QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) Johnson's not ready for that kind of pressure....Eatons going to have to fight his way out of this on his own. you are prob right, i just throwing things out there to, as someone said, change the lineup.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) True. He also had the ability and mental makeup to do it. This is why he is an HOF. Not all players have all of these attributes. But the HOF to really good ones do. and that is why i, most of the time, blame the players and not the coaches. look at Jose Valentin when he was with the sox, he was the leader of the team, minny in their new stadium were making fun of a player, he Jose V was up, he hit something like 6 straight foul pitches into their dugout. they were scrambling out of the dugout. the next series, they had something in front of both dugouts to so - call protect the players. Jose A is a silent leader, this team needs a vocal leader.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) I would disagree on three points. 1. if the Sox want im in the majors this years it has to be in the bullpen. He can only pitch about 160 innings this year. Which means if he is a full time starter anywhere he will be done on August. Fans will go crazy if he is pitching well and they shut him down ala Strasburg. 2. While the average pitcher needs a defined role for comfort and confidence, the really good ones do not. Examples such as Sale, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens and others go to the bullpen and rotation whether it be in the reagular season or post season. If Rodon is as good as people think he should be able to handle it. 3. This is a pitcher who has always had and will have command issues. He will be fine but it's not a surprise to see him struggle this way early in his career regardless of the situation. Randy Johnson, the ultimate player. pitch the opening game of the playoff, came in several days later to pitch in relief when his team had the lead and started 2 days later, this last part i think is true. he was putting everything on the line for the playoff. i even think as a joke he said that he would have played a position, if the team needed him to.

i went and looked again at the stat for this team thus far. way below avg. Jose A hits 4 hrs already, what would it been if there were men on base at those times. i don't know, someone mention change the line up. Eaton, hitting 170, MJ hitting what 240, well switch them. who else his hitting a little better than the others??

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) This. The reason we're scoring 2 runs per game is because literally all the starters (except Abreu) are performing below expectations, not because LaRoche has a platoon disadvantage. my opinion only .... ding... ding.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) Michael Mann films are brain dead? Ok, I need to get out of this thread. as someone said, films are subjective in the most part. i look at films differently than most, and maybe not as deep as others. if you needed to make a comment, then state it, don't go thru the big hoopla of your post. you wouldn't even needed to respond. it looked as you needed a stage to make your dramatic exit.

i am going to say, Scott Darling really impressed me, his composure and all. i liked his skill set on his first game as a Hawk and the fact, that the team was, at the time, shooting at his 6 hole in the shoot out. Happy for Seabrook as well. now here is my dislike for this one person, so i am asking, did he do ok? that person is Bickell.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) So when are you supposed to bring him in? You said to start an inning. Well he started the 7th and gave up 2 runs, so if they did that people would moan. Some say he should be a starter. Well, he would have been nervous then, and probably would have given up runs, and if he did start and gave up a couple of runs in the first inning, they obviously should then yank him instead of "leaving him out there to die" like the hindsighters claimed in the game thread, blowing out the bullpen, perhaps throwing a couple games away. They weren't throwimg the game away. They got him in with a L/L matchup and a guy hitting .150. Unfortunately he was so amped he couldn't throw a strike. It happens. This isn't a guy who needs to be babied. damn if you do, damn if you don't. the strategy was perfect and well thought out. as you said, he was too hype up to do anything good. well at least he got his first game out of the way. wish that it ended better.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 06:14 AM) Michael Mann is a great filmmaker too in my opinion. I love that he doesn't use soundstages and shoots everything on location, when you watch a movie like Heat or Collateral, you can feel how visceral the action scenes are. Love the editing in his movies too. re the bolded, as i said before, i am really that smart as you guys are, esp in talking about movies as you were last night. but i will truly recommend a movie called manhunter. it was the first Red Dragon and not with Anthony Hopkins. the main lead was a young Willam Peterson.

man oh man, i don't even know when i went to sleep, but when i did, they freaking score. way to go Hawks.

2 of the 4 teams that played today, went to over time.

