Maybe Colon and Big Frank if he returns to form. Personally I don't care as long as they win the division. With so many teams it's harder to make the All Stars than it used to be.
-
He is so much bigger than he was in 86 when he came to Pittsburgh. He still has the same surly miserable personality.
-
I think McGwire, Sosa and Bonds all have had their own designer drug cocktails made for them, kind of like the East German Olympians in the 70's and 80's. If I'm wrong I apologize to the three gentlemen in advance but I really don't think I'm wrong here.

As are most posters on this board SI..... but backing the President in Iraq means you're flaming Right to the liberals on this board. Amen.
-
That's what I'm saying, Frank hasn't used them but others have.
-
It's not a stretch, it's the kind of contortion that would make a Yoga master proud.

Way back in the day my friends saved me and I saved some of them from serious injury during some haaard partyin'. Here's to good friends.

20% which it seems is about as low as you can get on this "test".

I know a guy who thinks O'Reilly is a "closet liberal" because of his support of liberal Senator Patty Murray after she made remarks critical of Bush administration policy. He didn't support her remarks just her right to say them and defended her against charges of "treason". O'Reilly has also been a critic of the "religious right" and has gone on the air defending the right of gays to adopt children, which also angered this man. O'Reilly seems to be number one on the liberal s*** list at the moment. I like the guy and think he has more depth and variety to his philosophy than he is given credit for. He is very abrasive, does not suffer fools gladly and does step over the line at times in my opinion with guests who oppose him. Like I have said many times partisanship is the thing and everybody demonizes everyone else depending on their ideology. I am obviously not a liberal but do read and respect a number of liberal commentators. Politics is more complicated than appears on the surface. Dennis Kucinich and Zell Miller are both Democrats but they are as different as night and day IMO. Similarly Lincoln Chafee and John Ashcroft are both Republicans but they are hardly ideological soul brothers. I love the give and take of real debate but there is so little of it today. Oh well, CW go back to dissing O'Reilly. I don't have quite the same take on him as you, even allowing for our obvious political differences. Everybodys spins today, it has been elevated to a high "art" by both sides of the political aisle.

The fates have not been kind to the big four on that 2000 Sox staff.
-
Hopefully he'll be able to take what he knows and make himself a star. We need this guy to come up big. I really like Rowand but he doesn't have the talent to be a starter IMO. Rios is not the answer either. Both of them are spare outfielders. We need a real one.

Bonds hit bomb number 5 in the 1st already tonight. This guy gets better the older he gets. If you get a chance check out my post in the Sammee vs Frank thread. I was specifically thinking about Bonds among others.
-
Maybe I'm naive but I think Frank's accomplishments have been made without the benefit of supplements. Some day it's going to come out who used what in the last decade or so. Many reputations will be tarnished if not ruined altogether.

Some of us older posters actually saw Wally Backman play ball and heard him interviewed so we have an idea what he's like as a person and remember how he played the game. A number of posters here are really on top of the minor league scene and keep folks like me informed about the farm system. So it is possible to get a reasonable opinion of Backman and compare it to the mind numbing Jerry Manuel who seems to regress every year. Honestly I just don't see him as a championship caliber manager compared to say Al Lopez or Tony La Russa. He's becoming more and more like Gene Lamont in 95 with us and during his time with the Pirates. I really think this is as good a year as ever for the White Sox to seize the moment. Jerry Manuel walks, talks and manages like he's on medication.

There are too many errors and stretches in this long laborious article to mention. It's laughable because the one who posted this would have criticized Bush if he had been proactive before 9/11. 9/11 is a complex and multi layered failure of many government agencies and stretches back way way before the Bush II administration. I mean lets get real here. The implication seems to be that Bush failed to act. Yet this poster is vicious in criticizing Bush for acting aggressively now. If I handed a report like this to a client I'd expect him or her to ask for their money back. This "report" gets a D for content and an A for imagination. The author should try to write a novel. I know it may be shocking to some but most "conspiracy" theories while they may excite and get the blood to rush just do not hold up in the light of day. Out of respect for the people who died so suddenly and horribly that day why disseminate junk like this that the National Inquirerer wouldn't touch. Please don't take a job as a researcher or investigator. Why does this "Twilight Zone" type posting go virtually unchallenged????

Backman is going to be a good manager when he finally gets his chance. I feel conflicted here. I'd really like to see Wally stick with us, but I want the Sox to come up big this year. I was a supporter of JM for a long time, but no longer care all that much for him. A typical fickle fan I suppose.

You're right about Rios in the field. Lots of folks here like to bash CLee's fielding or lack there of. Take my word for it Rios is no gazelle out there.
-
Somebody tell why Illinois is the perennial underachiever in NCAA Basketball. 0 NCAA Championships.
-
I wasn't too thrilled when the Sox got Rios. He was a major disappointment here in Pittsburgh. Maybe his knee feels better now and he is ready to roll. It's important for all our "up the middle" positions to be solid.
-
Extremely personal too. A real message board demon. People bash one another here at times but I think all differences aside we're all Sox fans first and foremost. Folks have opinions but nobody has it in for anybody else, I don't think. Like I said this is it for me to get my White Sox fix.
-
Thank you in any and every language spoken on earth. I don't even lurk on the MLB board anymore. I lurk but no longer post on WSI. Those folks that "visited" us recently were an interesting bunch but one or two spoiled things. Come on! Leave HSC the hell alone. This is all I've got left and I would like to stay.
-
Idiot cub fans trolls were one reason I quit the MLB Board. I don't want to give them a reason to come here. Let them stay in their own playpen.
-
We just don't have that non stop publicity making machine that the cute adorable ones on the north side do. Who cares. As long as we win the division let them all talk about the big bad White Sox.
-
At my age I shouldn't let message boards get to me in any way shape or form. All I have to say for those of you that are young and idealistic and can't understand all this pain and suffering in the world don't look for a miracle or a burning bush or something like that. But if you're patient and persistent you will find some answers. CW for whatever its worth I'm with you on this one. Keep praying according to the dictates of your heart and mind.

Colon did OK today. I'm cautiously optimistic. Only Garland has been a complete dud so far among the starters
