    Happy B-day

I'm always sending people "belated" birthday cards so a belated one to you. Don't forget no beer until next year.
  3. I wanted to think that Koch would be the flame throwing closer for us. It's starting to look like you called this one right. i was really concerned about him that is why i was agruing the point of the trade. but this cotts kid may make the trade a plus. Sure hope so. Cotts is supposed to have great movement on his pitches. Absolutely have to salvage this trade one way or another.

  5. He's Mensa. And he does the NY Times and USA Today puzzels every day. Finishes them in about an hour. Thanks for the confirmation.
  6. I heard he is actually quite bright and likes to do difficult crossword puzzles. That true Steff?
  7. I wanted so badly to discuss this with my dear friend JB, a decorated Viet Nam combat veteran. I wonder what he would have made of this latest rewriting of the war he reluctantly but valiantly fought in. I can't ask him about that or anything else since he died in 1999 of the long term effects of Agent Orange. Never once complained about it while it slowly destroyed his health. He was 48 when he died, looked 30 or more years older. I would have been bitter and angry beyond belief but JB was a much better guy than I'll ever be. He handled it like the classy champion he was. For him and others I knew who fought in Viet Nam this original post offends me. I didn't fight in this war so I guess I have no right. I'm not even sure JB would agree with me. I know he would find fault with some of the history here. He knew many scorned him and his combat buddies and that often this was done to their faces. Ther rewriting of history would amuse him but I'm not sure he would share my anger. He might have told me to lighten up and get us both another beer. I just wish I could ask him.

    Well i Finally did it

I wrote a couple of them during the last baseball season. I wasn't very good at it, so I went back to what I was good at, posting! thats me too..i wrote a few articles early last year about todd ritchie...one i thought was pretty good and the other 2 or 3 i wrote i thought were substandard for this site...so i too went back to what i do best..pissing off carlos lee fans I really liked your article about the origin of the Sox being in Sioux Falls and not St Paul like many of us thought. I'm not one of the more prominent posters here but I've been around a long time and it is interesting how this place has evolved the last couple years.
  9. I was on the road all day. I take it the Sox lost and that Buehrle got hammered. He's a finesse control guy who really worries me on his off days. He looks so ordinary and hittable. He usually bounces back after a real bad outing.
  10. Cole Porter is my favorite songwriter.
  11. I love complete games. Way to go Barrrrtooolo! Couldn't hear a damn thing on my radio tonite. Thank you very much everybody.
  12. I just can't get Rooney and Farmer on my radio tonite.
  13. Who hasn't run from the cops sometime in their life?? I had a friend in high school who I shall call Freddie, as in Freddie Kreuger. This guy was shall we say a little unbalanced. One night a bunch of us were drinking beer in the woods. I walked home with Freddie. Suddenly he bolted ahead of me, picked up a brick and hurled it through someones window. I looked at him and said "WTF Freddie" and he just replied "the window was looking at me." I told you he was whacked. Anyway no sooner were the words out of his mouth when who pulls up but an unmarked plainclothes car. One cop chases me the other Freddie. We both managed to get away. The next day I threatened to beat Freddie to death with a baseball bat. He just laughed. Freddie had the nicest most normal parents you'd ever want to meet. His mom reminded me of June Cleaver on Leave it to Beaver. One time me and my friend JB stopped by to see Freddie at his house. Freddie's mom greeted us and said Freddie was upstairs in his room. I was walking behind JB. Just as he was entering the room Freddie who was lying in bed pulled a gun out from under his pillow and fired a shot into the wall. "Hi Boys" he said and then laughed. His mom called up to him and asked what the hell was going on. "Nothing mom, just a firecracker" he said in his best Anthony Perkins imitation. Another time the three of us were just hanging out on the street. Next thing I know Freddie has shattered the back windshield of Mr Davis' Chevy. You know who the cops arrested. Me and friend JB!!! We spent a nite in a juvenile facility until things got straightened out. The thing is everybodys parents liked Freddie, he was such a con artist. The typical response was "why don't you spend more time with that nice boy Freddie. He's such a gentleman." I haven't seen Freddie since the mid 80's. I hear he's just as wacky as ever. So you see I was a nice young kid just kept some questionable company .
  14. I'm leaving this alone because I don't want to ruin my good reputation and high popularity here at Soxnet. I am looking forward to more of you fessing up on this thread.
  15. The image of the White Sox, their fans, the south side is really in the tank. When I talk to Pirate fans where I live and mention my time in Chicago, folks usually want to know about Wrigley. It's thought of as some kind of shrine and to go there would be sort of like a religious pilgramage. Hardly anyone wants to go see the Sox. Many are sure they will get hurt inside the park or in the immediate vicinity. You can quote crime statistics until you are blue in the face, ( there is more crime of all kinds in the immediate vicinity of Wrigley than there is at our park ) people have their preconceived notions and you can't shake them out of it. The fact that this is a National League city only partly explains this. The only solution I see is number one there be no more incidents at the Cell and number two we start being consistent winners year in and year out.
  16. Ya what the hell is wrong with some people these days? Life's a struggle even in the best of times. You gotta have a little fun now and then. So many are such "amateurs" these days. I don't want so much security that going to a game will be an ordeal like it is to fly now.

