  1. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) Brian and I are looking at adopting a dog. We have two picked out - one already has an application on him and the other is still available. The one that is available looks identical to the dog that Brian grew up with - must be a sign. I've never had a dog before, but always wanted one. We would have to go through the application process and then if we meet approval on that, we have to have a home inspection so we are still a ways off. The dog is a Border Collie, Belgian Shepherd Dog and Sheepdog Mix. Here is what he looks like: Too cute! Good luck with it! Dogs are the best.
  2. 1.) I applied to 9 colleges (Knox, IL Wesleyan, Susquehanna, University of Chicago, Valpo, North Park, Beloit College, Gustavus Adulphus, and St Olaf College) and got into all 9. I chose St. Olaf (turning down 2 full rides). 2.) I once broke a weight bearing bone in my ankle, but didn't find out until years later when I got an unrelated X-ray. 3.) My favorite animal ever was a walrus named Olga at the Brookfield Zoo. 4.) I was the only student on my college's Committee on the Status of Women for two years. 5.) I have lived in 3 states, 3 countries, and been on 4 continents.
  3. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) lol - f*** 'em is how I feel. Actually I feel really insulted that the entire office was invited and I was left behind. I know who was behind it too, b****. If I had a Christmas party, I'd invite you Queen. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) Grammar question for Soxy... what's the proper usage for the possessive? "That's PA's Wife's car" that looks weird, is it right? It looks weird, but that's probably how I would write it, sorry, don't know the answer on that one.
  4. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) Now that's a reason not to have sex with strangers.... Link and I'd like to say that 1 in 1000 is a horrifying number. How does it work? What do you mean how does it work? They have two uteruses. One of my friends had the condition, she had two cervixes, too (one vaginal canal). But she had to have surgery because it was exceedingly painful (two menstruations).
  5. I hope you're joking, because I actually thought that was kind of funny. . .
  6. As a legal resident of New York State, I would just like to say that "assholes Long Islanders" is a redundant phrase.
  7. I am so excited. I hope it does come out in the summer because I'll have time to read it uninterrupted.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Maybe someone could help me get a restraining order for Christmas Sounds like you might need more than one. . . I would give Rex Bea Arthur's hand in marriage. . .
  9. I finished my shopping in October, and everything has been wrapped since mid-november. I have a minor bout of the stomache flu the past few days, but other than that I'm in the holiday spirit. Today I have to go shopping and finish up my dad's Christmas shopping (which he started on Monday).
  10. Isn't she some kind of genius? I thought she had left hollywood to be in academia?
  11. My sister teaches in that district and she said that now all the salad dressing (etc) has to come in individual packets. Ick, ick, ick.
  12. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 18, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) or Wegman's anything Preach it my East Coast Friend.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) Meh, you can have it. I am the only one who is not on the JJ's bandwagon? Give me a deli sandwich anyday for my money. Just now saw this, but I agree Mike, Jimmy Johns is gross. If I'm going to pay for a sandwich, it's going to be a Wegman's sub. Mmmmmm.
  14. Actually, this reminds me of the Warrior Christ depicted by the ancient Celts. Nothing new. I would argue not incredibly theologically valid, but whatever.

  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) The Gossiper. I could be nuts, but wasn't this girl on her death bed or one of the Actresses from the American Pie movies die? Jessica I think her name was. She was the easy chick.

    The Office

So, who was Michael on the phone with at the end? Jan? Unnamed woman? Unnamed friend? Good episode. Made me laugh.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) For TV showsm it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer for me. For the same reasons. An incredibly thin premise (the Slayer and here Scooby Gang fight the powers of darkness), but it was so cleverly written and so tongue-in-cheek in the best seasons. Huge fan. There, I said it. I never saw it, but I've heard it has a lot of similarities with VM--oddly young cast but scripts that can be appreciated by people with a brain. My college roommate got hooked on Buffy last year, and she has very discerning taste (except when it comes to men, but that's another thread).
  19. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) Veronica Mars Oh that too for me. I friggin love that show. I've only been able to admit it this season. But I maintain it's very cleverly written and delightfully noir, so I'm trying to move it from the guilty pleasure category to the just good tv category. But I hear you my friend.
  20. I also have Pocket Full of Kryptonite. It was one of my first cd's I got in in 6th grade (maybe?) because a boy I liked always talked about them. . . I still think it's a good disc. Oh, I also think that Jesus Walks by Kanye West is a guilty pleasure of mine. It just cracks me up everytime. I know it isn't supposed to be funny, but well, it is. And I like it.
  21. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) I'd be worried if the baby did... that's the stupidest idea I've ever heard. Someone hasn't seen The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.
  22. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) Maybe I read the article wrong, but I think people are assuming too much. It just says that Swift estimated 40% of their workforce would be affected AFTER being told of the possible raids. Who's to say that the government didn't tell Swift how many people they were expecting to pick up, or at least a decent estimate? And as far as incredibly heavy fines go, that's fine and dandy with corporations like tobacco where the companies can offset those 'small' damage rewards within the cost of their already unpopular product. But we're talking about food here. That's a different ball game. The 65 million is going to come from somewhere and it sure isn't going to come from the companies savings account. And if meat prices go up we'd all have to eat soy! And then we would all turn gay!
  23. You both raise good points, but how many of us Illinoisans (or at least at heart anyway), would want Blag Daddy or George Ryan to pick a new senator. *shudder* Either way, the way they caught the stroke so early makes it seem to me like he'll be okay and their won't need to be a replacement. Plus he's (relatively) young, so I think he'll make it back to the hill.
  24. That's very scary. It sounds like they caught it very, very, very early which is a great sign for the Senator and his family. Hopefully he gets a fasty, speedy and complete recovery.
