  1. Great depth for us at this position, which is always great to see. Excited to see what Trayce will do this year, though I wouldn't be surprised to see a mediocre year. I think it's unreasonable to expect a Mike Stanton-type rise from him.
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 07:18 AM) Could be a dry socket, which means (I believe) the scab over the gums has opened up and you have air on sensitive nerves, thus causing your pain. Mine was also a bad experience. All four of mine were impacted I was bad for about a week. Like Heads, oh the painkillers. I = idiot. I didn't realize you haven't had the surgery yet. Oops. My advice goes for naught.
  3. Here is mine. Yes, some rivalry teams are in the same division. Also remove the DH, everyone plays by the same rules. But I think logistically this makes the most sense. I have no idea if someone has posted similar as well. I haven't read the entire thread. Flame away!! 4. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) -Minnehaha Falls is fun for a nice walk or hike -The Old Spaghetti Factory is always a favorite restaurant (right next to the Dome). -There is also the Waterpark of America which is huge (not affiliated with MOA I think) -Indoor ice skating at "The Depot" -The Village Wok in Minneapolis is one of my favorites for lunch. -30 min outside the cities is Stillwater. They have boat cruises, there's a cave tour, a nice italian place called "Luna Rossa" -The premiere steakhouse in the cities is Manny's. -I hear the Midtown Global Market is cool for different ethnic restaurants and markets. -If you're looking for something simple and free, you can watch them change the water levels at the barge on the hudson river, some might think that's dull, but its actually pretty interesting (if you park by the old spagetti factory its within walking distance). -You can walk past all the really old huge victorian homes. If you actually want to do this and want to know where, PM me and I'll ask my wife where it was). -Go see comedy sportz in Uptown (personally I hated comedy sportz, but a lot of people love them). -Or just simply walk through Minneapolis. Its super clean and safe in the downtown area at all times of day. If you're looking for different types of ideas let me know, I may have more for ya. Cool. Thanks for the suggestions. If I got any questions, I PM ya.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) I'm starting to experience some pain in the left side of my mouth, my gums are a bit swolen, and the left side of my jaw is locking up a bit, and I'm pretty sure it means I need to get my molars removed, which sucks. Anyone have a similar experience? Could be a dry socket, which means (I believe) the scab over the gums has opened up and you have air on sensitive nerves, thus causing your pain. Mine was also a bad experience. All four of mine were impacted I was bad for about a week. Like Heads, oh the painkillers.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) Who does your family consist of? If you want a fun bar, the Local is a must. Mom and dad. Only child w/ parents who are non-drinkers, so that probably would be out haha. Thanks for the suggestion though.
  7. So going to Minny with my family from May 10-14 and am looking for what to do there besides the two Sox games. Obviously got Mall of America, but what else? I know there's lots, but what's the best? Thanks!
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) He was at ND for 11 years I believe. He'll recruit a lot better than Lickliter if not for the only reason he likes to coach a brand of basketball that is actually fun to play. I'm very excited. He's the only coach ever to take 3 separate schools from single bid conferences to the tournament. With Carver Hawkeye Arena getting a $50 million renovation, it won't be long before Iowa becomes relevant in basketball again. I read 88-99 as 88-89 on Wikipedia. Oops. Then yeah even better hire IMO. Should have good contacts.
  9. Very good hire IMO. One of the best mid-major coaches out there. Although the same was said about Lickliter. It will be interesting to see how McCaffery recruits without any real midwest experience besides being an ND assistant for two years in the late 80s, but lots have changed since then. That to me is the hardest part to get going when you are a new coach, you gotta make a lot of contact and friendships with coaches in a short period of time.
  10. So who do you guys will be starting in goal tomorrow?
  11. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 02:38 AM) Here's my BOLD predictions: 4. Jenks will go on the DL and Guillen will try Sergio Santos as a closer... and it'll stick. Quite bold considering if Jenks went on the DL Santos would have to jump Thornton, Putz and Pena. Mine: Carlos Quentin becomes a permanent DH by June (Jones full-time in RF) Rios makes the AL All-Star team Buehrle has a 2006-type year (meaning not so good) Gavin Floyd finishes in the top 5 of the Cy Young
  12. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 09:12 AM) Late 80s... I'm gonna go with 88. I am taking 88 as well.
