  1. Brandon Paul makes some of the worst decisions I have ever seen someone make. I don't care if he is a freshman, he just doesn't have a good basketball IQ.
  2. Is it me or is Demetri McCamey the worst handler of a basketball in the country in terms of dribbling and controlling the ball? I mean Demetri can be very good at times passing, shooting and driving, but he sucks at dribbling.
  3. Manny's Deli. End of discussion.
  4. We have a top-5 rotation in all of baseball, maybe the best. And all the guys minus Freddy are relatively young. Not worried at all what Keith Law says.
  5. BTW, what would people think of bringing Josh Fogg back to battle for the long reliever spot? Pitched well in Coors last year and can't hurt to bring in a veteran-swingman type for the pen.
  6. I'm going Nix. I like his versatility to play anywhere on the field and play it well. He also adds pop to the bench and would likely be the #1 pinch runner, which is also important. Could easily see a 12th pitcher however, but I think because of the staff, they keep only six relievers. I also believe if we go with six relievers, Torres or even Lucas Harrell (Hahn mentioned him during Soxfest) would be the sixth guy because the Sox need at least one pitcher can go three to four innings and Santos/Nunez don't offer that endurance.
  7. I don't know who the writer is (meaning who he roots for and all) but that seemed like one of the more impartial, statistically-based articles I have read. It was a pretty darn good analysis.
  8. I got KW mad at Soxfest today! I asked about the failure of Sox draft picks and if there has been a shift in draft philosophy. He was quite terse.

Missing college. Working for a sports agency until I go to law school in the fall. Up at 6:30 a.m., not home till 6:30 p.m. It's tiresome.

I have one, but I don't really use it. Every job opportunity, internship, etc., I have found via people I know, school or on my own. I think it something that if I take the time to build better and use it more as a tool than just a standing resume, it could be of good use. It's definitely not a bad idea to create one because it can't hurt.
  11. I don't hate the fighting in hockey, but in any other walk of life, when two people go at it like NHL players sometimes do, it's battery. It also sends the wrong message to young people. But like Rock says, it something that is pretty much a necessity in hockey for self-policing.
  12. So far, I have really liked the start of 24. Not real into Freddie Prinz, but I'll live. He looks and acts like Tony way too much for me (the first few seasons Tony). It seems like they just wanted Tony 2.
  13. An all-time classic quote: The infamous write-off Jerry : So were going to make the Post Office pay for my new stereo ? Kramer : It's just a write off for them . Jerry : How is it a write off ? Kramer : They just write it off . Jerry : Write it off what ? Kramer : Jerry all these big companies they write off everything Jerry : You don't even know what a write off is . Kramer : Do you ? Jerry : No . I don't . Kramer : But they do and they are the ones writing it off . Jerry : I wish I just had the last twenty seconds of my life back .
  14. I am betting Sopel broke his wrist. When I was in 8th grade, I broke my wrist in a hockey game and had the very same reaction as Sopel. Skate off the ice with the hand just laying limp. Man, is Barker dead weight on defense, too. Such a liability there. EDIT: Looks like Sopel is fine. He is a warrior.
  15. I am sure Coop will tell him to sacrifice velocity for control and movement. Who knows though? Maybe he could be an effective reliever since relievers tend to just have good years out of nowhere. He's got stuff though and that is something that can't be taught.
  16. Not to be a bad guy here, but you wonder how this happens and what kind of stuff Adams was taking throughout his career (even in HS). It's just not natural for a 26-year-old to have a heart attack and these guys take so many supplements that it has to negatively affect the body. Very sad day though.
  17. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 08:09 AM) I was thinking more than Gavin, yet less than Lester. The Sox aren't going to make Gavin's deal look like peanuts and cause a rift salary wise. Danks is better than Floyd and thus should be making more than him, simple economics. Those types of issues I am pretty sure don't cross the mind of any front office employee otherwise it would handcuff nearly everything they do.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 07:59 AM) this .....portillos rocks in so many ways.....spend the 10 minutes it takes to get over to harlem, the burgers are BY FAR the best "fast food" type burger you can get....not to mention their beef is the best around (portillos italian beef >>>> pops) Had Portillos last night actually. Not a burger though, I had the chicken sandwich, which is also very good. But their burgers are also excellent. It's a great place to eat and pretty inexpensive.
  19. In high school, our night league (intramural basketball) team's name was the Van Buren Boys.
  20. After the first game in 2006 when Thome hit the big HR, I thought this team would easily win 100 games.
  21. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) In the two games I've been to this year, I have yet to see a goal against. Please attend all playoff games.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 08:21 AM) Last year bogged down at the end but was generally quite good. Year before it struggled a lot. My sentiments exactly. I mean it's hard to top the first three years of that show, which was just so amazing. Still excited, but the whole JB retires then un-retires for the day thing is kinda old -- almost like Favre. I wish there was a better way to get JB engaged into the action.
  23. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 08:24 AM) I love the sequence later on in that episode, when Brody comes to Seinfeld's apartment to collect his bootleg tape that Elaine recorded herself dancing on: Brody: How'd it turn out? Jerry: Uh... great. Kramer: Although the whole story kinda comes apart at the end there. Jerry: Yeah, out of nowhere there's this lone dancer who appears to be injured. Kramer: Yeah, it's a disturbing image. Jerry: Yeah, so you cry... and when you see the dancer, you cry again. Other quotes: Jerry: Kramer, these balloons aren't going to stay filled 'til New Year's. Kramer: Those aren't for New Year's. Those are my everyday balloons. Newman: (driving down the street with a piece of garbage creating sparks under his mail truck "Once........twice.......three times a (car bust in flames) AHHHHHHH, AHHHHH, OH THE HUMANITY!" Summer George: Seinfeld's van! Seinfeld's van! George's cousin: What is he saying? George: I think he's saying Son of Sam! George: (burst out of car) I knew it wasn't Berkowitz! I almost died laughing out loud at that quote. I love the Millennium episode.
  24. Jerry: "I can't go to a bad movie by myself. What, am I gonna make sarcastic remarks to strangers?"
  25. Serenity now...insanity later.