    CLee

Maybe I should just shut up but I had such a lousy day that I'm in a damn good mood. Besides that the Sox won and took another series. Nobody ran on the field today, did they?? Anyway 1. to everyone at Soxnet be you of the left right or no wing at all. 2. He frustrates me a lot but count me a fan of CLee. I keep hoping he'll hit like Manny Ramirez and play LF like Yaz. Besides he's been a "cubkiller" and that goes a long way in my book. 3. Can't stand rap. Love Jazz and blues. Wish Muddy Waters was still around. He was quite a Sox fan you know. Hey if you like rap choices in music and the arts are all very personal ones. 4. I'm a big Brando fan, Marlon not Sal ( that was a good one CW ) "The Wild One" and "On the Waterfront" are my two favorites. 5. Someone near and dear to me, who happens to be a die hard scrubs fan called me today to heckle me about the "fan" who went after umpire Laz Diaz. I had to be the one to break the news to him that the jerk is a scrubs fan. 6. I had a real lousy day but the Sox won and CLee hit a grand slam!! It's a long season, so far so good.
  18. Folks are looking for something positive, well I am positively high on our pitching coach.
  19. Only 3,000 were Cub fans though. Just ask Lee Elia I would love to hear that famous 1983 tirade again!!
  20. Like I said in my post I do hear you Mathew. Perhaps Cooper can get to him to use some off speed stuff now and then so guys like Sweeney won't be sitting on the dead red fastball. I still want to give him a little more time, he has had some success.
  21. Zach and CW I agree. Fix it and do it fast. Whoever or whatever is doing this stuff the out of town perception is that Sox fans are dumbass drunken trailer park trash and Sox management doesn't care to spend enough on security. At least that is what many are saying in my out of town locale. I do my best to provide a little balance but I'm only one guy.
  22. Foulke was one of my favorite Sox players of recent vintage. I didn't like the way he was handled, especially last year. Like I have said on numerous occasions all closers even the biggest studs sometimes blow big games. Even the great Mariano Rivera. Still, after all that transpired Keith wanted and needed a change of scene. Those of you who are critical of Koch, calling him a one pitch wonder, etc.,etc I hear ya. But please, it's a little early to give up on the guy. He's blown two saves so far. If he can keep it in the 5-7 range for the season and have 40+ saves he'll be OK in my book. Also, it is not unusual for flame throwers to have lower than normal velocity at the beginning of the year. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on Koch just yet. I'm worried but not panicked.
  23. I don't live in Chicago anymore but I'm hearing that the fan that attacked the ump attended the Cubs game earlier in the day. He must have been well oiled by the 8th inning of the Sox game. Can anybody in Chi confirm if this is true or not??
