The GREAT Daniel Hudson
QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 11:46 PM) I don't even know that Hudson is better than Jackson from 2012 forward. But I think it's a hell of a good bet that he'll be the better value. I actually just mean if he stayed with the Sox because he would be on the Sox whereas with E-Jax, I don't think he is on the Sox next year and thus, has no value to us. On pure performance, I agree with you that E-Jax might be better and on your value statement.

The GREAT Daniel Hudson
I also think the big problem, too, with losing Hudson is when we lose E-Jax to free agency after 2011 and then Danks in 2012. Sadly, I have very little confidence in us retaining Danks. His brother sucking balls in the Sox system probably has endeared the family to the Sox, either, not that the Sox have anything to do with Danks' horrible contact rate, but they may contend that they didn't develop him well.

The GREAT Daniel Hudson
Hudson obviously was not as good as he was with Arizona last year, but he is not as bad as he has been this year. He still is a solid, young pitcher. I think E-Jax is a better for this year, but you have to look at the money in this comparison. One guy is a free agent who will command 10+ million and the other is locked up for a few years at a cheap rate. E-Jax = better 2011; Hudson better 2012 on.

Got to figure the UC will be rocking like none other on Sunday. I think we have re-invaded Luongo's head, too, which definitely bodes well for us.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Without question. The Rays have the 2nd best farm system in baseball while the Sox are bottom 3. I'm quite jealous of the pitching they routinely churn out. What? You don't like Jeff Marquez, Lucas Harrell and the like? What the f*** is wrong with you?!!?

Official SoxTalk Favorite Chicago Radio Shows
So who you all got? I think I do this every year, so I was curious if people's minds had changed over the last year. I love Waddle and Silvy, and listen at work everyday. They are very good together and seem to get the best interviews for a local show. Carmen, Jurko and Harry has become just OK for me. Carmen is not a great host, Jurko is plain annoying at times and Harry (who I like the most) is having various issues. I can't stand anything on the Score, especially B&B.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) Say whatever you want about DRtg (how team-oriented it is, etc), but Rose has one of the top marks for a PG in the game this year at 103. He's tied with CP3, good for second behind Rondo. http://www.basketball-reference.com/league...nced_stats.html That's just it though when you say how team-oriented it is. When Boozer is 11th in the league, you can see how flawed the statistic is. Rose has made leaps and bounds defensively though and has shut down the top PGs in the league. As for the Paul vs. Rose debate, it amazes me how quickly people's minds change. Two months ago, it was Deron vs. Rose. Rose is the better player right now and there is no way I would even think about trading him for Chris Paul. I will say Paul is close to Rose, but you guys are advocating for a guy who averaged just under 16 points per game and whose numbers are declining the past three years. That's not a trend you want.

I really hope Kyle Beach finally makes the roster. He has a lot of Andrew Ladd in him. Very skilled, power forward who can play well on any line and bring toughness. I would love Sopel back, and I think he might come back based on his comments last year when he left. I also love this Ben Smith guy. Really played well in the playoffs.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) And no cap room to do it. According to CapGeek, the Hawks are at about $8 million under the cap for next year with 14 players accounted for. So not a ton of wiggle room to add. Gonna probably have to hope the young guys improve leaps and bounds, and the current guys rebound. So glad they won last year because the window is so so so small in the NHL with such a low salary cap. Amazing how the Red Wings have managed to be a top 4 seed so many damn years.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) Go to the Bulls thread on realgm and say this and you're getting banned. lol. Rose is fabulous. But so is Paul. That's all I'm saying. I read that forum a ton for Bulls news, but they are so anal there. If you don't 1,000+ posts, anything you say will be flamed.

It will be amazing to see next year when the Bulls have a legitimate starting 2-guard. Bogans is not awful, but certainly not good. Bulls obviously can do a lot better. Imagine how good the Bulls will be with that.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) This. He may not be an all-around player like Toews and may be a d-bag off the ice, but you don't find talent like him very easily. He averages over a point a game and has offensive skills that very few in the game do. $6.3 million is a big number, but that's how much any player like him costs. I am definitely not in love with Kane like many, but yeah, you still can't trade his ass yet. I do seriously worry that he is complacent and doesn't have the work ethic to get better. But talent wise, he is in an elite category. If we sit here next year and he still isn't improving, then I might consider a trade involving him, but not yet. It just is worrisome that he doesn't seem to be improving and putting in the necessary hours during the off-season.

2010-2011 NHL thread
QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) Anyone think that all of the minutes/games logged last year between the Olympics and cup run have finally caught up to guys like Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabs and Hossa? Some of them looked gassed out there in the third last night. Oh yeah there is no doubt. Those guys have played a s*** load of hockey (competitive, 110% effort) in the past year. I wouldn't be surprised at all. Toews really hasn't showed, but everyone else certainly has taken a step back. And remember, too, they went to the Conference Finals the year before the Stanley Cup. It does add up and the Hawks had no depth this year to give these guys a break.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
Derrick is amazing. Easily now in the top five of the NBA. My list: 1. Lebron (still pound for pound the best player and most complete player in the game). 2. Dwight (a beast on offense, but the best defender in the NBA). 3. Rose (beast mode 24/7). 4. Kobe (when it matters most, he is the best in the game). 5. Wade (when healthy, he brings it as much as anyone and plays solid D). 6. Durant (best scorer, but doesn't pass and can't play D). Thoughts? Yours? But Derrick continues to climb. If he leads the Bulls to the championship, he might move to #1.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 09:45 AM) I really wonder if Kane is a scapegoat in all of this and moved for salary reasons. Probably not, but the Hawks have a s*** load of bad contracts. I would say only Toews really deserves what he was given by the Hawks. Kane is a one-dimensional player. Hossa can't stay healthy. Campbell is solid, but just not worth a max deal. Keith regressed a ton this year, but still plays a ton of minutes (not really angry about this one) and Seabrook's new deal will look bad too.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 01:46 AM) Duncan Keith = bad Brent Seabrook = bad. On the bright side, this Ben Smith (possibly a more generic name in sports?) is growing on me. I like his hustle. This team just doesn't have the passion or toughness needed to win in the postseason. Talent wise, they still have it. Intangible wise, they don't. This team misses its depth so much, and all the guys they lost last year brought that fire, passion and toughness factor that is nowhere to be seen this year.

White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels 4/15, 7:10 PM CT. CSN
We never throw someone out at second like that on bunt attempts. Are the Sox the worst bunting team in baseball? Or does it just seem that way since we watch them so much? I really think it's the former.

We miss the attitudes greatly of Burish, Buff, Eager, Sopel and Ladd. This team is all soft players. We really have no one besides Scott who is just willing to lay it down. We really miss that toughness that those players brought last year.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 08:08 AM) Vancouver just beat up the Hawks last night, and we never really punched back. They have got to show up this next game. I would say after the first 20 minutes, the Hawks punched back. The passing was ugly though, not very crisp. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) Keith looked terrible as well... Keith/Seabs have been brutal this year. Seabrook has actually been extremely suspect on D.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) My weakness is my diet, good most of the time but the random sox game, or weekend totally ruins it. To get really leaned out you need to cut out booze almost 100% which is tough for any of us to do. I am good for the alcohol, but it's the night time snacks that get me. I am 5'9", 142 lbs. and run a s*** load. But with the running, I always get the munchies at night. Ice cream, cookies, all that good stuff haha

What were game threads like in 2005 when everything was so great? I find these a hell of lot more entertaining than all of those "we are amazing" comments.
