the sox should just go there and sign him. show the baseball bosses that the sox will not be held for ransom. that will have a greater impact and send a msg.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 07:55 PM) You're absolutely right. Stupid late night sleep deprived daddy brain statement. the joy of having a healthy new born. congrats Big Daddy.

so if the Sox are still looking to trade Alexei, which team are still in the mix. Yanks and Reds comes to mind.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 01:28 AM) I heard that. I also have heard Anderson and Semien for Shark. as i said in another post, this trade is something that KW would have agreed to.

QUOTE (Real @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 02:24 AM) i think you're undervaluing his bat in the lineup undervaluing, overvaluing it doesn't matter, btw i agree with you. this trade proposal is something that KW would have agreed to.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:56 PM) Dammit! Was hoping to wake up and see this deal be done and for the thread title to be changed to "White Sox acquire Jeff Samardizja"! I blame you guys. psstt .... um Hahn walked away from the table. to be continue during the next sets of meeting.

QUOTE (BigFinn @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) To plum the depths of the mind of Billy Beane: 1. Tim Anderson can be moved off shortstop. 2. Anderson could stick at short, and the new A's (formerly Jay's) wunderkind Franklin Barreto can move to second or centerfield as per this fangraphs scouting report 3. If Billy Beane wants to switch horses, he can turn around and peddle Anderson or Barreto for whatever he needs. To plum the depths of Rick Hahn: He's just doing his due diligence to find the going rate for Alexei Ramirez. The A's are losing their starting shortstop (Jed Lowrie) to free agency, and the Sox have a bona fide shortstop (Alexei Ramirez) who should bring a king's ransom in return. Talks with the Dodgers seem to start with their outfield prospect Joc Peterson. Talks with the Mets seem to center around pitching prospect Noah Snydergaard. Hahn could open negotiations with Billy Beane this way: "How much can I get for Alexei. How's about Jeff Samardzija and a prospect like say outfielder Dalton Pompey." Beane could then retort: "Allow me to retort. If you want Pompey, I get Tim Anderson." Hahn (keeping his cool) will then respond "Thanks, BB. I'll get back to you at the Winter Meetings." The Sox finally have a trading chip that some desperate teams want, and Rick Hahn knows it. Why night ask for the moon (or for you Betty Davis fans out there) or at least the stars. i like it. very good. you need to post more. but the bolded is the main answer.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) That process will keep the sox a mediocre team. Eventually you will need to acquire proven players. yes i agree with you except not at the expense of emptying the farm system. there are other options such as free agency.
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 08:48 AM) Are you referring to Daniel Robertson? Daniel Robertson is #1 ranked in their system and is 20 yrs old. Franklin Barreto who was part of a trade a couple of days ago, slid in the #3 slot and is 18 yrs old.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 01:01 AM) He used to now he's in Hawaii. i wonder if he will take in fellow soxtalk posters who wants to visit. oops, not him the Island.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:58 AM) Mike Leake, Mat Latos, Johnny Cueto and Alfredo Simon . Chapman in 2 years. Yes 4 Reds starters entering FA next year. many thanks.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:53 AM) I don't think Semien is ranked any higher of a prospect than Matt Davidson was last year, and I would have to think Samardzjia is worth more than Addison Reed on the trade market. Subtract for only one year of control. I would much prefer the Sox send Semien than Anderson, unless they have determined Anderson is not going to be a SS. don't get me wrong, i appreciate that you made a suggestion. here is my thought, right now, and i hope i am wrong, but i am seeing posters who are fixated on this trade. all last wk the sox brass was playing hard ball with several teams. what has change? getting a sp who may not sign a extension. Beane who may not allow that window to be open, b/c as someone posted, Beane doesn't want the sox to be in a position to make this trade in their favor. lastly Beane wants better prospect in rtn.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:50 AM) All you have to do is go to a Sox game in Anaheim to see a ton of Sox fans out here. you may even run into Hi8i. something like that. he lives from out there.

