    Song Meaning

I'm going with something about Jesus, getting saved and how your life is never the same afterwards. Of course this interpretation is biased by the fact that this is sung by a Christian band...

    Lemon Law

So, I bought a new-ish (2003--warranty still good) Taurus this past march. Since then I have taken it to the dealer to be fixed 6 or 7 times because it leaks and I will sometimes have an inch or more of standing water in my car after it rains. I have to take it AGAIN because when I can back from vacay there was a good 1.25 inches on the floor... I bought it in Illinois, but it has since been re-titled, liscensed, etc out in NY State since I've moved out there. So, my question is what do I do? Anyone know where to start?

    Mother

I'm not sure, I'm not a clinician (thank goodness)--but I think that the division into the three sub-sets is more recent. I think that this distinction and levels of the disease probably is following the developments in tracking neurochemistry and maybe better medical records and follow ups with moms. I first heard about it about 3 years ago (I think) and it was new in the psychology field--and was not that known or accepted by people out of the field...

It is a real diagnosis. There's three levels of postpartum-- 1.) Baby Blues (can't recall real psych term--been a while since abnormal) 2.) Postpartum Depression 3.) Postpartum Psychosis The woman in Texas who murdered her children because of the voice of God (Yates?) was a case of psychosis not just depression. But it has all the symptoms of psychosis that you might see in an episode of, like, Schizophrenia or severe depression (which can cross into psychosis). But, yeah, real phenomenon. They're still working on the neurological underpinnings, but I believe it's the two neurotransmitters plus odd levels of hormones they're focusing on....
  14. Not to be a b****--but how good were the stats BEFORE we arrived? Where they accurate? Are they really worse nurished now or do we just have a better record now?

Decent website on postpartum... I do tend to agree with diagnosis of reduced culpability in cases of postpartum. This isn't a case of the baby blues when this happens, it can be full out Schizophrenia style disorder. I think there's some decent research out there too on the neurological effects that postpartum is related to--I think it's something like an excessively low level of dopamine/serotonin. Anyway, it does have some physiological stuff too, so it's not just a concoction of defense lawyers.

Sounds more like post-partum psychosis to me. It will be interesting to hear the psychiatrists testimony.
  17. The trib is reporting the guy used an SKS semi-automatic military rifle. My dad doesn't hunt much any more so I'm a bit out of the loop--but isn't that a little bit of overkill?

    Romans

Then, I would just like to point out that what the title of this thread implies: Romans. In my opinion Paul is talking about the ritualistic sexual/plain old sexual precedent that was set forth in the Ancient Greek (and later adopted by the Romans). This ritualistic sex between men was strongly associated with the pagan gods--who believed that love between two men was the highest of all (see Plato's Symposium for example). This type of sexual act bears nothing in common with what we now deam homosexuality (which, you certainly know is a modern term). I only agrue that here these sexual acts are tied as strongly to pagan tradition (and not relationships) as the food that Paul forbids Christians to eat if sacrificied to pagan gods.

If I thought you would listen I would maken an intelligent well thought out reply. Since you don't care about any views that aren't your own I see no point in attempting a dialogue.
  21. My lungs! :rolly No More Christmas Candles? Church Air Poses Risk Add to My Yahoo! Oddly Enough - Reuters AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - A visit to church may be good for the soul but not so good for the lungs, a new study shows. Scientists from Maastricht University found that burning candles and incense in church can release dangerous levels of potentially carcinogenic particles, according to research published this week in the European Respiratory Journal. "After a day of candle burning we found about 20 times as much as by a busy road," Theo de Kok, the author of the study, told Reuters. "These levels were so unbelievably high we thought we should report it to the public." The air at a Maastricht basilica contained 20 times the European Union (news - web sites) limit of PM10 particles after a simulated mass ceremony. Tiny PM10 particles can be inhaled and are therefore a potential hazard. The scientists also found high levels of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as well as some unknown types of free radicals released from burning candles and incense. Free radical atoms act as starters and promoters of cancer tumors. "The exposures are worrisome, not so much for the occasional church-goer, but priests, choirs and other people working in churches may have significant exposure," he said. De Kok said priests at the church in Maastricht had tried to improve ventilation after the study. He also noted some churches had stopped using real candles to protect artwork and delicate interiors. "It could be an alternative to use fewer candles, better candles, use electric candles or improve ventilation," he said. De Kok called for research into whether priests, monks and others who work in churches were more prone to lung disease. "Particle pollution, whether it be in an outdoor or indoor environment, can be a danger to lung health and cause respiratory diseases such as emphysema and bronchitis," said Richard Russell of the British Thoracic Society (BTS).