  13. Is it realistic to think the Hawks will put Huet in Rockford next season (assuming no one claims him on waivers, which I am sure no one will) and eat his contract?
  14. Well Huet off to a great start.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,4754935.story Vizquel's going to get far too much playing time. It's shocking to me what our lineup might look like. There's a guy who I will hate this year. Not because of him, but because of Ozzie's usage of him. He is a pretty horrible hitter right now. He should get like one start per week at most.
  16. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) I like Mark Kotsay So do I. I don't get the hate on him. If he hits against righties most of the time, he is gonna put up darn good numbers. Probably not gonna hit a lot of HRs, but will make solid contact and won't strike out that much.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) It might be possible that there will be a player I hate more than Darin Erstad. Big difference though. Erstad hit .221 in an injury-riddled year before the Sox, so expecting much from him was ridiculous even though the Sox did. Kotsay hit .292 with the Sox, is in perfect health and has ripped the ball in Spring Training. Now I hope Ozzie comes to his senses and bats Kotsay in the 7th spot or lower, but he won't be Erstad II.
  18. To me Ozzie is both irreplacable but also replaceable. Let me explain: There is nobody that could replace Ozzie in terms of fan adoration, publicity and outrageousness. Sadly, the Sox do get a lot of their national media attention, whether for good or bad, because of something contreversial or funny Ozzie said. You will never be able to replace the personality of Ozzie. Managerial-wise, Ozzie isn't a Bobby Cox, Torre, La Russa or Gardenhire in my mind, so in that respect, I think you could find an alternative to Guillen who will roughly win the same amount of games with the Sox talent. But there is something to be said for having Ozzie and the national attention he brings along. I am in the group that says other. I think this year is big, but not monumental. If this year's team, with the losses that Minny and Detroit have incurred since last year, fails to win, I have no problem putting Ozzie on the hot seat for 2011, making that year make or break.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Ideally the Coyotes or the Sharks and Red Wings end up opposite of each other in second and seventh to get rid of at least one of those teams early. The lower of Ph and SJ will be in the fourth seed, so would be the Hawks second round match up in all likelihood. The worst possible thing would be to get Detroit in the first round and then Phoenix and San Jose back to back before getting Pittsburgh or Washington in the finals if they can survive. True, but I think as long as the Hawks get home ice, I think they will get to the Stanley Cup where hopefully somebody has knocked out Washington. When the team needs to play well and they have a home game, you see great performances like yesterday. Now, I don't have too much confidence if we have to play San Jose and they have home ice in the Conference Finals.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) Why not just do the NIT BEFORE the tournament starts. Get rid of the stupid play-in game (which is a joke really), add a tournament which'll draw a huge audience from the bubble teams (as well as teams that are already in the tournament just to see where they'd land), and be done with it. An extra 30 something teams would be crazy. That's WAY too many. I like the idea of having the NIT determine the last 4 in the field of 64. Too many games for those teams who make to play. That would be the ADs/University Presidents' arguments. Miss too much class, etc.
  21. Good win against a hot team. Gives us a little breathing room against the Coyotes. Niemi again a stud. All we need is this Niemi 57% of the time (4/7) and we should be good!
  22. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) Me. Too. Funny review below. Pretty much my sentiment exactly. 24 Season 8 episode 13 review Haha, I agree wholeheartedly. And perfectly with my word: IRKED.
  23. Rajai Davis is gonna have a huge year, definitely all-star worthy. With a full season of at-bats, I wouldn't be surprised to see 70 SBs with him. He can fly.
  24. 24's plot turn at the end (you know which one I am talking about) was horrible. Completely ruined the show for me this year. I thought this season was great thus far and only getting better from last week's episode and the first 57 minutes of this week's, but then the plot twist. Just horrible and unnecessary. Anyone else irked by it?
  25. A ton of money for a guy who plays a position where a real breakdown is possibility before the deal is up. That being said, no way you couldn't resign him if you are the Twins, they had to give him his $$. Scary, but Mauer signed cheaply, on the free agent market, he could have gotten more.