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:45 AM) I think "Bucket Of Suck" mentioned Cinci being a team that Hahn has had constant contact with. Bailey and Latos? Who's available? Leake. plus the Cuban closer, Chapman i think. they need some form of salary relief. i was reading where they were saying that a trade for 1 of there pitchers plus minor league prospect for SS and 2 or 3 tier sp prospect, will do.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:39 AM) I don't like him, so to be honest, my opinion on what is reasonable is probably not reasonable. Bit Semien and a couple of A ball guys in the 15-25 range seems fair to me. no offense, but it is too much.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) Marlins number 1? They want to trade an injured Fernandez? Dude is under control 5 more years, tj or not. they'll get a haul. you are right, i hate the sox trading with the marlins, the marlins always seems to get the best from the sox. then again it may be my imagination.
-
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:35 AM) So what's a reasonable trade for Samardzija, operation on the assumption that he won't sign an extension? Semien and what other 2 prospects? the surprise team which the sox fans haven't heard from is Cincy. they have 3 sp whose contract is up what next yr. Cincy is maybe hoping to flip one of that contract and with the savings use to sign of the other 2 sp. who knows, that is what i read yesterday. things are changing fast.

Samardzija wants back in Chicago after 2015 Season?
LDF replied to rowand's rowdies's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:32 PM) If that's where the trade would start, then I would hope Hahn would hang up the phone laughing. Maybe send them Alexei, but Semien AND Anderson AND more? No thank you. more of a solid question, only Hahn will be able to answer. when is it too much to sacrifice for this trade to happen. -
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:15 PM) I'm also very happy that we are trying to build a very strong rotation. Samardzija at the top of our rotation would arguably give us the best rotation in the AL central. Now, the return cost is the immediate question. Are we at the point in the organization to start dealing away top prospects? To answer that question, I would say no. This then brings me to tradable veterans. I would consider trading Alexei for him under a few conditions: 1) Billy Beane gives the Sox and Samardzija a 24 hour window for a contract extension. I would love to see a 4 year extension. 2) The Sox not only acquire Shark which would be a risky 1 year rental, but they also acquire a top prospect in return for Alexei. Let's face it, Beane would later flip Alexei for top prospects after the 2015 season. Fact of the matter is this... Sale, Samardzija, Quintana would be a Sick trio!!! so are you saying Alexei plus prospect for Jeff S?? because that is all i have been hearing.
-
I am extremely happy on many fronts, which i will address. First, this should show any Sox brass who has doubt of the Sox fans, the Fans have been craving a winner, they should rethink their approach this offseason. The Sox should swallow the bullet and spend a little more, they will get that back in many different ways. Second, they should rethink the possibility of getting Jeff S from Oak. The main reason would be cost. the cost of a new contract, guess estimate (5 yr-20mil) the prospects needed to make this happen. Alexei plus the sox A+ prospects. The price is too steep. go and sign a FA or look at another team. Loosing the main A+ prospects is costly. Now if they expanded their other players involve, maybe. I just don't like it. There are more, but without knowing the full extent of the talk, and package, it is hard to address. I say lets not fixated on the idea of a trade and Jeff S. now the challenge, i want some real feedback. some real hardcore suggestion. even if to put my head up my arse. I want to really think about it.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 07:10 PM) Adams and Rodon can't be traded this off season anyway. Correct, since thy were from this past draft? unless it is a PTBNL

QUOTE (spiderman @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) Would be strange for the White Sox to give up prospects for a guy who wants 110 million + on a new deal. Would the Sox really move 2 of their better prospects for a 1 year rental assuming he wants to become a free agent? also depends on the package being offered.
-
someone tweeted about the contract of Jeff or something like that. i don't know, what if the sox is being given an opportunity to work out a contract for Jeff? either way, getting a SS of Alexei substantial worth to a team who wants to compete while holding down the position for their young talent. Billy Beane wants that.

nice break down, good reading. i was reading on mlb rumors and their breakdown of the trade. they are calling the winner to Tor, for getting that impact player. while it is true of the impact player, mostly his bat, i still think it is a win for Oak. they, Oak acquired player to fill holes left by last yr trades. they managed to acquire a future SS, a really good RP and a nice looking SP. the last player is a filler to hold down the position until their prospects in the minors comes on up. Oak has a really nice set of positional players there. their top 5 prospects are positional players, they do need more pitchers. maybe the impact bat does mean something, however looking at the bigger picture, i am leaning toward Oak. side note, Oak has 2 top 11 player for every position of 1, 2, 3 and ss. a nice collection

this is a head scratcher. i think it must be a minor league move.
