QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) Being an STH in the upper deck (front row 536), I personally think it's quite good. Really the only things that are bad are that it is set further back from the field than at the old ballpark (side effect of making sure everyone has good sightlines in the LD), and that the higher rows are kinda painful to get to. Value-wise it's fantastic. Our seat prices are half what they would be in a decent LD non-outfield location, and we have no one in front of us. with all the bull crap that the owners have received, esp from me this yr only, i was always a big backer of them, the owners always insisted on making sox park a family place.

i guess i screwed up, i think i should clarify my statement. as a team. Yanks and Det, sCrubs. as the fans of the team. Yanks, sCrubs and yeah i forgot about Bos, those fans seems to be entitled and they let anyone and every one know that they are entitled. that is the keyword, at least for me and my dislike - ENTITLED. Fvvck that shiite. the only team that can say they are entitled is the sox and there attitude, lets get it done.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) I've been to a couple games this season. When the crowd isn't going to be at least 25k, I don't think they even check for upper deck seats if you want to go to the lower level. i love this, i never thought i see posters talking about the attendance in the 25K. compared to the normal 10-15k.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Ditto. They're chumps and I love Lawrie's quotes. Sale in 7 career starts at home against KC: 4-3, 47 IP, 12 R, 50 H, 43 K, 7 BB in all seriousness, at least for me, it is sCrubs, Yanks, and Det. i love the idea of getting a new rival, it adds to the flavor of the game.

QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) On the 20tgh and am sure other games so far this year the lower level was not filled and on that day the upper deck occupants could have easily fit into the lower level seats. So on that particular day just allow the upper deck occupants to move down to the lower level. Everyone happy. oh that is funny, the owners said 1 time, they, the fans paid for certain seating and it is reserved. those who didn't pay, have to sit in the area they paid for. no freebees

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) I think the biggest problem with the White Sox upper deck, and the entrance you mentioned would have been better, but the complaining would have still occurred, is the fans were used to the upper deck at the old park, which was probably club level high at most. That started the snowball rolling, and it has never stopped, and I don't think ever will. The fact is many if not most upper deck seats pretty much suck in most parks in baseball. There are seats just as bad as the bad seats at USCF in each park. those were great seats. i love the old park, esp the food.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) The problem with our upper deck, at least initially when there were the extra nine rows at the top, was that the entrance was at the base of the deck, not somewhere in the middle. If you had seats towards the top of the deck, the combination of having to start at the bottom and walk all of those steps up at the rather steep incline of this particular deck was not ideal. It certainly wasn't good in any manner for anyone elderly or over weight. It just wasn't. So with that quickly came the oft-heard maligning of the upper deck, leading to a negative stigma that still has residual effect to this very day. you may be right, but then why get rid of those top 9 rows of seats. what was the reasoning. i was there one night when the park open up. my cuz and i shared our season tickets. so on the off night i went and brought upper deck. this person trip and fell roll down the stairs, i was looking backwards at the game and he took my feet from me. dislocated my shoulder. now for a point of ref. this was the night that someone had a gun and shot himself in the leg, behind home plate. the seating, as i said before, was a good idea in concept, but it didn't work in real life. now the rest of the park, its great....

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) I don't think you were wrong about this team. I just think it's taking them a bit of time to get their s*** together. But once they do I think we can all expect good things. This does not mean the Royals and Tigers are not going to be very tough to beat, but they both have flaws just like the Sox. Each has had their hot streak. Soon we'll have ours. and if this is the case, then the sox org spent too much time working with the young prospects at spring training. when they broke and headed north, this team should have been ready to play. they are getting paid a crap load of money, to play. this has nothing to do with hot streaks or not, it is lack of preparation. all those errors and miscues.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) I don't know about all the experts, but Law definitely doesn't think of Bregman as a SS. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/...sider-keith-law many thanks on a great find. just add great reading to an already assortments of scouting rpts. love the draft and all scouting rpts.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...ady-next-chance Rodon definitely doesn't seem in any way shaken or even slightly disturbed. Confidence, bordering on arrogance, but seems to be in a good way at the moment. that was what i saw when he was in college. that is what i like. "give me the damn ball and move"

