  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Yeah, and within a year or two every shopping center and mall is going to be able to use your RFID to tracak your movements and spending patterns. Outside of that there is going to be a universal user store that will collect every piece of information you put on the internet from your google, FB, aol etc account and will allow 3rd party companies to access it at their whim. Everytime you use FB to log into a web site like bestbuy.com it pulls all of your personal info as well as information about your friends. There is no privacy. That's really the bottom line... unfortunately. No matter what we think can or can't be monitored, assuming that you have any sort of privacy is the wrong way of thinking.
  2. QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) He's so mentally fragile when it comes to hitting, unless the Sox hire a sports psychologist for him I don't see him doing a whole lot in a Sox uniform. It's more than just his mental state that makes his performance at the plate suffer. If it was only that, I'd feel better about him rebounding after Greinke's issues and comeback.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) The problem is they can easily add that in the license/usage agreements, but they're so long and full of legalese that no one reads it. http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/3827...ss-casual-g-men So, even if they do track all my stuff, i'm pumped to receive my Droid Razr today. A whopping 1 cent I paid for it. It'll be my first android based device (apple whore for the last 4 years), so i'm excited to mess around with it all weekend. Not if they make some of their monitoring activities illegal. Ahh, I wanted to get that deal on Amazon, but Sprint kinda screwed me. When I signed up with them, they had the yearly upgrade program then they discontinued it before I got my first yearly upgrade. Then again, I'm not sure if that program would've applied to the sale on Amazon that day.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) Also apparently there's software in almost every Android, Blackberry and Nokia phone that records and transmits almost everything you do on your phone. where's my tinfoil... Yeah, and the carriers and the vendor of the software are justifying it saying it doesn't track and transmit things like contents of text messages. It's on every iPhone for now, pre 4S, I believe. It's just not right with Facebook getting that 20 year audit and things such as this for these smartphones. There needs to be more privacy laws that require these vendors to disclose what information these vendors have access to and prevent invasions of privacy. We will just hear how legislation is always behind technology though.
  5. I didn't know Martz was likely to be gone after the season. As others have said, this sucks seeing as how our players had to learn Martz's system. Especially since it was just taking shape. Oh yeah and btw since we traded away a pretty good TE.
  6. This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. Everyone knows the chances of resigning him are slim with the way sox deal contracts to pitchers. The only way I could see them beginning talks about a contract extension now is if they want to try to lock him up before deciding to trade him.
  7. I prefer real, but fake will do just fine. Her face though... no good. Ohhh, this thread is about the tree... I prefer fake. Seriously though, I'm sure that's part of the reason this thread was made for a nice little discussion on the preference of each one.
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) What a boring off-season league round so far... Hopefully picks up with the winter meetings around the corner... I was going to post the same. This has been a slow off season aside from the coaching changes. I thought Kenny would have at least a couple acquisitions by now. I sure hope he at least knows what direction he's going with the team.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) Next year. Thanks, thought it was effective immediately. And good for us.
  10. I thought I read somewhere the new CBA would end compensation for type B free agents. Did that not happen?
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) God I hated that trade when it happened. Oops. Yup, me too. I miss that Kenny...
  12. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) 2 Years, 14.5 million guaranteed, with a 2014 team option. Methinks Kenny can get a better return in a Thornton trade than people think. I think so too. Sometimes this board tends to undervalue our own players.
  13. Wow, a pitcher shouldn't be MVP.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) Changing it in the middle of the offseason? That is just a horrible idea. Seriously, that is just incompetent. Yeah, at least give the GMs time to plan ahead. KW could've attempted to re-sign earlier or trade him at the deadline.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/rumbli...-prince-fielder HA! So they made him go to Florida, try out, and said no thanks we don't like baggage?
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 12:42 AM) Apparently you didn't read the lengthy TWO sentences I wrote. In them, I explained that it would be difficult and suggested bringing one's family with to America. Apparently you didn't read into my lengthy two sentences. Even if you would bring your wife and kids to the United States, how can one leave everything and everyone else behind? There's more to family than wife and kids, you can't move everyone. I'm not going to go back and forth with you.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) This is going to sound harsh and probably pretty difficult to do, but when you make it to America to play baseball, don't go back to your s***hole countries anymore. And if you get far enough to earn a good amount of money, move your immediate family here with you. Sure, get wealthy, leave your home country, and never look back. It isn't as if family matters.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) Ryan is coming back to the Twins. Why would Hahn be going there? Plus they brought back Krivsky and still have Radcliffe. I've read here that Ryan is back on an interim basis. If they go the route of looking for someone internally and externally, we all know Hahn's popularity among GM candidates. Is it that much out of the realm of possibilities?
  19. Anyone have a feeling Hahn might take that job if offered to him? That would really suck...
  20. The only way Mark is staying here is if management really wants him here and if Buehrle really wants to stay, kinda like the last contract he signed... however, he has said he wouldn't mind seeing how other organizations are run. Maybe he had his fill with the drama show the past few years, maybe its a negotiating move. Either way, many teams will be courting him... I really hope he doesn't want to go.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) That's what I feel like. Guillen expected certain players to be able to do certain things, and every year many of them came out of spring training unable to them. Whether it be bunting, stealing, hit and running etc, either Guillen couldn't teach, or he couldn't recognize that certain guys didn't have the skills to learn what he was teaching. I am really interested to see what spring training looks like, and what the team does coming out of the gate. The sox have definitely looked bad coming out of ST the past few years. That's one thing that upset people about Ozzie. There's a difference between having faith in a player and giving him a few chances compared to making them do it every time and setting them up for failure. Even Hawk has always said that a good manager doesn't make players do something they can't do.
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) So does Jed Hoyer actually have any power in Chicago? Because everyone is talking about what Theo is going to do to this team, and who he is going to pick as his manager. Didn't Kenny pick Robin? Isn't that the GM's job? I mean, obviously the president has a say in it, but I was under the impression that the GM assembles the team and picks the coaches, the president just oversees and sets the budget. No? I was thinking the same thing when I read Theo talk about letting Quade go.
  23. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 1, 2011 -> 09:22 AM) Very true. Josh Radnor is acting like he doesn't care anymore either. Jason Segel is completely wasted now too. Josh Radnor really isn't that funny.
  24. QUOTE (qwerty @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) Since there has been big lebowski talk going on... here is a question for some of you. What is your favorite coen brothers film outside of the big lebowski? I ask because as a whole i really enjoy them... but there are still some bona fide duds in their filmography, in my opinion. If you have just seen one or two others don't bother answering. No Country For Old Men, nuff said.
