 15-25% this year unless they are out of the race by the 54 game mark...the key as always, the numbers between Memorial and Labor Day. and even then, they have exciting players to watch, many will come out to watch Jose A and if Avi start to hit hard.... the same. the same with the pitchers,

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Cant wait until we need to get out moustakas, hosmer, morales and gordon....with who tmrw? Sale shouldnt be trying to throw a CG in brutal weather. Micah trying to hit that pitch past Harrelson's long drive record in golf. you are on a roll.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) It's pretty amazing that the Hawks have gotten this far and mounted 102 points in the regular season with how bad Shaw, Bickell, Richards, Versteeg, Timonen, Rozsival, and Vermette are. i agree with you for the most part. me Bickell and Versteeg > Versteeg, started off hot but since then??

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 04:20 PM) I watched most of the 2nd OT this morning on the CSN replay. That Shaw slashing penalty was so ridiculous. What is wrong with that guy? He's never met a dumb penalty he doesn't like. the winner..... that was really funny.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) Never play full-on retard...Ben Stiller paraphrase If im 45 and have seen the most movies or taught IB Film, does that mean I should be the final word? Of course not. Art and film are subjective mediums. I love Gladiator and Pacific Rim...and hokey Disney sports films like The Rookie or Glory Days. Does that mean I have to break down Tony Scott's film Unstoppable and support the idea its 100x better than any Bay film...that Deep Impact is still better than Armageddon...or should I instead support the thesis that Scott brothers films will drive one crazy by bouncing you around with that camera like a bad acid trip meeting the worst tendencies of the Jason Bourne films? This is like arguing that DaVincis the greatest artist of all-time because of the Mona Lisa and not his other more aesthetically pleasing work. Generally, when someone tries to prove anyone wrong in these film threads theyre going to go down in flames. wow, you kind of surprise me..... i never thought you were ..... ahh..... intelligent. however there are films out there that i refuse to see b/c of the actors.....

this city is a city that loves playoffs. no matter what sport. so with that, the stat that Caulfield posted, is not bad. of consider the main factors, wx and playoff.

interesting revamp mock. this mock doesn't have the teams listed, but players listed. i find that the list is interesting with players updates. http://www.drafttotheshow.com/the-mock/ JS posted the minor league and that list has the players updated as well, but, i don't agree with the #8 selection http://minorleaguemadhouse.com/2015/04/21/...-april-edition/

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 07:06 PM) Ha. I did papers in college, breaking down scenes from Raging Bull, Apocalypse Now, and even American Psycho. I would never think any film student would take MoS and break it down like that and be accurate. i really like movies and going to the theater to see them. but what you did, i know i am OCD, but that is just crazy. even for me. i got to give you and many credit for that. whew. ...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 07:09 PM) The important question for me is where are they versus the same point last year. exactly, they should use the attendance on a monthly for each yr. see how it stacks up against those totals.

that fans are the harshest critics ever with the shortest memory. however sometimes a good coach will willingly become the target for the fans instead of the team and the players. so maybe that was what coop was trying to do, have the fans focus on him.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) Missing picks at #2 and #3, it is going to be extremely difficult to go overslot at #8. Plus all of the pitching injuries are making this draft a mess. exactly, but the problem lies on who is there. nice point btw, so Hahn and his people will prob be having many different scenario, asking the most important question at the time, what if, this player is not there and these players are selected already. i love this brain wrecking scene. it going to be fun.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) And when Eaton told Robin the ball hit him on the hand, the challenge didn't work. It might have, and probably did hit his hand. The fact is, no matter how much Alexei claims he tagged him, if the replay guys see the same thing the guy reviewing the play sees, if they see a miss, the challenge isn't going to work. The big fail IMO is the actual replays and that is on the league. Both teams should look at the exact same thing the guy reviewing the play would be looking at. Nothing more, nothing less. that is the point, all of those reviews should be standardized.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) Rodon isn't complaining about relieving. Neither is his agent. In fact, Boras complimented the White Sox on their plan. Of course Carlos Rodon is no Duane Below. Duane Below should be happy to get into a major league game any way the team wants. ouch... that was harsh.
-
if the key players are not there at #8, and the sox wanted to go overslot, who would you pick??
-
QUOTE (KG#1 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) Alright, I didn't bother to look up the stats, just wanted to point out the Bryant situation that you pointed out and that Condor mentioned were completely different things. So Rodon has experience, but maybe its just a situation he isn't comfortable with. A buddy of mine is friends with Duane Below (former Tiger player), he said Below absolutely hated pitching in relief because he was used to being a starter. Just something Rodon needs to get used to until they make him a starter. in the old days, to a certain date, who knows what that date was, pitchers didn't like the RP status. it meant that they didn't have the skills or talent to be a starter. now, the preparation is much different now than before. pitchers has a huge mindset and have to prepare for the rigors of the 2 different pitching situation. starter vs rp. that is just my opinion.

this is a post of a lineup change, to shake things up. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/teams/stats/C...&_1:col_1=4 i don't buy the MJ moving to #1 as being too much pressure, he has his indoctrination into the big leagues already, however i also like EB for conor and JB for Eaton. for a game. things to shake this team up.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) No, my point in other posts, over the last couple of years, has consistently been that we needed a middle of the order left handed bat, to break up all of the right handed hitters. The Sox haven't had a good one, since Thome. Apparently, the front office felt the same way. Rick Hahn articulated that view, on multiple occasions. I'm just disappointed that they weren't able to sign someone who was also respectable vs. left handed pitching. i was and still am a huge fan of Adam. every since the season ended last yr, i was vocalizing that the sox should get him. Adam will hit, this team will come around, they need time. will they go on a tear to put themselves in contentions??? that is what i am wondering.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) Rodon did appear as a reliever for 3 of his 9 appearances in the minors last year, and 1 of his 6 times out this spring. He also made a relief appearance as a freshman in college. While it isn't a lot, is inaccurate to say "never".

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) Hopefully the Hawks can end this thing. i am so glad i do not live in chi, or the fact that i am tooo freaking old, but i would be hard press to catch a game today, but if i did live in chi, i would have. GO CHICAGO !!!! except for the sCrubs.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) He's played like 6 games at home. That sample size means nothing in terms of ballpark effect. He's actually improved. He's going up the middle and oppo, his core numbers are much better. His defense is improved. Seven of those K's came in the first three games. I mean, if we are going to deal in small sample sizes, then here is his line since the first three games: .290/.333/.419, 1 HR, 1 2B, 8 K in 33 PA (24.2% K/PA). coming into this season, i had little to no hope for Davidson, but i was doing the home town backing of give him a chance. i am still hoping for that, and i will admit, what ever or how much he can improve, is good. better than not having nothing there. i really like to reevaluate him come ASG and see how he is doing. he had to have some talent for Hahn to trade for him.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) What a huge difference going back to Nashville up 3-1, instead of tied 2-2. i needed some rest yesterday, i was snarky, but i go up and watch the gameveiw on a msn. i am dragging some major booty this morning. but i am happy hawks are up 3-1, carrying the momentum to nashville.