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) And they have 6 guys hitting over .300. It won't last, and tonight the slide shall begin. Caulfield will be in tears. i like it, the vote of confidence and of course the thing about Caulifield.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) His walk rate is too low right now for 2...he'd have to be 7-9. a extremely good point, that mean no #1.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 01:26 PM) Yep. Law and McDaniel both highly value guys that can hit and definitely stay at SS. As they should. good point. i would like to consider 1 thing. the pro's who does this baseball evals, all think that Swanson, Bergman, and Newman can stay at ss, but they also can see them moving to another infield position if the team needs them there. the other point, they are saying Newman is a #2 rank prospect, ahead of Swanson and the pitchers, that is what i am confuse about.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 06:50 AM) They dumped Viciedo...which has been validated by the fact that nobody has picked him up, as of yet (maybe he's waiting for the right opportunity/injury to crop up). At any rate, there's a HUGE question mark in the minds of many whether Avisail Garcia's capable of being a SOLID #5 spot hitter, especially in terms of power and his swing mechanics (more line drives/doubles than homers). Who's the best candidate to fill in that RH power gap if Garcia doesn't become the player he's expected to become? One is Davidson, the other is Courtney Hawkins...with Trayce Thompson having an outside chance because he would bring "plus" defense to another corner position, which is sorely lacking since Garcia and Melky are both below average fielders and Melky's getting older by the day. And I don't think anyone in the organization views Tim Anderson as anything besides a 1-2 or 7-8-9 guy at the big league level initially...at least not until he matures into his body and starts putting up more power numbers up on the board. i think 1,2-7 would be ideal. maybe not a #2. if this team continues to improve and the prospects keeps replacing the vets, i can see a good value of keeping anderson in those idea spots

QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) My grandson who lives Chicago me at the park. We tailgated feasting on Buffalo wild wings and Red Stripe beer I am sure that tailgating at Wrigley would almost be impossible. At the game on this frigid night the game before us showed little excitement until the ninth inning when a sox rally almost proved too much the remainder of the crowd was exhuberant, sounding like a full stadium as the 4 run ninth was capped off my Melky Cabrerra's hit which came on a pulled in outfield. tail gating..... chi hands down. i wonder who or which team first stated the tail gating ??? down here in LA, lsu football and baseball does it up pretty good. this morning they were talking about a big party to watch the lsu baseball team . this doctor has a custom grill built with seating and all that crap.

Jose Abreu Speaks His Mind on Sox' Poor Play -- a 1st?
LDF replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
to me, this team was like a lost ship without any rudder wondering around. it needed a leader. -
i have been a fan for a long time, in the sox history, i have been to the old stadium and the new. i have been stl and several more. the present day sox park is great and the ownership with the sports authority has done all they can to continue to bring or make the sox park a fun, family orientate environment. now, i will complain about the steepness of the upperdeck. i haven't been to alot of parks, but the one i have been too, sox park is steeper. i understand the concept of building it and trying to bring the illusion of being on top of the game from the upper deck. but it is too steep. there is nothing that can be done about it now.

Jose Abreu Speaks His Mind on Sox' Poor Play -- a 1st?
LDF replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
in my simple mind, maybe, just maybe this team needed the leader to step forward. that one person who will be the face, the voice the personality of this team to step up. i like it. it was always understood, who that leader is, but it is reassuring that Jose A step forward and took the reins. -
and cle can claimed the reverse. it was cold wx and the sox hit 13, wait until it is warm and cle pitchers will do better.

QUOTE (WBWSF @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:42 PM) Bad teams + bad stadium location + bad upper deck= bad attendance. that location is always going to kill the sox.

QUOTE (lord chas @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) No chance for only an average of 18k. Once school gets out and it finally warms up we should see 30k quite often it will be great, but i would be happy for the low 20 k's. i take the improvement in small dosage.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) Start paying attention to Zach Collins at Miami, and Cavan Biggio at ND. Both those guys are going to lead the college class next year. i remember Biggio, i think he was mention in the beginning of fangraph, b/c of his father. same with JJ Schwartz, his father played a 1 1/2 for the sox. his son is a great hitter and is in the top 2 or 3 in hrs for college. he is a freshman, cat/dh. will get drafted in 2 yrs. he should still be in the top 5, imo. a great hitter.