QUOTE (Real @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 06:32 AM) I came to this conclusion 3 years ago, my blood pressure has been amazing since then and found a new sport to watch instead of baseball that isn't nearly as frustrating (Boxing) i really thought you were going to say wrestling.

i am not going to be making this about anyone but me, but i am wondering, was i wrong about this team? going into the season, i was sure, this team as assembled, would be doing better, much better. i think, looking at the roster on paper, they have the horses to get it done, but where is the problem?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 03:32 AM) There is nothing wrong with Michael Bay, the profit center...but not to be confused with cinematic artist/auteur/groundbreaking or pretty much any complimentary phrase. If you enjoy Bay so much, though...Furious 7 would be considered the greatest movie added to the cinematic canon, with Bad Boys 2 closely following it. you know the discussion of movies earlier was very interesting and maybe i am not smart enuf to see movies as you guys do. both sides of this discussion i am talking about. why can't movies be about enjoyment and remember everyone will have a different opinion on it.
-
i am a huge movie goer. i enjoy watching movies even some of the so called weak movies. now on the flip side, some of the great movies, i don't get into. saying that, all of the Zack Snyder films, i didn't like. i didn't get into it, the story line was, at least for me not strong. then again i wouldn't know what strong is. now for Micheal Bay, most of his movies i enjoyed. i wouldn't know if any had substance, but it was a brain dead movie for entertainment value. his movies is right there for me with Michael Mann movies. people will have opinions and i know my taste in movies is on a very broad spectrum. here is a question, no one like the Transformer first movie??? why??

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 12:35 AM) Honestly, those numbers are pretty terrible when you consider the bandbox that is his home park. I have zero faith he'll ever become a big leaguer let alone a starter. i know what you are saying, and i am respecting it. but i will still hold out a little hope...

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 11:17 PM) It was the White Sox for being "unlucky" not to have the opposing team's feed (and really, they should have TWO interns going with both home and away feeds instead of one going back and forth desperately in a 20-40 second window,...with a video supervisor making the final call as to what to tell the manger, problem easily solved)...because the Detroit broadcast clearly showed he was tagged on the foot, whereas Comcast angles were inconclusive and/or showed he missed the knee. then it is not RV fault, he did not hire the camera people and who ever is the sup in that booth, this falls on his lap and for whomever is over that person.

Rodon Joining Sox Tomorrow - Working out of Bullpen (Initially)

i really don't give a flying f*** of the f***ing sCrubs. who cares. -
can someone pls explain how this is falling on Robin's shoulder?? it was the camera person angle and fault, so why is Robin getting hanged out to dry.

this is a great topic today, i came back and want to my thoughts. i am going to use this mock and add to it. 1. Arizona - Brendan Rogers >>> i agree 2. Houston - Dillon Tate >>> Swanson or Tate 3. Colorado - Carson Fulmer >>> Tate or Fulmer 4. Texas - Chad Smith >>> Kirby or Fulmer or Buehler 5. Houston - Kyle Tucker >>> Tucker 6. Minnesota - ? Mike Nikorak >>> Kirby or Funkhouser 7. Boston - Alex Bregman >>> Nikorak or Funkhouser or Bergman 8, Sox >>>>> i still see Happ or Kirby, if not over slot with Newman. still will need to address the idea of a 3b backup.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) Much like the Bulls' medical staff pre Jen it was a huge f***up and a crisis necessitates change. At the same time however a competent manager of any company -- Robin included -- fixes all the mistakes with a good executive decision. That the buck didn't stop with Robin is disheartening but at least they realized what a huge f***up it was rather than burying their heads in the sand. That said, much like the Bulls and injuries (sorry Luol) the damage has already been done. i will grant and understand what you are saying, my point, this is totally unexcusable screw up. this is an error on the logistics side to baseball. the buck stop with the owners group, and their people who was place in charge of overseeing such minor details as this. any major corporations have what is call check and balance dept. this make the sox org looks really bad.... just imagine what i am saying, not the rant, but the imagine this portrays thru out the baseball world. laughing stocks is what i see. i am in such a pissy mode i made a mistake. correction added and i am leaving for the day.

i like to see how Davidson does come ASG. i hope for the best.

QUOTE (staxx @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) time to hire another hand or two rather than having one guy play whack a mole. perfect job for some interns. this is bull crap, the FO should have anticipated this as they should have anticipated and review any, old or new process and keep them up to date. in other words, audit the procedures yearly. this is a multi million dollar company and they don't have this process establish??

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) Yeah, they don't want to end up having to Strasburg him at the end of the season. for me, it doesn't matter if the sox had to shut him down early. the sox need to start winning, or else, there will be no reason for the end of the season.
