    QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) Whats the news? Is he going to be a big part of the show? Read people! He and Stephen Merchant (who I think might actually be the funnier one) are writing Nov 30th's episode.

    QUOTE(BobDylan @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) I'd bet you liked Crash. Am I right? Never saw it.

    Saw Babel (not my choice, was my friend's week to pick the movie), and ugh, it was the most bloated, pretentious, predictable and boring movie I've seen in a long time. Seriously, that story editor should have been fired because it was at least 45 minutes too long. Blech. Only bright spot were the brief moments when Gael Gacria Bernal was on screen, he was, as usual, delicious. So for Babble, 2 thumbs waaaay down.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) Stop yelling . I wasn't yelling, I was using my "I'm so disappointed" voice. Which is much, much, much worse.

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) 1985 called, they want their car back. Well, 1985 must have a time machine because it's an 87. For Christmas I really want to give one of my friends a stapler in Jell-O.
  6. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) not all of us are so familiar with gerbils, Jim Oh snap! And, may I say to all of you college students out there: learn how to write a paper. Seriously, it is not my job to teach your lazy butts how to structure an expository paper. If you can't do that you do not deserve to be in college. Seriously. And don't complain about your grade after you turn in a paper that most high school students would be ashamed to turn in. I consider it very generous of me not to fail you. So, either write the paper well or stfu and accept your crappy, crappy, grade (which was probably inflated to curb whining a little bit). That is all.
  7. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) you're probably against vagina nuzzling too.... Only if it's peppermint flavored.
  8. So, one of my cats is really slow. She had some bad fevers as a kitten and, consequently, is touched by the Angel Stupid. One of her problems is that she has long hair and forget to groom herself. So, every night I have to brush her and pull out the days knots. I've finally had enough, so she's getting shaved in a couple weeks. I feel bad for the groomer. . .
  9. I would run against pepperment candy canes, because they're disgusting.

    QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) A good review: http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/review_3021.html Every sub plot and character is interesting and developed really well. I'd like to see that, I've heard nothing but great reviews. I've also never wanted to see a Bond movie, but I kind of want to see Casino Royale.
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) If, for example, the three remaining were all liberals or conservatives, you will have a lot of similar opinions. By culling along self identifying labels, we could reasonably be assured some diversity of opinions in the final debates. That was one of the factors that killed the debate thread. Due to the distribution of candidates, I just don't think a party primary will work. Right now we have 4 Independants, 2 Dems and 1 Repub. So, if we do parties, we might not end up with the "best" of all candidates, instead we'll end up with a lopsided group of candidates who were selected more on the basis of party than their ideas (especially for the 1 person running as a republican and the 2 democrats). I say level out the field for the Ind and do as NSS72 suggests. And, knowing our posters here, I don't think we'll end up with a really one-sided selection of candidates.
  12. How would that work? Would we only get to vote in one primary? Or could we vote in all of them?
  13. With recent standardized test scores showing that students in urban areas are out performed by their peers and the opinion that US students are falling behind in science, what do you think the role of federal government should be in support of strengthening our country's (obvious) floundering in teaching science? Do you support increasing funding to national organizations (Like the National Science Foundation and the National Instutute of Health) or do you believe this is a state's issue? If it is a state's issue, how would you recommend they address this issue?
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Well if you are out of the race, would you be willing to help moderate things with me? That way Balta doesn't have to worry about it, no matter what he decides. I'd love to.

    I feel so bad for his and Nicole's kids. This must be terrible for them.

  17. Breaking news on the NYT site is saying Hoyer was backed by the house democrats.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) So... Balta, are you going to run? I'd hope so. Soxy? Kap? YASNY? Nope. I like to talk politics, but I can't play the necessary games. So, I'd rather be a constituent to a person that actually listens to my opinions and weighs it in with the others, so there's no Tyranny of Soxy. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) I was leaning towards it, but there's a question of actually having time to sit down and fill out a platform, etc. Have a ton of experimental work I'm trying to slam out right now. And there's that. . .But mostly the former.
  19. Oooops, my lab has gone 75 credits over our allotment this term.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 11:14 AM) Damn. That was going to be part of the debate thread. Hey! Candidate's can't moderate their own debates, how will those work? Will we submit questions to a third party moderator?

  24. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) Should I start a seperate thread just for endorsements? That's a good idea!
  25. Been listening to Greig and Ibsen's Peer Gynt, love it. I think "Solveig's Song" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.
