I remember when they were by far the hottest ticket in town. Now they are pitiful. Anyone could have seen that Fleury was a train wreck waiting to happen.
-
Please somebody tell me what is wrong with PK? He looks lost at the plate. One good swing against German and none against whoever this is in the ninth.

Sensational running catch by CLee!
-
I agree. DJ was much more relaxed and effective with Rooney. They'd make a great team.
-
Thanks for the commentary cw. Rooney and Farmer didn't come in good on my radio until the 9th.

You're right no such thing as a "routine" fly ball with him.

Carlos has a friend on the board. I believe he's gonna hit.

Keep it coming Gash. This beats the hell out of fighting over politics.

This was, by far, the best one. :fyou Lawyers I like that one too. What is the line in Shakespeare "First we kill all the lawyers." Just to show you what a great sense of humor we (me and mine) have I'm going to show that to my son who is about to start law school. I know he'll get a kick out of it. I also liked the guy who called his wife "Cathy" when her name was Susan. I once new a guy who put Clinton to shame he had so many lady friends. I asked how he managed to avoid that very mistake. He told me he called them all, his wife and his many girlfriends "babe" "baby" or "honey".

They must be really desperate for warm bodies.

Pittsburgh owed us a favor after the Ritchie fiasco.

I read somewhere that the odds were calculated to be in excess of 10000 to 1 for neither team to win a WS since 1917.
-
They've had our number but good the last two years. A couple of sweeps early in the year could set them back on their heels. We need to change their thinking. They take us for granted and I'd really like to shut their catcher up.

I became a Sox fan in the summer of 57 at the ripe old age of 6. The Sox shot out of the gate that year but faded late. I still remember a crucial three game series in Aug of 57 where the Sox were swept by the hated Yanks. I was six getting ready to go to the second grade and I still remember how bad I felt. After the Sox lost the WS in 59 I remember thinking that they would be back for many more. Instead they traded their farm system for short term help. There were near misses in 64 and 67 one year hits like 72 and 77 with no follow up, a fine 83 team that ran into the tail end of the Oriole era and more, much more. When the Sox shocked the baseball world in 00 I thought it was the beginning of a long run like the go go era of 51-67. This is an important year. It could be, it should be a real good year. In the mean time if I feel like venting let me. I've earned it. But hey, you younger more optimistic fans here at Soxnet, don't go away mad. Here's to ya. Just try to understand where some of us are coming from.

But Bush is a Nazi and Blair is a poodle for wanting to stop this.

Great post! You beat me to the punch and said it better than I would have. It's tough being a Sox fan, but I'll take us over you know who's fans any day. Damn these new toys are so much fun even for a relatively old fart like me.

Great article. I'm not an expert on the British press but isn't the Guardian left leaning? From the article "But there are times when peace MUST BE MADE before it can be kept; and Europe as a whole has seen such moments as none of its business, relying on the US, and then usually blaming it for carrying the can." Amen to that. I'm not a clairvoyant but it is becoming more and more apparent to me that Blair and Bush are going to come out looking much better on this than their rigid hidebound opponents on the left.

and what can we learn from all of that?????? Nothing probably... I am just somewhat of a numbers person. I work in traders and one thing we really look at is the trends. As for baseball, I guess it is just conversation fodder. So am I. If you ever want to bore people to tears just start quoting the latest demographical data that you find oh so interesting. People roll their eyes at me if they don't leave the room altogether. Mostly I've learned my lesson.

Take heart, it can't last. They're going to break out of it. The weather is cold and so are their bats.

Carl Prine of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review was one of the first if not the first American reporter to break this story. I was going to post this a couple of days ago but figured what the hell, everybody has their mind made up here. Since baggs when ahead and posted his link here is Prine's story.

If the team continues to tank it won't be long before there are only 5-6000 a nite at the Jake. The novelty has worn off.

Correct if I'm wrong someone but I think he has no use for KW, and seemed to insinuate that KW was guilty in "shouldergate". Mike Sirotka was my favorite starter on that 2000 team and I thought he had a real good shot at a solid career. Too bad.
-
He's just been to inconsistent to suit me. At times his stuff looks like Brando Fan described in the beginning, but overall he's just not been dependable. If he could just be a solid 3 this year it would really help our chances for the post season. How is Wrights elbow coming along by the way?

It would be a pleasure to debate folks like you. Things are so hideously angry and polarized on message boards. I am not a liberal but have quoted and referred to such liberals as Thomas L Friedman, David Broder, Michael Kinsley, EJ Dionne and others when I thought they have made a good point. I don't see anything resembling balance on this board. Bush is a Nazi, conservatives are apes, and if we could just elect a Kucinich or a Dean then it would be heaven on earth. How is that a framework for intelligent debate? I am provisionally for this war. When it is over, I want changes in our foreign policy and I want a switch to hydrogen and/or hybrid vehicles as soon as possible. I also want the Bush administration to do what is possible to get our economy on a real growth track like it was in the 50's and 60's. Bush has got to know that his dad had the highest approval rating ever but still lost his reelection bid mostly due to the economy. Anyway, before I ramble any further it's good to see your input. We may have some disagreements but you bring a lot of sense and decorum to this message board.

At this point he is not even close to resembling a major league pitcher. His fast ball isn't fast his curve hangs and his ERA shows it. Chuck Noll the old Steeler coach used to talk about it being time for a particular athlete to "get on with the rest of his life". I think it may be that time for Parque.
